Avatar n tn A few years ago, I was experiencing hyper symptoms, sleep seemed impossible, 3-5 hrs nightly. I tried Melatonin, and other sleep aids, that put me to sleep, but didn't keep me asleep. I was prescribed Hydroxyzine 10mg, for sleep. Hydroxyzine put me to sleep and kept me asleep up to 10 hrs solid. Only con was, waking up a little tired, but tiredness wears off after an hour or two, was active rest of day. Hydroxyzine is also used to treat anxiety, but at higher doses.
Avatar f tn Why do you want to discontinue your medication. Regularly meds should be weaned down.
Avatar n tn Last night I went to the ER and was all was well until I started dozing off to sleep, blood pressure went up and up. They gave me Adavan and watched me sleep. That did the trick and leveled out my blood pressure. The Dr. said it was not anxiety as I am asleep and it has something to do with my autonomic system and thryoid. Has anyone ever experienced this or high blood pressure with Hypothyroid? I am feeling really alone and scared.
Avatar f tn I have a history of migraines for about twenty years. I quit smoking 7 months ago, and started propranolol 20 mg once a day. I gained 30 pounds. My whole body is sore and Im having episodes where my upper body and sometimes legs just feel so heavy and tired I feel like Im going to pass out. Had a Head CT, Head and Neck CTA, CBC, EKG all were normal. Is it related to migraine? ER doctor said it is anxiety. Oh I stopped celexa five months ago because I was extremely fatigued.
Avatar n tn I read Sertraline reacts with Propranolol. It makes Propranolol more toxic and can give me low BP and bradycardia. Recently my BP was a bit high (140/90) and pulse rate was 72. Shall I take the psychiatric medicines and how should I schedule the medications without suffering a lot?
Avatar m tn Hi Dr Raj thanks a lot for your kindness by answering my quetion, wich helps me to continue my dosage without any fear.i would like to ask if i take propranolol only when i need and just avoid it when i don't need,is that ok?or stopping suddenly will course posible heart attack or anyother symptoms.be kind enough to answer me again.
Avatar m tn Sleep apnea has been suggested to predispose someone for a stroke and a stroke can predispose someone to sleep apnea (up to 70% of people in some studies). Headaches and sleep disturbances are also strongly associated. It is important that your husband continue to work with his sleep specialist to optimize his CPAP. Additionally, he will need to optimize his medical management, i.e., hypertension. A neurologist would be helpful in treating the headaches.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Propranolol for high blood pressure and tachycardia(10mg at 8am, 2pm, and 8pm) for about 18 days now, and four days ago I woke up feeling quite dizzy. Since then it seemed to get better, but now I feel lethargic, dizzy, and generally unwell. Is it my drug? Note: I'm a 15-year-old male.
Avatar f tn I read that too much potassium doesn’t work well while on propranolol because while on it the body does not excrete potassium as normally and you can get levels that are too high. Could this be the cause or is there an adjustment period while taking propranolol? I’ve been drinking pomegranate juice and cherry juice, 4 oz of each, with breakfast this past week. These are very high in potassium. Something is making me feel very strange and I’m hoping it wears off.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism last august and have been on propranolol and methimazole since. I was taking four methimazole and now my specialist increased it to 5 and that really makes me sad. I'm gaining weight and feel so awful about myself. Yes i am feeling better which is worth alot but my hot flashes are insane. My pituitary gland is what the specialist refers to as "sleeping" and so I was wondering if you have any suggestions as to how to wake it up.
Avatar n tn This lasted for a couple hours and eventually went away completely and I was able to go back to sleep. I am not quite sure what exactly is going on or what it is. I would love any insight into this. PS. I DO have an appointment with my physician for a physical this coming week and hope to find more results.
534360 tn?1234721915 i have been prescribed 10 mg of Citalopram for depression today and 40 mg of beta blocker propanolol 3 times a day i stat them all tomorrow i also struggle to sleep and have spare zopiclones 7.5 mg left from a while ago i forgot to ask the doc can i take zopiclone at night to sleep??
Avatar n tn Mostly it happens at night but i still cant sleep during the day. I feel like i am going crazy and the only way i can sleep atall is by taking a bunch of sleeping pills but now they dont even work as my body has got used to them. I was prescribed Propranolol by the doc a year ago and taking 80mg seems to help sometimes but i have low blood pressure anyway and i really dont want to take these as they only sometimes help. I took 2 last night and here i am awake at 3.30am.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know how propranolol effects exercise? I do triathlon and train using a heart rate monitor. I am wondering if I would be able to progress athletically given my heart rate would be lowered substantially?
