797195 tn?1240579823 I have been considering Adderall because of my extreme fatigue and my inability to tolerate Provigil for more than about one day per week (gives me heart symptoms - chest fullness if I take it more often). I sure do look forward to Mondays though (that is the day of week I usually take it). I even feel the effects of the Provigil the next day (though not nearly as strong). Actually the Provigil fades out about 8 hours after I take it, but I sure do sleep well that night!
Avatar f tn I have heart palpitations and am very sensitive to medication, but this med rarely aggravated me and if it did increase my palpitations it was less of an effect than caffeine. When I first started it, I was having a hard time falling asleep at night, but I still felt rested in the morning. The more consistently I took it, the less sides effects I felt. I know some people on here were saying they had to take it before noon or they had trouble sleeping.
Avatar f tn I posted this elsewhere, but it fits under this heading, as well: I have debilitating fatigue due to MS and have tried everything - Provigil, Amantadine, Adderall, Ritalin - the works. While Provigil helped for some time while I was still working, that was many years ago and its effectiveness eventually petered out. At the time, I was taking a very large dose in accordance to doctor's orders, and my side effects (heart palpitations, increased rate of speech, crashing, etc.
5389497 tn?1367327406 Last week I went to my doctor with complaints of my hypo symptoms becoming even worse, particularly my fatigue seems worse. My heart was also feeling funny along with heart palpitations (Although it seems to be doing better this week).
797195 tn?1240579823 I have heart palpitations that are very sensitive to medications, but this has not bothered me. I am taking 175mg. I take in when I first wake up usually between 7-9 am. The days I took it closer to 9, I did have a hard time falling asleep at my regular time. But my regular time was giving me around 10 hours of sleep, so it was ok that I was falling asleep later. I haven't needed a nap since I started taking it, which really helps me get more things done.
Avatar f tn Yes to what everyone else is saying. My neuro is willing to fight for anything and everything on my behalf. Your doctor should be your first advocate. And you can ask your doctor for as many "samples" as possible. I'm on the 200mg sample which I cut down to 100mg and now down to 50mg. I called the 1-800 number for the medication to ask and had a nice time talking in circles to the patient rep. The pill is scored so it technically can be cut.

704043 tn?1298056844 I found that 5 mg. twice a day even was not tolerable for me. It gave me heart palpitations, facial tics, irritability, etc. Also, the second dose of the day didn't seem to wake me up at all. I think that different doctors have different ideas about prescribing such a medication, and different people react differently to it. I think it was a little rude of your neuro to make you feel like you were asking for some speed or something.
233622 tn?1279334905 My mom who has high blood pressure also is on provigil for narcolepsy (SPEELED HORRIBLY WRONG!) She had a heart attack back in April and provigil was one of the first drugs the heart doctor put her back on.
390916 tn?1204840470 I HAVE FOUND PROVIGIL VERY EFFECTIVE. IT DEFINATLY HAS DONE WONDERS FOR ME. I HOPE YOU HAVE GOOD RESULTS FROM IT.
722661 tn?1230925283 She offered to prescribe a medicine similare to one that gave me a resting heart rate of 150 several years ago, which I declined. Having my heart pounding that fast and hard was not something I would ever want to repeat. Long answer to a short question. Good luck; I know just what kind of fatigue you're talking about.
Avatar f tn So it amounts to 4 days of 50mg and 3 days of 65mg. This works for me. And there are no more heart palpitations. Others here commented that it took several months before they saw a consistent result from Provigil. I was doubtful but I can't argue with the results. My insurance company still hasn't approved it but I am getting enough samples for now. First neuro appt of 2009. The doctor has the results of the SEP on my legs and was "impressed" by the results.
667078 tn?1316000935 Hi Alex, I am sorry you are feeling so fatigued. It's rotten. Here is my experience. The modafinil not only works, but it's a complete lifesaver for me. I would be in big trouble without it. I started out on 200mg. This was a disaster for me. I am small, and I think the dose was too much. It made me feel as if I was on a train that wouldn't stop and it gave me heart palpitations. This freaked me out and I stopped immediately. Neuro recommended trying 100mg.
