I had thyroid checked and he said everything was fine, that these feeling were just a part of menopause. I think I am going to go off my prometrium and next month use a progesterone creme ans see if anything is different. What do you take?
My Dr has prescribed Prometrium 200mgs to be taken for the 1st 5 days of my next period. Everything I have read about this is that it is usually prescribed for 10 days before your period, so I am confused. Also, he mentioned that Prometrium will help protect me from endometrial cancer and possibly breast cancer. I read that it may increase the risk of breast cancer so I am totally confused.
Can someone help and offer advice? I am going for a 2nd opinion in December with another Ob/Gyn.
I'm 51 years old. I was on DepoProvera up until a year ago so I haven't had a period in over 15 years. Since I've been off the depo i have not had a period. is there some way to tell if i'm menopause, or if i'm done with it? I am sexually active, and I need to know if I need to use any birth control?
The estrogen level was ok but doc felt this number just took longer to fall. The third number was also way off. Doc said at this time that I was in menopause. I had an appointment with her and family doc and both felt that I was done with periods. (yahoo!). The hot flashes lasted about 10 weeks and then disappeared as suddenly as they came on. It was not a gradual start or reduction - one day they were there and then gone. (yahoo!).
You are not considered in menopause until you haven't had a period for a year. Perimenopause can last up to 10 years, and you do still ovulate during this time, although it is common for your cycles to be irregular.
Having an LH surge does not necessarily mean you ovulated. All it tells you is that your body is gearing up to, or attempting to ovulate. Sometimes you won't and then may experience another surge later on in your cycle.
The 2mg dose of estrace seemed to help with the mood swings but the sweating and frontal hair loss has been devastating to me to say the least.The Dr. now has me on 100mg of prometrium together with 1 mg of Estrace, but stated to me that I shouldn't really need the prometrium beings I don't have a Uterus anymore.Am I going to keep loosing my hair like this?I'm sick about it b/c my hair is already so fine and thin. What can I do?
I stopped the Prometrium for 10 days and MY BLEEDING STOPPED ENTIRELY so it has to be the Prometrium. I know I need progesterone as still have my uterus but am I the only one that is seeing this happen? I was told by Sott Pelle providers that a women minimally needs progesterone 14 days every third month. Can someone tell me their experience with this?
I went through the saliva hormonal testing and found out that I am in menopause ....... being estrogen dominant. I am taking prometrium, 200 mg at night. My night sweats are gone - but I still don't feel energized.
My T3, Reverse levels are at 36 -- a little high with normal being 11-32 ng/dL. No meds were given to me on this.
Do I need to be on meds to keep this stablized? And I need someone to explain the Reverse T3 to me.
Do any of you have suggestions? I noticed someone was on Climera and another was on the Vivelle w/ Prometrium. What dose of prometrium do you take?
While I still feel better than I did before my hyst. (pain wise anyway) there has to be some way to control these hot flashes!
I am not 100% positive but im pretty sure that you can only get this with a doctors prescription. I used prometrium pills that were prescribed to me and had no side effects. I hear the creams are super messy. Good luck!
I started a period after I stopped the pill this past September and have not had one since even after a round of Prometrium. My FSH is 26.1 and now my MD wants me to come in and take another FSH test to find out if I am menopausal. I guess he knows best, but I thought the test would be more accurate on day 3, but he said if I can't start it may be because of low estrogen/menopause. I can't do a day 3 b/c I can't start a period.
I also have anxiety go to along with this great menopause thing. Can someone tell me what i need to do to get my life back the way it used to be.
I am 55 and went through menopause almost 5 years ago. I use a generic weekly estradiol patch (.1 mg) and Prometrium (200 mg) every night due to extreme menopausal symptoms. I change my patch on Monday evenings. I bleed for several days beginning every other Monday. Could this be caused by the patch losing effectiveness before the week is up? Would switching to Vivelle Dot, which has a twice a week schedule, help prevent the bleeding?
To help me avoid radical menopause sypmtoms, my doctor immediately started me on a .5 mg. Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel.
I read somewhere on the internet this could be a sign of early menopause. I am 24!! I have also taken a dozen pregnancy test and their negative. I need HELP!!
I've been doing some research on prometrium . I was prescribed prometrium since the month of Feb. In Feb.,I ovulated with the help of clomid and prometrium. My progesterone levels were 34. In March my cycle never came and I contacted my Dr on Apr. 9 letting her know I never had my cycle. She schedule me to take some test to take . On 14 my cycle visited and was very weird . her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes.
been on different antibotics was tols it was clear but i still have burning,now im on estradiol 1 mg and prometrium 100 mg i have no uterus and she ordered me testotestorone from a compounding pharmcay..
I'm 56 and not in menopause and I have no idea when it will happen. My last hormone tests show my estrogen to be decreasing - it was at level 53 but my FSH was only 4! I am trying to control my wacky and heavy bleeding with progestins with mixed results. Prometrium isn't working well and Aygestin is giving me cramps. I am considering having an endometrial ablation done which is an hour long procedure, they do a D&C, a histerscopy and the burning out the lining.
I was in prometrium 200mg once a day with my 3rd pregnancy..and still i m/c at 17&1/2 weeks.. and i stopped taking the prometrium at my 15&1/2weeks( i should only take them for 12 weeks, but my dr told me to continued the left pills..) still don't know the reason why,, if it's bec. i stopped taking the progesterone supplement or there is some thing else..
I have tinkered with Prometrium and testosterone cream. I have read mixed results about progesterone after hysterectomy. The testosterone cream, I thought, was causing acne. I NEVER have acne, so I stopped taking that.
I noticed other issues going on and my regular doctor said it was due to the V-dot patch. My gyno did blood work and it came back low thyroid. I am scheduled to see the Endocrinologist on Monday. I have, since, been taking Synthroid for the thyroid issues.