Avatar f tn So, I started researching it and have found that it is not generally used for someone with generalized anxiety but usually for those that have anxiety in certain situations. I wake up and go to sleep with a lump of anxiety in my chest. I also read that it is not good to use regularly for someone with asthma. Any suggestions or feedback on your experiences with this?
Avatar f tn I was a little shaken but the rest of the day I had dizziness and palpatations, of the kind K had before being on propranolol. I ended up at the out of hours doctor who basically laughed it off and played the ‘anxiety’ excuse, the next day I went to my GP who thoroughly looked into all the scans And ecgs I had in 2013, which were of no concern, he wants me now to see a cardiologist. 3 weeks later still not letter from the hospital.
3122467 tn?1342138836 To deal with it, I take a beta blocker, propranolol, and it works beautifully. Not only does it take care of the akathisia it also treats anxiety. Once i ran out of propranolol because it hadn't arrived from the mail order pharmacy and the akathisia came back so I know two things... I still have it and propranolol stops it.
Avatar f tn 30am and the second at 2:30pm (very close together). My heart rate dropped to 55, but my BP also dropped to 90/43. I have very low BP to begin with... I felt okay, a little light headed, but no more pounding. Thought i would finally sleep through the night, but an hour in I awoke to my heart racing and pounding. This carried on for the entire night; drifting, waking, drifting, waking and so on. Here are my questions. 1.
865431 tn?1239774493 Thank you very much, and I am sure you just remind me a good point. Last week, my cardiologist gives me medicine for heart failure(Bisoprolol). For this, I fall into serious depress. My cardiologist and respiratory have very different suggestion regards to my trouble. They both indicate me to skip the medicine another one offers me......
Avatar f tn I got my period on 2 may this month and it was very light like a red/brownish and only lasted 2 days approximately and my periods normally last up to 5-6 days and are quite heavy. 2 weeks later I have come back on again this time seems normal I'm quite heavy. Has anyone else had this problem or similar and would you say it's something to worry about I just want to talk to people with the same situation so I feel comfortable and can kinda put my mind at rest a little.
Avatar f tn re not also busy diagnosing and treating the flu and heart problems and body pain etc. So theoretically they become much more expert in it and the interactions between drugs and things like quitting smoking and also in the appropriate drugs to prescribe for a certain condition. Beta blockers, for example, have only been found effective for social anxiety, which doesn't mean they don't work for some people for other things but that's not their main use in anxiety treatment.
Avatar n tn I also take the Propranolol twice a day for my heart. The Propranolol was prescribed for my heart and never for anything else. Now I am currently taking Propranolol in the morning along with Paxil, at night I take Propranolol again. I take the Klonopin is taken as needed twice a day.
Avatar f tn gaba is helpful for sleep and I took it when sleep was an issue...it also helps people on benzos tremendously as it is very similar to benzos in chemical make up....
Avatar n tn I had a sleep study done over a year ago and the doctor had mentioned this, I initially went in because I snore and I was constantly tired/fatigued and it progressively got at the end of my 20s. The findings were that I had resistance and would often wake up or disturb myself during sleep with the snoring. My oxygen level did not drop but it was thought that the constant waking up may be related to my tiredness during the day.
Avatar f tn In the end, NOTHING could control the levels and I had RAI and TT in 2008.
Avatar f tn I take it daily however it is along with other meds too. Usually treating migraines and/or anxiety is not a one-thing-fix-all. And even if something worked on you in the past may not work today and vise-versa. You can definitely ask about it, it won't hurt. But, my suggestion is to just let your doctor how bad it is and let him/her choose what to give you next. Remember, treatment is a marathon, not a sprint.
Avatar f tn I have been given propranolol to take as I have had continuous palpitations since monday and my heartrate has randomly shooting up in the 100's (not related to posture!!) These will also help with my bp, it has been creeping up. I have had these in the past but was more recently on bisoprolol. Which is more common for POTS symptoms? I was in A&E last night and back at my GP's this morning. I have been refered back to the cardiologist who is going to see me in november.
4155003 tn?1351614311 You need to talk to your doctor before getting out, i try propanolol because doctor said i had hyperthyroid, i took a pill, n discover chest pain, do i stop right away, i went back to the doctor and told her what happen and she dismissed for me to take propanolol and she said my blood work came back normal, i heard if you been taking propanolol for a while is bad to just quit, it can cause worse symptoms, so talk to ur doc, she will recommend lower dose, then she will take u off, if she thinks i