Avatar m tn Amoung them is an MAO Inhibitor, Metoperol, HCTZ, Synthroid, Provigil, Nexium, and some other meds. that are psychotropic and for my asthma. I have had just about every test in the book, I think, for my stomach and heart...CT Scans, a PET/CT Scan, Holter Monitor, Stress Test, EKG's, I think and Echocardiogram, Tests I don't know the names of for my stomach problems, thyroid tests and a biopsy of a lymph node in my chest only to discover I have Lymphadenopathy (sp?
5509293 tn?1428531475 This is my first day on Provigil, taking 200 mg this morning. This is an attempt to replace Adderall 15 to 30 mg per day. Provigil walloped my blood pressure. It dropped by 10 points when I check 12 hours after taking the first dose. I've been lethargic most of today. I finally took an Adderall so I could function.
Avatar f tn I went to my pcp yesterday, had one of my very violent myoclonic jerks while she had me on the exam table and I nearly gave her a heart attack. But, she began to realize that some weird stuff was going on with me and called a neurologist and had me go see him an hour later. He was a little disappointing in that he was more interested in talking about horses (I board horses) than talking about my symptoms.
Avatar m tn t help, they try something else and only as last resort will they Rx provigil, due to cost and health issues(heart depression, etc)
405614 tn?1329144114 I received a letter of denial for Provigil coverage after a free week's trial (from the drug company). The Provigil made a world of difference, but is really expensive. My other option is Ritalin, and I don't like the sound of the side effects. I had no negative ones from Provigil.
539156 tn?1281818356 I checked by searching and only found things in the anxiety and heart related forums. Do any of you have heart palpitations? I mean a LOT and OFTEN? Can this be a symptom of MS? I've complained about it for years and have had it brushed off as harmless. I never mentioned it to my neuro because I didn't think it was related to neurological issues. It is something I have learned to live with, but it is annoying and uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up.
1710955 tn?1309446473 The propanolol increases the Provigil in the blood. I only take 100 mg. of Provigil. I have tried other medicines for fatigue and they don't work for me. I don't have any adverse effect and it actually makes me feel human. Typically, the medicines used for attention deficit disorder or ADHD are used to combat fatigue.
Avatar m tn I started noticing heart palpitations when I graduated college. It seems like my palpitations are getting worse and have now flat lined. So I do not sense that the palpitations are getting worse. I visited my doctors about them and they put me on a holter monitor and they didn't have a solution for my heart palpitations. So they decided to put me on beta blocker (Lowest Dose- Half of 25MG), which has helped a lot with my heart palpitations. I can now exercise without any palpitations.
1088527 tn?1425313375 I started taking provigil yesterday and wow I cant believe the energy I scrubbed the shower down washed the cabinets down went food shopping then took dog to dog park for 4 hours then home and dinner usually just one of these activities wipes me out . I am glad that I have energy but I feel jittery my legs feel like they are going hundred miles and hour and I am stuttering badly in the am I think I am trying to talk faster then I can get it out.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a 27 year old female, who just recently started having heart palpitations. I've had EKG's and an echo cardiogram, but my cardiologist says it's stress induced. She also told me to avoid caffeine and alcohol, get lots of sleep and drink lots of water. I've been pretty good about all of those things, trying to reduce stress in my life, but I've felt palpitations everyday for the past 3 and a half months, since the day they started.
Avatar f tn Heart palpitations are common in pregnancy because of your increased blood volume. It also can be related to amemia..anxiety. .etc.I hope you feel better.
Avatar m tn I have what seem to be very strange heart palpitations, a "normal" palpitation would be just a sudden "skipped" beat feeling but for me, sometimes not always, i have what feels like a skipped beat and then my heart rhythm feels "off" or if its fluttering for sometimes up to 5-10 minutes then my heart thumps and everything goes back to normal.
