Protonix gallbladder

Common Questions and Answers about Protonix gallbladder

protonix

Avatar f tn Before getting pregnant with my daughter, i was on protonix off and on two years. I didn't have heartburn at all with my daughters pregnancy, but now pregnant with my son, i have so many digestive issues. I have been on Protonix again for almost a month and it helps but not 100%. I don't know what else to do, i also had an ejection fraction of 22% for my Gallbladder back in 2011. Will these problems go away after i deliver my son? Or will the problems persist?
Avatar n tn The doctor said it was stress and prescribed Protonix . Protonix is for acid reflux- I have never had heartburn or acid reflux. The pain subsided (I believe due to the Tylonel 3 which has codeine in it). I ate some chicken broth and crackers, took the Protonix and here a few hours later, I am feeling the pain coming back. I do not have any stress in my life at the moment, so I just don't think this is due to an acidic stomach from stress.
Avatar n tn Came out negative but I still have pain Dr prescribed Protonix 2 x daily Does this help the gallbladder.
Avatar m tn Everytime I was told there was nothing wrong. Finally one doctor decided to do a hida scan and found I had a low function gallbladder. it was only 17%. In November I had my gallbladder removed. I had a lot of pain and the heartburn instantly returned.. and I would get nauseas with one bite of food. Went back to my surgeon he referred me to a gastro dr, and prescribed me Prilosec. Prilosec did nothing. While waiting to get in I continued to get worse.
Avatar n tn Hi i know what you are going through, I had my gallbladder out in aug of 2007, I went 6 months test after test then i got worse i started to vomit everytime i ate. I finally put a blog up and a dr responded by saying that your gallbladder is leaking from the inside thats why all the tests indicated that my gallbladder was normal. I had it taken out and he was right. be persistent you know there is something wrong don't let the drs tell you different.
Avatar f tn They switched me to protonix 40mg twice a day but I have minimal relief . Also had my gallbladder removed about 4 yrs ago . Any ideas ? Please Help !!!
Avatar f tn I had a Hida Scan in June and the rate was 77% then I had another one in December and it was at 40% so they thought that my gallbladder was failing and making me sick. It took me about a week on the Protonix 2 x aday before I started to feel better, the regland I just started 6 days ago but I dont like how I feel on it either but I don't feel sick so I will just stay on it for 4 weeks.
1479013 tn?1330699762 t help but had to try that first before insurance would pay for Protonix. I have been on Protonix for over a year now and am having problems again. Right after I eat, I get bloated; I liken it to when you are full and you bend over to tie your shoe and you feel so much pressure on your stomach and diaphragm area and your head feels full of pressure. That's what I feel like after I eat and I am NOT bending over.
Avatar n tn I blamed it on side effects from the protonix I had been on for 3 months. With my doctors approval I stopped the protonix. It took over a week for the withdrawal symptoms to disappear and I felt much better. Until this last week or so. Now my thighs (especially inner) and crotch area are achy and get that numbness feeling sometimes like I used to experience when I was 9 months pregnant. I tend to notice a bloated (constipated like) feeling at the same time as the achy thighs.
Avatar f tn I had my gallbladder removed a year ago tomorrow. What led me to the surgery was 8 years of complaining of a burning pain under my right breast, which my doctor would write off as indigestion. After almost 9 years of complaining she decided she would order an ultrasound to 'shut me up' and found, of course, gall stones. My gallbladder was removed and since then I STILL have the recurring burning pain, although now it's just a bit lower.
1222076 tn?1423027749 I had my gallbladder removed 3 years ago.I was having a lot of problems with my stomach with multiple symtoms. Went to several different doctors that dignoised me with different things. Had an ultrasound done that showed my gallbladder was fine. I finally got insurance and they finally sent me to a GI doctor since then I have had a few endoscopys lots of blood work, x rays, and they did a HIDA scan and that's when they realized my gallbladder wasnt functioning correctly.
Avatar n tn You may want to consider asking your doc to check your gallbladder. If bile is the issue, you might want to talk to your doc about using a prepartion such as carafate which will coat the stomach and help protect against the bile. If the problem is bile, PPIs will be of no help. You also may want to see if following a low fat diet might be of some help.
Avatar f tn What really bothers me most is the chest pain. I am not sure if I should go to the ER. I went last week and was given protonix and motrin and a script for Vicodin. I had a follow up recently with the nurse practitioner to go over my endoscope results: gallstones, sludge, a polyp, thickening of the gallbladder wall and inflammation of the small intestines. I am scheduled for surgery in a few days but feel like I wont be able to make it til then. Help!
Avatar f tn Found out that my HIDA scan was normal with 75% ejection fraction, however there are few polys on my gallbladder walls (the largest one is 35mm) according to ultrasound report. I was shocked to hear it as when I had called to ask my ultrasound result, the nurse didn't tell me about it. GI referred me to see a surgeon for gallbladder removal. I had been having nausea, abdominal pain, gagging after eating, specially fatty food.
Avatar n tn Has your doctor checked for the possibility of gallbladder dyskinesia? If your gallbladder isn't pumping right, you might have elevated leves of bilirubin. Sometimes, GERD is a symptom of this, unfortunately. Ask your doctor about getting a CCK/HIDA scan to see what your ejection fraction is. If the number is below 35%, then you may have found the culprit. That's not to say that other factors may not be playing into this, but this is certainly a possibility.
Avatar m tn Currently, I am taking Protonix in the am and pm for heartburn problems that I have had for about 3 years (Dr thinks that it was likely GURD related symptoms). Recently replaced Protonix with Dexilant in the pm. Any advice would be great.
Avatar m tn Said I have very slight Barrett’s and some inflammation and put me on protonix. Also have small polyp on gallbladder that we will check again in 6 months. He said the pain in rib (front and side) can be caused from this, and that it affects everyone differently. I don’t have much indigestion and have a great appetite, etc. I hate to doubt but it seems strange that intermittent pain can radiate all over. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Avatar f tn I got really nauseated in 2011 and it lasted for months....my gall bladder was removed because of a HIDA scan with an ejection of 30 ( no stones). I didn't get better and went from 118 lbs. to 92 lbs. I had many tests:2abdomial CTs, a colonoscopy, an endoscopy, a small bowel study, a gastric emptying test, an MRI, numerous x-rays and bloodwork --all was normal except I did show some gastritis on endoscopy and my GES was in high normal range..
Avatar f tn I am a 50 year old female and am approximately 70 pounds overweight. My gallbladder has been removed. In the last two months, I go three to four days without a bowel movement. I then have an uncomfortable morning of loose stools. This lasts about three hours, and then I am fine. I begin to feel abdominal cramps again after one good day (especially upon eating), then--lather, rinse, repeat. I do have tenderness on my right side--exactly across from where my gallbladder used to be.
Avatar f tn The GI Dr recommended I have my gallbladder out and wanted to schedule surger. Was a little hesitant so went for a second opinion to a well known GI Dr. He told me that no surgeon would remove my gallbladder without me having stones. Now I'm confused. He wanted to schedule a endoscopy to rule out an ulcer. At this point I'm miserable every day, been taking protonix and ranitidine daily and constantly have to burp and still feel the pain on my side from time to time.
Avatar f tn My son had his gallbladder removed in January 2017 after 4 months of gallbladder attacks finally getting diagnosed with a HIDA scan of 0%. He has done great for 8 months. He had a couple of times of temporary stomach upset from fatty foods like ice cream. He now wakes up every morning feeling like he needs to vomit running to the toilet. He never vomits but coughs and welches like he is about to. All tests come back negative.

