10610562 tn?1411418414 So, I am a 29 year old male. 5'7" 130lbs. I was put on propranolol to reduce the heart rate, as well to possible help with my anxiety and panic. This medication worked really well for me. It helped ease my mind, enough to where I felt more comfortable leaving the house and being productive. It completely got rid of my embarrassingly shaky hands. I was so happy. Then, I noticed my asthma was being severely effected.
Avatar m tn I recently was having palpitations and have been given propranolol. I know that it is usually not to be used if you have asthma, However, i also read that many athmatics can use it. I used it a long time ago when i was a teenager, before i developed asthma and it was great. Also read from some websites that it can be quite dangerous. Not sure if i should take it or not. Any advice.
Avatar f tn Even tho I am asthmatic I was put on 40mg propranolol daily, it changed my life, I was able to queue up in public places etc without the fear of fainting. Anyway 5 years later, 3 weeks ago I experienced sleep paralysis for the 1st time. I suffered the hallucinations and died basically then fully woke up. I was a little shaken but the rest of the day I had dizziness and palpatations, of the kind K had before being on propranolol.
Avatar f tn I am a 30 year old female that has suffered from depression, anxiety, OCD, and ADHD since childhood. I have been on at least 7 different medications over the years that have and have not worked for various symptoms; however, I can't find one that works for them all. I have been taking 50 mg of Zoloft for about 3 years and it works great for my depression and the best thing I've ever taken for my OCD, but my anxiety is worse than it has ever been.
Avatar n tn I have had resting tachycardia with arrythmia for at least 6 months, and at the same time I developed an intermittent heavy feeling in my chest (at the sternum, and slightly to the right). I was put on propranolol 100mg due to the tachycardia, at which time the chest feeling became constant. It worsens at night with a dry cough and I occasionally get a bit weezy. I saw my GP who said I have probably developed asthma and she prescribed an inhaler, which has not helped significantly.
Avatar n tn It seems like the slightest bit of activity causes my heartrate to really jump..I was recently evaluated by a cardiologist for palpitations and I take Propranolol 10mg once daily...well I was having this shortness of breath thing in the morning then and really forgot to mention it to the doc. But Ive had a whole cardiac workup and everything was fine.
Avatar n tn I have frequent episodes of rapid, irregular heart rate. Finally, we caught it on an event monitor and it was diagnosed as Paroxyxmal Atrial Tachycardia. I assume this is the same as PSVT? Due to relocation, change of doctors, etc., I have ended up with three doctors all giving me different advice. They all agree that it is benign, but aggravating. I get lightheaded, cough and feel somewhat "confused" when it happens. Nevertheless, they've assured me it's ok.
Avatar n tn Unfortunately, propranolol often makes breathing disorders, such as asthma, worse because it tends to constrict breathing passages and sometimes causes fluid to build up in the lungs if it excessively depresses the heart. In the treatment of anxiety, propranolol is usually not administered on a chronic basis but, rather, prior to stressful events such as public speaking or acting. ----------------------------------- Have you been diagnosed with anxiety?
Avatar n tn I have been getting bad anxiety the doctor has given me 10 mg of Propranolol, I am not sure about taken them because, I have a history of asthma which, I don't have anymore but I would like to just try the pill once or twice to see what the drug is like would that be dangerous, due to withdrawal symptoms or does that only occur with people taking them for a while
Avatar f tn I am a 25 year old female. I have never smoked. I drink maybe 3 times a year. I have been having chest pains over the past couple of hours. It has been a steady pain....(7-7.5 on a scale of 1-10)... I've had a little bit of pain in my shoulder as well...What could be causing this? I am 5'8" and I weigh 260. I do have high blood pressure and asthma, (i take Lisinopril and Albuterol for those).
Avatar f tn low dose of 5mg mainly to help my kidneys as I am diabetic. Over one year went up to lisinipril 40 mg and it stopped working. I was put on propranolol and then metoprolol with the following awful side effects: dry mouth, shortness of breath. They did lower my pressure though. Along with these, I took HCTZ 12.5 mg which also have me those same sided effects.
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried PROPRANOLOL for prevention of Migraines? I have struggled with headaches almost every day & Migraines aprox every 7-10 days for the last 10 years. Feverfew has helped but they now seem to be getting worst so I was thinking of asking my GP if I could try Propranolol.
4155003 tn?1351614311 ive bin on propranolol for about 12weeks & weaned myself down to 10ml every other day, i took 10ml propranolol 52hours ago & not going to take another one as im ready to stop. when will it be fully out my system?
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar m tn it may be secondary to chronic pain syndromes etc, acid reflux disease, etc, related to any medicines that you might be taking like anti asthma, stimulants, anti hypertensive, etc. treatment might include cognitive behavioral therapy, rest, regular exercises and deep breathing exercises, drugs including benzodiazepine sedatives, like temazepam, non benzodiazepines like zolpidem, etc.Hope this helps. Take care.
735933 tn?1272296626 could this be an anxiety problem??My doctor advice me to take propranolol for a month 20mg twicea day and hydroxycine before bedtime for 3 days..but they cant diagnose my helth problem..
Avatar f tn 4 days ago pcp changed my beta blocker from propranolol 40mg twice daily to metprolol er 25mg daily d/t low pulse in 40s- 50s. Been on propranolol for 22yrs for PVCS. She had me just stop propranolol and start metoprolol, been experiencing shakiness, occassional pvcs, headache, nausea, pulse still 45 - low 60s at rest and with exertion 70-90. Should she have tapered propranolol or will the metoprolol block the more serious withdrawal symptoms ie: HTN, chest pain ect.
Avatar m tn Propranolol is not on the list of contraindicated drugs for Harvoni. Here is the list: http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/ledipasvir-sofosbuvir,harvoni-index.
Avatar f tn When did you start taking Propranolol 20 mg? Side effects of propranolol include abdominal cramps, diarrhea, constipation, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory loss, fever, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, and shortness of breath( ref: http://www.medicinenet.com/propranolol/page2.htm). It is possible that your symptoms are related to the medication you are taking.
Avatar f tn I take propranolol the dosage is up to your doctor it doesn't really make you tired although everyone is different but it doesn't me it's suppose to be for stress and anxiety but I don't think it helps very well you might consider ativan there isn't a medication that has propranolol in it there is a script of propranolol by itself it's not mixed with any medication
Avatar n tn Sertraline and other Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) inhibit a certain enzyme which usually metabolizes Propranolol. Due to this inhibition, Propranolol action may be enhanced. But it will not be appropriate to look at this isolated piece of information and ignore other evidences. We do have a lot of trials and reviews exploring the combination. There is no conclusive evidence which allows us to deem this combination unacceptable.
