Avatar n tn observation if another biopsy done in 04/09 shows increase in positive cores to 3 or more or if any one core shows 50%+ positive for cancer? Also, is there any current opinion regarding use of Avodart or Proscar while in Watchful Waiting mode? I understand there would be a likely reduction in PSA, but that new PSA baseline be established and return to monitoring of PSA velocity. Not sure what, if any, benefit this would provide.
Avatar n tn The Proscar can reduce your PSA by 50%, so future PSA results will have to account for that reduction. Meaning you may have to double your next score for a true value. You need to make it clear what your status was when you took the last PSA test 1.35. Had you already been on Proscar for some time? Others have said "The increase is the key even if it is small."... Right now you don't need to worry about that.

I did not complete the required dose because it wasn't helping. I now i have infected my sex partner on a couple of different occassions. she gets treated and cured but i can not. My symptoms include burning and an itching feeling on the tip of my penis.

Avatar f tn Alopecia is another autoimmune disease in itself. For some reason the immune system attacks the hair follicles and destroys them which is what leads to the hair loss. My best friend has it and she has no hair anywhere! Not really sure if it is thyroid realated but I don't think so. With the thyroid you do lose hair but not leading to baldness.

Avatar m tn My dermatologist preformed a scalp biopsy a few weeks ago and she told me that I was diagnosed with early stage female pattern alopecia. However when I read the pathology report it does not seem clear to me. In fact it seems somewhat contradictory. Any help is welcome! Results REPORT Corrected **** THIS IS AN AMENDED REPORT **** CLINICAL DATA: ?
Avatar m tn I noticed that there is a small patch on my left chin, where beard is scanty. It is not completely gone but the hair is scanty and the patch is obvious. I went to my dermatologist and he told me it is Alopecia Areata, though it could be in "initial stages" and it is "too hard to say anything". He told me to apply fluticasone cream twice a day, for a month. And if the hair doesn't grow back, he will give me steroid injections. Should I get those injections?
Avatar n tn Traction alopecia is a form of alopecia, or gradual hair loss, caused primarily by pulling force being applied to the hair. The use of thermal or chemical hair straightening, and hair braiding or weaving are examples of styling techniques that place African American women at high risk for various "traumatic" alopecias. Traction alopecia is reversible if diagnosed early, but may lead to permanent hair loss if it is undetected for a protracted period.
Avatar n tn Has the alopecia simply been reported as persisting or what is the % reported of permanent hair loss?
Avatar f tn I am still taking Eprex to help with hemoglobin and blood etc and I was in treatment for about 16 weeks......non responder by the way....my GP said it could be stress but I'm wondering if Anyone has had this problem post treatment or during etc.....
Avatar m tn He just recently (at 21 years old) was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and Alopecia. The steroid shots are not helping the alopecia, and he has been put on Synthroid. I am trying to help him figure things out with the Alopecia. Doctors just keep giving him the steroid injections but after a year NOTHING has gotten better. Any information would be truly appreciated.
Avatar f tn My 11-year old daughter was diagnosed with alopecia a few years ago and with the exception of the initial "outbreak" has not had any trouble with hair loss until about 9 months ago. In that nine months she has lost only a small, dime-sized patch of hair on her head, but cyclically loses and regrows her eyebrows and eyelashes. She has had her thyroid checked and has, in the past, been seen by a dermatologist.
Avatar f tn He does not have any tattoos. School-sports-home. Just so sick with worry and waiting. The alopecia for which we even started all this testing now seems trivial and just cosmetic compared to what we are facing now. Also I started reading about Harvoni and viekira pak and how its not even tested in the pediatric population. We are originally from India and I even started playing scenarios of just pulling him out of school and going to India for treatment.
