i am just concerned for the fact that the prolonged use of propranolol might cause any sort of memory loss to me. Kindly advise me in this regard.
i heard that propranolol causes memory loss. if so how wil i cope with creeping old age.
When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
I am going to try it because my memory is so bad on Topamax. My neurologist said it might be better with Trokedi XR but it is very expensive. So if you can tell me before I buy it I would appreciate any feedback.
I was taking Propranolol which I had problems with. I had some severe side effects concerning my central nervious system. One of which was memory loss. During the 6 months that I was taking it (for blood pressure) I started to think I was going a crazy because I was also having very vivid dreams which I was having a difficult time with.
In real life I had learned some things that normally would have been difficult to deal with.
I had brain Zaps for 3 years. Mine subsided with Propranolol 40mg used for essential tremors. Propranolol has least side effects used by surgeons so that their hands dont shake during an operaion. I had anal fissure with brain zaps.
There are 3 sicknesses related to brain zaps.
1) SSRI discontinuation Syndrome. - Treatment Prozac.
2) Essenial Tremors - Treatment Propranolol.
3) Concussion.
I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up.

I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug?

4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.

I take propranolol the dosage is up to your doctor it doesn't really make you tired although everyone is different but it doesn't me it's suppose to be for stress and anxiety but I don't think it helps very well you might consider ativan there isn't a medication that has propranolol in it there is a script of propranolol by itself it's not mixed with any medication
Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences.
We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.
Results vary among people, but, for migraines, I was taking 240 mg Inderal LA (Propranolol slow release) every day, in divided doses, I was fine. One site I just viewed suggested dosing as 40mg twice a day of Standard Propranolol or 80 mg Slow Release once a day.
For the Standard Propranolol, they listed 640 mg as the maximum per day, in divided doses, so you're clearing that by a wide margin.
I have been prescribed an increase in propranolol for migraines and anxiety.I was taking 120mg in the morning(extended release) and my doctor has raised the dose to 160mg.
I had been taking the propranolol in the morning, but have read that the best time to take it is in the nighttime.
Does anyone know what would be the best time morning or nighttime?

I certainly would not be able to memorize all of my labs... lol I have all of my labs, dating back to something like 1999 or 2000, so I can look back and see now, that my problems really started long before my doctors even acknowledged that I had problems...
i am 28 years of age,i had a problem of trembling my fingers of both hand,specialy when i write it was more difficult,then i consulted a neurologist so he checked me and prescribed me propranolol 20 ml to take 3times a day but i was affraid to take 3times but i took that only once a day as i was asked by someone if i continue that much i will have to use it forever.when i take that i feel much better.
If any one can help answer my question, I would be so grateful. I have been hospitalized in the ER three times in the past two weeks for bradycardia. All this suddenly started happening in the last two weeks. I start to feel weak, have a seizure, this last time, I fell down on the kitchen floor and hit my head pretty good. Its main side effects are sedation (which improves with time) and in some people temporary (reversible) memory loss. If you plan to stop klonopin, you need to taper it according to a specific regimen prescribed by your doctor (you should not suddenly discontinue it).
Propranolol can cause fatigue, can affect the libido, and has some other side effects but it is generally well tolerated in younger adults.
