Protonix and the liver

Common Questions and Answers about Protonix and the liver

protonix

Avatar f tn Could the medications that I reacted so violently to be the cause of my liver enlargement and elevated ALT levels?
Avatar m tn I would ask for all the Hepatitis tests first and then maybe a liver panel so they have a marker to reference in the future. Morecambe is right, also. You should really see someone ASAP if there's black tarry or coffee ground like stools as it could mean internal bleeding which is yet another indication of liver disease. Your liver function is definitely being comprimised, so you need to find out why. Good luck!
2121656 tn?1395674749 Well, I visited my gastro/hepatologist for a issue with high liver enzymes. He asked why I was taking protonix. Therefore, I explained how a ENT diagnosed me with a hiatal hernia when in fact my symptoms at the time were actually caused from a allergic reaction to allergy drops he provided to me. Well, needless to say once I told the Gastro. the procedure he did when he made that diagnosis, my gastro.
325086 tn?1217971180 ll do the Fibroscan as soon as I am able. In the meantime, I wait a week, without the Protonix, and do the blood work again. Many thanks for all the suggestions, and especially for taking the time to calm me down. Jim, was that Herb LIV 52?
Avatar f tn t have medicaid and yesterday my health insurance company said I must use generic of Prilosec first and if it does not work I guess my doc can request the Protonix. I really feel a difference not having the Protonix. Glad you can receive it. Thanks.
Avatar f tn I have had a constant dull upper and mid right quadrant pain for the last 5 months. The pain is more of an annoyance and sometimes hurts when I bend or twist my body. Sometimes, it feels like gnawing or pinching. No nausea or vomiting. No significant changes in bowel movements. I’ve had IBS for over 10 years so nothing out of the ordinary. I thought maybe it was the gallbladder or appendix at first, however, I’m not quite sure. I’ve been to my primary three times for the issue.
Avatar n tn He ordered an ultrasound which was negative but showed possible liver abnormality. Her bloodwork showed normal pancreatic and liver enzymes. On Friday, she had a CT of the abdomen which revealed excessive abdominal fluid(i am guessing ascites)- her liver was fine. Her pcp wants her back Monday for bloodwork to rule out ovarian cancer (i guess CA125). Over this past week, she has become very tired and her stomach is distended. In August, she saw her GYN for her yearly exam.
Avatar n tn 3rd day post-op finally being discharged(of a same day procedure) surgeon assures me nausea will resolve by next week. here we are over 7 months later and not only has the nause not resolved, but neither has the abd pain, and I have lost 20-25lbs. colonoscopy - mild divertic; endoscopy mild gastritis, bile reflux; gastric emptying test- within normal limits but possible mass on liver... recommend MRI; MRI liver cyst (bilobed); CT abd/pelvis free fluid pelvis ?
Avatar m tn I only started taking protinix 8 days ago and have had horrible stomach pain. Back in October my Gastro doc did an endoscopy and results were esophagitis; basically inflammation and several small ulcers. He described aciphex. My insurance initially said they didn't cover it, but the dr sent over an authorization & I was told it was good for one year. First two months my copay was $75 but in January when I went to p/u @ pharmacy I was told it was $480.
Avatar f tn My daughter developed an inflammed circular and raised area below her knee when she was about eight and the first thing the dermatologist said when he looked at it was, "who has diabetes in your family?" When I told him that she did, he told us that this was something called granuloma anulare and it was directly related to her diabetes.
Avatar n tn I ate some chicken broth and crackers, took the Protonix and here a few hours later, I am feeling the pain coming back. I do not have any stress in my life at the moment, so I just don't think this is due to an acidic stomach from stress. I remember that I had these episodes twice when I was between 8 and 10- such bad pain that I remember those attacks all these years later. Any input or ideas as to what this might be? I would like to go see a specialist but not sure which type.
Avatar f tn The Dr gave me Nexium, but I was still getting upper stomach pain and pressure in the chest an back. I was switched to Protonix and it seemed to help with the upper stomach pain right under the breastbone. I'm taking two pills a day. Does anyone know how long Protonix takes to work? I was told that some PPI's could take 4 to six weeks to take affect.
Avatar n tn Gastritis can be difficult to handle, unfortunately. If you make changes to your diet, your lifestyle and H. pylori has been ruled out (or if found and treated), you'll have a better chance of overcoming the problem. Has you doc ruled out the possibility of a hiatal hernia which can add a further complication? It unfortunately probably took you a fairly long time to develop this condition, despite the fact that it may feel like it developed overnight.
7763229 tn?1396626895 I am on pepcid a.c. now and it tears my stomach up. Mmm I have an appt today so we'll see.
Avatar f tn I went for an abdominal ultrasound, endescopy and CT scan with IV contrast and all came back fine. My Dr just switched me to Protonix.
Avatar f tn I had a GI scope about 3 months before this and was on the Protonix but was off by the time I had this first episode of chest issues. My GI said my chest issues are from going off the Protonix and with my lung/allergy issues the reflux backs up into my lungs? When this occurs and I have what I call a flare the first thing in the morning my lungs feel so awful! The only thing that I can really think that brought this on was a couple years ago I was diagnosed with h pylori.
177337 tn?1310059899 RNRita - I'm worried about going off because it really did help. I used to use Gaviscon but it stopped working. I have been on Protonix for quite a while so maybe I will stop and see if I can have luck with Gaviscon and Tums again. Did the pvc's stop right away as soon as you went off it? WIsconsin2007 - I don't see any literature with palps as a side effect either and my cardio gave them to me and told me it wouldn't bother my heart. But I have to wonder....
Avatar f tn 3 years ago I had what felt like another gallbladder attach. They did blood test, liver biobsy and my liver functions came back normal, but I was still having pain. They decided to do an ERCP. I was in severe pain afterwards but fine after a couple of days. 3 years later (this year) I had another really bad attach, with many many multiple attacked in the past few months before, they decided to do another ERCP. On both ERCPs they have found gall stones.
Avatar n tn I have been using Protonix for almost a year now and it's worked great to help my Gastritis but I noticed something. Since taking it, my period comes later than it used to and for less time. I am a bit worried, is everything ok?
Avatar m tn Hospice care started this week. Protonix given daily - is it needed? Asymptomatic and no hx of gastric reflux.
Avatar f tn ve also been having terrible heartburn, nausea and vomiting for about the past month. My liver enzymes are elevated, an ultrasound came back negative for gall stones. My HIDA scan showed an EF of 96%. Is there anything i can do to stop the pain and nausea. It happens every time i eat and it doesn't matter what i eat either i've changed my diet to low fat small meals but the pain is still there.
Avatar n tn A little over a year ago I started having some stomach/colon problems. I had tons of gurgling in my stomach and colon area and a general feeling of having trapped gas/air/bloating all over. My bowel movements started changing. One day they would be shaped fine, the next day they would be kind of skinny, then one day they would be weird puzzle shapes and kind of like diarrhea, then the next day diarrhea, then back to normal. No particular order. This went on for two months. I saw my doctor.
1479013 tn?1330699762 Then, I had Chemotherapy and all the complications that go with that. Spent nearly 2 months in the hospital, back and forth. Had abscesses inside my body, etc. I should have been dead several times my Doc said. He says I am a true miracle. GOD saved me!!! I never even took a pain pill! But, the first of November of last year, my Doc declared me Cancer free! Went back February 7th and was still free. Go back again the first of May and pray that I am still good.
