Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
10610562 tn?1411418414 So, I am a 29 year old male. 5'7" 130lbs. I was put on propranolol to reduce the heart rate, as well to possible help with my anxiety and panic. This medication worked really well for me. It helped ease my mind, enough to where I felt more comfortable leaving the house and being productive. It completely got rid of my embarrassingly shaky hands. I was so happy. Then, I noticed my asthma was being severely effected.
Avatar n tn 862, free t3 2.6, free t4 1.78 high, reverse t3 29.90 high. I’ve read when rt3 is high you should cut the t4 med dose and add t3 but my endo won’t add t3 because I have bad anxiety and he said this will create more. He said all my numbers are normal and rt3 means nothing. So he aid to leave the med as is. I’m on Levoxyl.75 4 days a week and .88 3 days. I’m also on propranolol.20mgs twice a day for the MAV and clonazepam.25mgs a day for the anxiety.
Avatar f tn I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium. Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
Avatar f tn I was taking it for arrhythmias and high BP (160mg XR propranolol with 180mg XR diltiazam daily) and when I ran out 4 months ago I just kept taking the Dilt. hoping the symptoms were just withdrawals and that they would go away... Symptoms are what you would think, I'm just curious if to someone with similar conditions (i.
Avatar n tn But I used to get panic attacks in form of tachycardia and palpitations. I have been taking Propranolol for last 3 months and have tapered it off to 5 mg 2 times a day. Because of the persistent symptoms of panic attacks, my endocrinologist referred me to a psychiatrist. She diagnosed me as having Mixed Anxiety Depression. She prescribed me: 25 mg Sertraline - Once in a day 0.25 mg Clonazepam - Twice in a day She also asked me to continue with Propranolol like I did.

Avatar n tn OK, so for the last 4 nights, as soon as I go to sleep I get these spikes of High Blood Pressure. At first I thought they were low blood sugar spells. My endo gave me a glucose meter to test and that was not the case. I bought a blood pressure monitor and sure enought my blood pressure has been spiking. Last night I went to the ER and was all was well until I started dozing off to sleep, blood pressure went up and up. They gave me Adavan and watched me sleep.
5252520 tn?1366044234 I am 22 and I've been on propranolol for about 3 years starting at 160mg for panic attacks and anxiety. I have weaned myself (with the help of my doc) down to 10 mg in the morn and 10 mg at night. It's taken about a year and a half! Last week I found out I was pregnant! Unplanned but exciting! however I have to come off my propranolol now for good. I've started to miss my evening dose and then next week they want me to do 10mg on alternate days, then cut it out completely.
4155003 tn?1351614311 Propranolol is blocking the ability for blood vessels to dilate and the effect is a so-called unopposed alpha activity, which causes constricted blood vessels and extremely high blood pressure (strokes and heart attacks). The heart rate can also get dangerously slow in response (compensatory bradycardia). Stopping taking propranolol just to go out and take cocaine sounds like a very bad idea.
793815 tn?1285491456 ieve the procedure even helped me I am 49 yrs old female he told me I had a congenial heart defect and needed this procedure now I am going to see another ep for a second opinion before I start that propranolol again because when they took me off it I had severe chest pain and high heart rates...
Avatar f tn I really really need some help or suggestions. Here is my story. Had a baby June 3rd. One week later I had Bradycardia 39-45 BPM sitting and standing. It lasted 3 weeks and then went away. A few weeks later I stood up to close a window, got dizzy and almost fell down. I went to the ER and my BP was in the 190's. Ive never had high BP in my life. It gradually went down after 6 hours. A week later these sensations started in my chest and stomach.
Avatar f tn 5 months before the end of school) because of this diarrhea, and, while waiting for my appointment, experienced a very high heart rate. I naturally brought this up to my doctor and he referred me to a pediatrician (for both this and the diarrhea). My pediatrician ran all the tests he could (I am scheduled to see a cardiologist in january and I am scheduled for a renal ultrasound this fall), being the specific professional that he is, which all came back normal.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have had chronic migraines for 3 years and any loud noise, sudden change (even emotional) would get my heart racing along with a bad migraine. I was on propranolol 60 mg a day, which worked well. I switched to metropolol which isnt working as well but I still have not fixed the dose. More importantly, I have finally got to the root cause of my migraines. I moved to Canada in 2009 and a year later my chronic migraines started (didnt even know what they were before ).
Avatar m tn people taking propranolol go to a dentist, get an injection of local anestethics containing adrenaline, and get a heart rate of 40 with blood pressure 200/110. If you on occations get a blood pressure of 210/110 without any obvious cause, you should consider ruling out conditions inappropriately increasing your stress hormones. A blood pressure of 210/110 is dangerous and should not be ignored.
Avatar f tn I still do get headaches, but they are less frequent and of a markedly lower intensity when I do get them. Instead of 4-5 headaches a week, half of which are of medium intensity, I get about 2 headaches a week which are low intensity. In other words, I can stand it even if the OTC pain reliever doesn't do much. I'm still at a modest dose and can't go up any further.
10894761 tn?1413637884 By the way, I was reading about PVCs and found some information about VT, I know it's a completely different thing, but I wanted to ask this: How does a run of VT feels? When you have a fast HR and frequent ectopics (7-8 in a minute), even if they are isolated, can it be VT? I'm asking this because I have some episodes of fast HR with runs of isolated PVCs which last about 3-4 minutes. The HR doesn't get high instantly and doesn't get slow instantly.
Avatar m tn Hello, I've been using propranolol over a year for performance anxiety. I made the mistake to stop cold turkey for about two weeks during semester break. I used to take 120mg. When school started again, during the first week I used propranolol for two days at the same dose and I realised that blushing, high blood pressure, palpitations came back. The second week I tried to increase the dose in order to overcome withdrawl. However, the outcome was even worse.
Avatar n tn Only take propranolol with other psych meds if you have high diastolic BP or too fast a heart beat. Propranolol is very mildly effective for anxiety. I take Klonopin only at the onset of a panic attack. I let it disolve under my tongue. The combination of the three should not be routinely taken.
Avatar n tn I am a 30 year old male and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. I also had several episodes of panic attacks. After 4 months of treatment with carbimazole & propranolol, I am now clinically euthyroid and there's no more panic attacks & tachycardia. I have been doing brisk walking for last one month. I started slowly, but now I walk briskly on plain surface, slopes and stairs. I walk approx 2 miles everyday for 45 minutes. I have been still advised to be on Carbimazole 20 mg.
Avatar n tn I usually have high blood pressure. I'm on propranolol to control it, a very low dose of propranolol at that, but for the past few days, my blood pressure has been exceptionally low. My heart rate too, for example this morning my blood pressure is 112/66 heart rate 61. It's been like this the past few days, heart rate as low as 54 and blood pressure as low as 100/59. What's up with this?
Avatar f tn I take propranolol for akathisia. Its primary use is for high blood pressure but it also works for akathisia and anxiety. I haven't found anything that states it causes memory problems. I would suspect the sleeping pills. Memory problems can also be caused by depression. The best thing you can do about it is to tell your psychiatrist was is happening with side effects.
