I understand there would be a likely reduction in PSA, but that new PSA baseline be established and return to monitoring of PSA velocity. Not sure what, if any, benefit this would provide. I am considering brachytherapy as an ultimate choice of treatment, but do not want my "window" for it to close. Your thoughts?
I had the problem getting more while passing urine (when i pea few drops of urine come out in the end ) I went to the doctor and he did a PSA test it was (0.78), and he did a Uroflowmetry and it was normal and he told me not to worry about it and no medication is required.
3-three years later............, i started having more dribble of urine , I went to the doctor and again he did PSA test it was (1.21), and no treatment was suggested.

Im not a doctor but had prostate cancer and 45 radiation treatments. Im ok now and my psa has been steady at .08. Well i guess you already know about retrograde ej. My psa was 4.7 and had a biopsey and discovered it. Ive learned that the best warning sign is called a spike in the psa. Like from 1 to 4. I dont see a spike with yours. Just keep checking with your doctor.
During the last two years large biopsies were not taken (even if PSAs have ben followed and free-PSA has been between 6 and 9) but when I think the April results, I am still puzzled??Should I ask a re-evaluation of these biopsies? How likely it is that I am really 'clean' of cancer under such tumor volume conditions?
As I have mentioned earlier, studies suggest inverse associations between obesity and PSA with low PSA levels found on obese people. However it has also been suggested that PSA concentrations are lower among men with higher BMI or with higher energy intake. Since you have increased the time gap between your diet, it is less likely to be the reason for your low PSA levels.

I have had two bouts of acute prostatitis causing complete retention in the last 7 years, one requiring catheterization. My PSA averages around 2.0, and I take Proscar and Cardura daily. My BPH symptoms are fairly mild causing only about one or two nights a month of nocturia, reduced urine flow, and hardly ever the feeling of urgency. I do feel like I have mild prostatitis from time to time, causing incomplete emptying of the bladder, and a more reduced urine flow.
I DO have a SLIGHLY enlarged prostate, I DO have pre- diabetes, I do take Verapamil, and a small dose of Atenolol . I do take PROSCAR. HOWEVER NO new medications were added i nthe pats YEAR and the DECREASE in amount of semen and sensation has been during this YEAR. I dont think its the medications. I DONT smoke. I DONT drink. I have some minor kidney damage fom taking LIPITOR (muscle enzyme leaking .high CPK) nutthat wouldnt SHRINK my RIGHT teste. I have NO SWELLIN there no lumps..
I am alarmed NO ONE is too concerned (I saw 2 urologists) and no one can dfiagnose this..I take PROSCAR for benign hypertropic prostate-that has nothing really to d owith hleping the loss of feeling..just lets me urinate..when I CAN sense it..HELP ???? I have NOT been put on any new medications recently but LIVALO I hardly think that causes a numb bladder or reduced sensation. here is NO Burning or pain on urination .
I went to a urologist...checked my psa.. 0.50, physical examination of my prostate normal..urine tests, culture and yeast urine test..normal..the urologist said to me you do not have a prostate problem but i am going to give you this drug called proscar anyway..this will cure any problem that you do have..Well it didn't....same problem after ejaulation only. This only happens 12 hours after ejaculation..otherwise i'm fine..no problems urinating, no pain.
6, then repeat after 5 week, PSA come back 3.8, at the same time did free PSA, but fPSA is very low, and up %fPSA/PSA about 11%, and this may need biopsy. But as I mention, PSA shows so much difference in such a short time. What is his means and the if PSA and fPSA really correct or accurate? If hose test results can be trust to determine the biopsy. I read about tests, and all point cPSA id better than PSA, to calculate % to determine if biopsy really needed. Specailly if PSA is under 4.

Dr performed a DRE and found a nodule, followed by an ultrasound and found calcifications. Volume was 27 (so PSAD around 14%?). Free PSA around .53 (ratio around 13%?). He opted not to biopsy but said follow-up in six months. I've seen that prostatitis and BPH can raise the PSA, but haven't read anything about calcifications causing the rise. Is he expecting the PSA to level off or decline in six months? 27 doesn't seem "enlarged" to me anyway.
he tried avodart for 1 year but not worked good for him thats why he stop and try another drug name proscar...
i did some research and found that if i had ejaculated within 48 hours of blood test that can elevate my PSA. I dont recall but might have had sex both nights before morning test. My two questions..
What are other possible reasons for high PSA other than cancer and which are the most common?
Should Doctor have talked about the other possible reason rather than leave me and my family worried about a shortened lifetime on my part?
My father found prostate cancer at 65 (12 years ago, the reason I started checking every year), had radiation and is alive with a .03 psa today at 76.
I am now 68 and I have had a hard prostate for the last 6 years with no symptoms but a rising PSA. 4 months ago my PSA was 10.8 now 4 months later it is 15.7 and still no symptoms. For 6 years each DRE has produced a hard prostate with rising PSA. If my prostate had cancer in it being hard for the last 6 years wouldn't there be some signs of prostate cancer other then rising PSA?
My husband had a prostate MRI one week ago and the doctor's office called and set up an appointment for next week to, I suppose, reveal the results. I'm assuming if it were good news, he might have just said on the phone without an appointment. My question: is a prostate MRI sufficient to determine cancer or would a biopsy have to be the definitive answer? Can he say "it's cancer" and then set up a treatment plan or do we have one more step?
