405614 tn?1329144114 We unloaded that car on the bottom level and hauled stuff up all those stairs, and it wiped me out.
934553 tn?1275274379 She said the depression was from the disease process and we needed to get me feeling better and the provigil and neurontin would do that. She did not want to do DMDnow as that actually would make me feel worse at present.
1142551 tn?1264736930 Provigil is more expensive and I actually had more side effects with Provigil. Nuvigil is the 2nd generation of Provigil and the manufacturer has lowered the price to get everyone "switched" before the patent on Provigil expires in 2011. For me, the difference between Nuvigil and Provigil was amazing. Nuvigil gave me back my life. Provigil let me leave the house but I had trouble functioning. And since Provigil is "going away" it is tough to even get samples.
Avatar m tn t help, they try something else and only as last resort will they Rx provigil, due to cost and health issues(heart depression, etc)
Avatar f tn The patient is taking Lamictal for depression and Provigil for narcolepsy (EDS) diagnosed via MSLT.
1831920 tn?1320857757 I have heard a lot of good things about things about provigil in treating depression if coupled with an antidepressent. Has anyone tried this? I am having a hard time functioning. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn My husband was addicted to prescription Oxy for 5 years and since getting off (3 years ago) has been on several different meds to overcome depression, etc. He has been taking Provigil for 2 years, but recently he runs out of his prescription before the refill date and he stays awake for days on end, between 7-10 days. About 10 days after he refills the prescription he starts sleeping, all day and night, almost constantly, until the refill date and then this pattern starts all over.
Avatar n tn her doctor that will be treating the disease is starting her on provigil. i did some research online and it seems to be pretty safe and has a lower probability of addiction is far less than the other options... the constant fatigue seems to be her biggest day to day issue. minus the depression and anxiety but that is getting much better since she went into treatment...has anyone ever used provigil or knows someone that has? any noticable side effects? and cautions you would give?
797195 tn?1240579823 I've been on both Provigil and Nuvigil. There is NO comparison. Nuvigil is hands down MUCH more effective to me than Provigil. Provigil always gave me a "rush" upper feeling. It felt like I was a little high. Provigil, on the other hand, is a slow and gradual release. I take it in the morning, and within an hour or so, I notice I can just concentrate better and am less tired. Its very gradual and lasts a lot longer than Provigil.
459155 tn?1264008142 I was dx with depression 10.5 years ago and have been on Zoloft ever sense. When I would start feeling like the medicine wasn't working b/c of stressful things going on in my life, my doctor would increase the mg for a few months. Well, the past 3 months have been the most stressful of my life. I have 2 major issues going on (that aren't pleasant). During these months I have noticed that I am so sleepy!
Avatar f tn m a healthy 25 y/o female that has been dealing with chronic back pain for 11 years. Since the back pain started after an accident i have been getting more and more tired. I have trouble staying awake at work, thinking, driving and getting off the couch in general. on or off depression meds i feel exactly the same. I do not take pain meds. I had a sleep study done last year that showed over 200 spontaneous arousal over 8 hrs. My MSL is a 6.
Avatar m tn I was given Reglan last Nov after I was diagnosed with ulcers. I didn't suffer the side effects you both are describing, thank God, but had to go off of it because it made my period start and stop. Really severe bleeding. My GI doc INSISTED the Reglan wasn't the culprit, and it wasn't until after I presented her with the side effects list from the pharmacy, would she acknowledge I was right. As soon as I quit this med, my system went back to normal.
429700 tn?1308007823 I don't have MS (so it appears), but I have quite a few similar symptoms, including dizziness and the related brain fog and fatigue. Back in 2000, neuro prescribed Provigil, saying "we used to use Ritalin for this" but that Provigil is now favored because of fewer side effects. Provigil was very helpful for both fatigue and cognition, although I didn't like the late-afternoon "letdown" effect I got with it. It was rather unpleasant.
Avatar f tn For me, just me, it has been nothing short of a miracle as I was looking at taking full disability due to the fibro. The Cymbalta they say helps with the pain and depression, I take that as well. The other med I take for sleep is called Trazadone, please look it up on a med site for an overview. It allows me to get REM sleep, which is what I lack that causes the CFS. There is NO next-day drowsiness, that is what was most important for me. Best to you.
Avatar f tn Adderall is often used to treat depression, as one of the major symptoms of depression is low motivation and excessive sleepiness. Adderal also increases blood pressure and heart rate and can also cause intense anxiety in many users. Doctors will sometimes prescribe a benzodiazapine like xanax or a beta-blocker to counter these effects. Nearly 90% of people with depression have combroid anxiety disorders which benzodiazapines are most commonly prescribed for.
Avatar f tn It can take way too long to get a dx, and that will depress neone, but pain can also cause depression....and last as I already mentioned, the compression of the brain stem can cause depression as well...not to mention that the cerebral tonsils also affect emotions, moods, etc....we can have ours go all over....it is a roller coaster ride like no other..... I did not find a med or a therapy that worked, helped, whatever....surgery and releasing the pressure did ...JMHO of what worked for me.
Avatar n tn huge lymphnodes in her neck/ behind her ears and in her armpit. she is anemic. has severe depression and anxiety(hence why she attempted suicide in the beginning of the month and thats why she is in inpatient treatment right now ). her joints are incredibly sore and has a rush of warmth into them from time to time. and she has terrible migraines very frequently... as for the period thing. she has an irregularly shaped uterus that causes issues with her period...
871962 tn?1244730028 The medications I have used are provigil and adderall, and I don't take them every day, so tracking them would be helpful. (I currently take provigil.) Tracking the degree of sleepiness is also helpful, since I am sleepy almost every day and a yes/no doesn't do much. Others with narcolepsy might benefit from tracking sleep paralysis but fortunately I don't have that problem. That being said, I really like all the trackers here.
Avatar f tn Okay.....was diagnosed this past week. Was given RX for Provigil and will be starting Betaseron. Please tell me of your experiences with these meds. Thanks!
Avatar f tn My neuro has just prescribed Provigil for me. (I emailed him and he answered within 5 minutes! Gotta hand it to him for that.) Anyway, I had previously had Amantadine, which did zilch, even at 200 mg. I am authorized to take 100 mg of Provigil, and can go to 200 if necessary. From what I recall, many of you take half a pill, so I guess that's 50. Have looked up the drug info online and it said side effects include nausea and anxiety, among other things, including a serious rash..
968560 tn?1307451498 Anybody know if there is any problems taking tramadol and provigil together?
620048 tn?1358018235 I do use OTC sleep aids like you said and i think for now i will continue, i have some ambien, but i will keep it to use when i need it, since i had to beg for it. I dont want to use it all the time anyway. And i use 200 mg of provigil now, and i sometimes i could use a bit more. But i try to stick with 200 mg.
794366 tn?1418009395 Thank you for your comment. Has provigil been helping you with your depression and for how long? I will certainly tell my psychiatrist about this.
Avatar m tn Modafinil (d, l-2-[(diphenylmethyl) sulfinyl] acetamide) [Provigil] is a novel wake- and vigilance- promoting agent that is chemically and pharmacologically dissimilar to CNS stimulants such as the amphetamines, methylphenidate, and pemoline. It is well tolerated and has low abuse liability compared to CNS stimulants. Modafinal promotes wakefulness. During income tax season it enabled me to work business hours in the U.S. and accommodate international clients as well.
1100837 tn?1267668675 m experiencing from the RA and FMS with Provigil (for fatigue) and Effexor XR (for pain). What do you all think?
