t think i have any liver issues, and he said you would feel pain, and enlarged liver, and other things like jaundice, and elevated billirubin. He felt my stomach and liver area, and didnt think i had any liver issues. Last night i went back to the hospital, after having some severe pain in the left side, they didnt want to do another CT since they said it was normal, they did an Abd x-Ray and said everything looked good, and my liver enzymes were normal again.

I went to the hospital, and they told me they thought i was dehydrated. They gave me some fluid and did an abd CT and Liver enzymes, and standard abd pain workup, which all came back negative. Dr said that my liver did not feel enlarged and that if i had liver disease there would be other signs. Im normally a 2 -3 wine drinker a night for the last 15 years or so. After i stopped drinking, i started to feel fatigue, and what i think is gastritis.

s black tarry or coffee ground like stools as it could mean internal bleeding which is yet another indication of liver disease. Your liver function is definitely being comprimised, so you need to find out why. Good luck!

I Goggled Protonix, Liver and there were multiple articles that warned of a Liver Side Effect. Most just said to be careful of the dosage.......................of course, everything has that!

Well, I visited my gastro/hepatologist for a issue with high liver enzymes. He asked why I was taking protonix. Therefore, I explained how a ENT diagnosed me with a hiatal hernia when in fact my symptoms at the time were actually caused from a allergic reaction to allergy drops he provided to me. Well, needless to say once I told the Gastro. the procedure he did when he made that diagnosis, my gastro.

Hi all, I'm a 26 year old man diagnosed with GERD. This all started a 3 years ago. I was sick: nauseous, vomiting, yellow urine and jaundice. My doctor ran a panel on me, I had elevated levels bilurubin. In a few weeks I recovered, and my doctor ran the panel again. Again I had no signs of Hepatitis or anything like that. He told me thought I might have a rogue mono virus. Whenever you run my blood today, the bilurubin levels are still extremely high.

I take Protonix to control my gerd. An allergist recommended this and it does seem to make a difference. Does anyone else take these types of meds to control their gerd and, ultimately, help with asthma? I cannot get Protonix any longer through my health insurance and was wondering if someone took something else as effective. Prilosec and Nexium do not have as good as effect as Protonix for me. I have acid reflux and take protonix occassionally when needed...recently I had a bad scare where I suddenly starting gasping for air...I have had similar attacks in the past, but this one was major as I felt like I would stop gasping....There was no warning before the attack....It did subside...Is this common with acid reflux and what do I do when this happens? I did over indulge with food over the holidays...I am not over weight and I do exercise..

I wanted to add I've had 2 scopes, ct scan, blood work to rule out celiac disease and B12 issues, ultra sound. They cant find nothing other than hernia. However my Gastro DR says no way my hernia is causing this issue. Im on Pepcid, Carafate, GI cocktail, and protonix.

Ultrasound showed no issue with gallbladder, kidneys, appendix or liver. Liver only shows a hemangioma that has not gotten bigger since 2019. My pancreas was obscured. I also had normal blood work except for calcium which was 10.3 but my doctor wasn’t concerned. After no changes after 8 weeks of omeprazole, I was changed to protonix 2x daily. No changes after a few weeks, I went back to the dr because I started to feel right side back pain. He referred me to a GI which is in two weeks.

Hello, I have had heartburn and stomach problems for over 30 years. I'm 67 yrs.old and have tried all the different perscription medications. I have been taking protonix for about 5 years now and I'm concerned about long term use of protonix and all the other heartburn medications I have been taking for 30 years. I still suffer from heartburn daily. I have had 4 Endoscopy's done at different times and my Dr.

He ordered an ultrasound which was negative but showed possible liver abnormality. Her bloodwork showed normal pancreatic and liver enzymes. On Friday, she had a CT of the abdomen which revealed excessive abdominal fluid(i am guessing ascites)- her liver was fine. Her pcp wants her back Monday for bloodwork to rule out ovarian cancer (i guess CA125). Over this past week, she has become very tired and her stomach is distended. In August, she saw her GYN for her yearly exam.

What complicates things more is that you are taking meds and an iron supplement which can make your liver disease worse and cause you to have more symptoms.Plus a number of these meds may also have numerous side effects or interactions that can be worsened by having cirrhosis which can interfere with the metabolization of these meds. My neuro mentioned that MS is a disease of both the gray and white matter. I read through the previous postings about this, and it looks like it's been about two years since it was discussed. I guess I'm wondering... 1. Do we know any more about it than we did two years ago? About the impact on disease, the ability to image this, etc. 2. Do we know what role iron levels or supplementation might play? My serum iron was a little low (10 ng/mL)...

Hi from what I understand protonix is an rx while prilosec is over the counter meds...... so I do believe that the protonix is stronger.I am not a dr, just going on what I do know, I know both r PPI and work much the same way.....Ur dr should be able to say y he changed ur meds...everyone is different and react to the meds differently....maybe bcuz the prilosec dtopped working instead of changing meds he should check to see y u r making so much acid. I have noticed mine cycles....

I have been taking Trazadone and Celexa for several years and more recently, Protonix, for stomach pain/ possible ulcer. I am also using Aldera for an outbreak (first time) of genital warts. I went to my doctor several weeks ago complaining of severe lower abdominal cramping, epigastric pain after eating and pain in my upper right quandrant. No change in bowels I had a CT with contrast performed of my abdomen and pelvis.

r/t ovaries (uterus surgercally removed 5 yrs ago), kidney cysts-benign appearing, mild liver and spleen enlargement; ---recommend ultrasound pelvis to evaluate free fluid... normal finding (post op fluid...... Endoscopic ultrasound - mild features of chronic pancreatitis - but "not enough" for definative diagnosis recom ERCP or MRCP ...ENOUGH already Then .....

m not getting relief with chiropractic care or anything else for that matter, I started thinking about medication and side effects. The protonix s the only thing that could possibly be the culprit. I went off of it two days ago, took omaprazole instead, and have had a 50% reduction in the pain. Has anyone else experienced this. I am reluctant to mention it to the doctor because I'm afraid he will dismiss it. I want to be sure before I talk to him.

Plus my everyday meds of Advair 500/50 twice a day 1 puff; Singulair 10 mg 1 time day and Protonix 40 mg twice a day. I have been in and out of the ER. I have seen my PCP;Cardiologist and Pulmonologist. All chest x-rays, stress test and echocardiogram came back normal. Still having all the same symptoms. I keep getting sent back and forth between doctors with no resolve. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!!

I had some blood testing about two weeks ago showing high WBC and low RBC along with two elvated liver enzymes AST and ALT. Never had that problem before. My question is what do those elevated ezymes mean? Why isnt the acid reducers working? What are the possible causes of my gastrtis?

The doctor said it was stress and prescribed Protonix . Protonix is for acid reflux- I have never had heartburn or acid reflux. The pain subsided (I believe due to the Tylonel 3 which has codeine in it). I ate some chicken broth and crackers, took the Protonix and here a few hours later, I am feeling the pain coming back. I do not have any stress in my life at the moment, so I just don't think this is due to an acidic stomach from stress.

Hi Selma, I thank God that I had an abdominal ulrasound and cat scan with and without IV contrast and all was clear. I was so afraid that I had pancreatic cancer. My Dr told me that the CT scan was the best test for the pancreas. I just get nervous because I still get a discomfort way up high under my breastboneand occasionaly in my back but my Dr said this could be acid reflux. My endescopy also showed that I have gastritis which I know is painful as well.