Avatar n tn Could this be a complication from the lap nissen, and if so would it have showed on these test if something was herniated? The doc put me on protonix, and it has helped some, but I know there is something bad wrong, even wondered if I had cancer.I cant continue like this.Would reflux cause this much pain retching? The pain goes into back.
Avatar f tn I’ve had IBS for over 10 years so nothing out of the ordinary. I thought maybe it was the gallbladder or appendix at first, however, I’m not quite sure. I’ve been to my primary three times for the issue. 1st trip, he prescribed omeprazole then scheduled an ultrasound. Ultrasound showed no issue with gallbladder, kidneys, appendix or liver. Liver only shows a hemangioma that has not gotten bigger since 2019. My pancreas was obscured. I also had normal blood work except for calcium which was 10.

270554 tn?1289511647 I had my gallbladder out in sept, then I got diagnosed with severe gerd, gastritis, and IBS. I was prescribed amitriptyline to help with IBS, but soon as I started taking it I got severely tired, dizzy, leg cramps. I stopped after the 3rd day and now the symptoms I had before are not going away.
Avatar n tn He pushed quite hard in two different spots, saying he was checking my gallbladder and my appendix -- I felt nothing and he said all was fine. He ordered a blood test to check my liver function and "check out my gall bladder to some degree" -- the tests came back normal. He was considering doing some true gall bladder tests but said he suspected maybe an ulcer, gastroenteritis?, or maybe IBS.
