Avatar f tn I take propranolol the dosage is up to your doctor it doesn't really make you tired although everyone is different but it doesn't me it's suppose to be for stress and anxiety but I don't think it helps very well you might consider ativan there isn't a medication that has propranolol in it there is a script of propranolol by itself it's not mixed with any medication
1504778 tn?1321394645 They really help preventing palpitations, especially the ones that occur with physical or mental stress. They also help slowing a rapid heartrate due to stress, and they prevent panic and anxiety. Other beta blockers lack this effect. The aching can't be heart related if you are 18, and your echo and stress test are normal, so the beta blocker won't help you there.
Avatar f tn Had a stress test Thursday and 4 minutes in they started happening repetedly and we had to stop the test because of the pain. They said that they were PVc's and they were benign. The doc would call me Friday. From the moment of the test to Friday PM I never felt the same after. The thumps were happening sitting and moving. The doc didnt call me and I was just trying to tell myself that no news is good news. However Friday night my husband came home after being gone for a week.
Avatar f tn I have a positive relationship with my father). This placed a great deal of emotional stress on me. As the end of the school year approached**, I began experiencing episodes of tachycardia at school, as well as persistent diarrhea. I visited my doctor (about 1.5 months before the end of school) because of this diarrhea, and, while waiting for my appointment, experienced a very high heart rate.
Avatar f tn The beta blocker medication effects the central nervous system and is helpful for stress related symptoms and treatment for high blood pressure. Of interest, propranolol is one of the banned substances in the Olympics, presumably for its use in controlling stage fright and tremors....Propranolol is currently being investigated as a potential treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder. Thanks for your questions. If you have any other questions or comments you are welcome to respond.
Avatar f tn My doctor put me on propranolol/beta blockers on 16/04/2014 which was last month. Sometimes I was missing them and only taking 1-2 day. What I was wondering is people that have been or are stressed or been on propranolol have they had problems with their period? I got my period on 2 may this month and it was very light like a red/brownish and only lasted 2 days approximately and my periods normally last up to 5-6 days and are quite heavy.

Avatar f tn If any one can help answer my question, I would be so grateful. I have been hospitalized in the ER three times in the past two weeks for bradycardia. All this suddenly started happening in the last two weeks. I start to feel weak, have a seizure, this last time, I fell down on the kitchen floor and hit my head pretty good. I am a 28 yr old female who has been on propranol for almost 4 years. I have a at home blood pressure monitor, that also checks my pulse and I do it religiously.
10894761 tn?1413637884 When taking propranolol, I had massive spikes in blood pressure during stress, even though my blood pressure at baseline is low. If I was stressed at the doctors office, I could easily have a blood pressure of 155/105 and sometimes even higher. Now, during stress, it's more in the 120/80 range, and without stress, 100/65. The reason is simple, propranolol blocks the vasodilating effects of adrenaline (beta2-receptors), leaving the vasoconstrictive effects (alpha receptors) unopposed.
967168 tn?1477584489 Hope everyone is well....It's been awhile; been moving so I've been gone for about 6 mths...so my question is - how do you know when it's time for a dosage increase? I've been Propranolol for 3 years now and went on 60mg twice daily last year my last cardiologist tried 120mg once daily but it was too strong I don't know if it's from the stress of house hunting, moving and unpacking or both but my meds just do nothing except make me sleep any more.
5252520 tn?1366044234 I am 22 and I've been on propranolol for about 3 years starting at 160mg for panic attacks and anxiety. I have weaned myself (with the help of my doc) down to 10 mg in the morn and 10 mg at night. It's taken about a year and a half! Last week I found out I was pregnant! Unplanned but exciting! however I have to come off my propranolol now for good. I've started to miss my evening dose and then next week they want me to do 10mg on alternate days, then cut it out completely.
Avatar f tn Drink cherry juice, exercise on a bike and drink lots of water. I use magnesium chloride pain cream too. I’m 74. I take propranolol 10mg 2X a day & olanzapine 2.5 once a day. I have also been under Extreme financial stress. Could my problem be cortisol from stress? Could that be what is making me hurt not just in my joints but muscles also? Your wisdom will be appreciated!
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
4155003 tn?1351614311 ive bin on propranolol for about 12weeks & weaned myself down to 10ml every other day, i took 10ml propranolol 52hours ago & not going to take another one as im ready to stop. when will it be fully out my system?
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar n tn My left atrial is 39mm, the limit is 40mm. My doctor prescribed me 20 mg propranolol, 3 times a day, and Cardiopirin (Acetylsalicil Acid 100mg). After four months, Cardiologist weaned of propranolol to a quarter a day and Cardiopirin one pill in the evening. I have a normal blood pressure, except when I get scared because of white coat syndrome, it jumps at 140-100, and it happened only three times. I do not know what to do next - should I continue to take 1/4 Propranolol and Cardiopirin?
11570509 tn?1422387166 I was prescribed 20mg Propranolol awhile back but my psychiatrist lowered the dose to 15mg. They gave it to be because my heart rate never seem to settle below 100 and was around 120 a lot of the time. But since I have dropped my dose a lot of stress has come into my life and I have clocked my heart at 135 a couple of times and 125 every other time. My "anxiety" is high but I feel like it may be my heart causing me to feel anxious or maybe the other way around?
1828749 tn?1317778518 Do NOT change your meds based on this answer!!!!!!! Why did the doctor change your meds? SVT and IST are two very different conditions. I think a minimum requirement before treating something is to verify the diagnosis, just like a legal judgement is required before putting someone in jail. Also, propranolol and verapamil are very different meds.
Avatar f tn Does Propranolol...does that beta blocker make you have major mood swings?....I am having that and wondering if it is this pills doing it to me....does anybody no if they do that to u?
Avatar n tn Within the last few months I have had a sudden on set of pretty bad stress and anxiety, most likely related to school and my work load. The first time I had a panic attack I had just finished smoking (medical marijuana) and was preparing for bed. Before I knew it there was this very loud ringing in my ears, so loud I couldn't hear over it. My heart was pounding incredibly hard. I was feeling cold even when I put a sweatshirt on. My chest was tight and I had uncontrollable shaking.
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
Avatar m tn Propranolol is not on the list of contraindicated drugs for Harvoni. Here is the list: http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/ledipasvir-sofosbuvir,harvoni-index.
Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
Avatar n tn Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences. We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.
Avatar f tn Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day. For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
