Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium hrt

prometrium

Avatar n tn I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint. The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes. The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease. My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight. I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily. I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.
Avatar n tn Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel. What other alternatives would you suggest to the 100 mg. prometrium?
Avatar f tn I did not get periods for 2 months but I was getting some kind of bleeding every now and then. My gynac suggested me to take prometrium for 10 days after seeing a follicle. Its been 7 days now that i have stopped prometrium but still no periods. I have take HPT too in the past week and both the tests are negative. I am confused if I am pregnant or not Could some one suggest me here any solution. Also, when should we take the HPT once we stop prometrium.
Avatar n tn Fibroids and polyps are almost always benign (~99%) so hysterectomy would be overkill. And hysterectomy causes lifelong harm. I call it the surgery that keeps on giving... problem after problem... even if the ovaries are "preserved." Intercourse or pelvic exams can cause polyps to bleed. And if they aren't removed at the base, they can recur and cause heavy bleeding. What were the reasons for the D&C's - as part of the polyp removal or was your lining too thick?
Avatar f tn Hello, I have never been in a group forum so this is a little different for me. I had a total lap hys. approx. 2.5 yr's ago. I am 32 now and my HRT is not helping AT ALL! I am currently on 2 mg Estrace. I am having terrible hot flashes to the point that I wake up in a puddle of sweat, then I get freezing cold. I have been researching varrious HRT' on micromedex. I think I need an added progesterone, but I have been told PREMPRO has some hard side affects.
Avatar n tn m not a candidate for HRT due to my history of cancer and wondered if bio-identical hormones would help with my symptoms of menopause?
Avatar f tn I am receiving conflicting information regarding treatment for hrt. I have a uterus in tact I was prescribed combined hrt progesterone and estrogen estarlis patches. Then I went to another gyno who said that recent studies have proved that estrogen only with uterus in tact is safer that in fact it's the progesterone that is toxic. Is anyone receiving the same advice?
Avatar m tn After my hysterectomy, the doctor started me on estrogen therapy, Premarin 0.9 daily. A few months ago, I recorded an episode of Oprah, the topic was HRT. After watching this episode, I promptly made an appointment with my family doctor to discuss other HRT options. I stopped taking my Premarin, and upon my request for a safer or natural hormone, she prescribed estradiol .05 once a week patch, just recently (last week) added Prometrium, 200 mg. daily. My health/sanity issues have not changed.
Avatar f tn t make much of a difference. Can I take only the Estrogen HRT and toss the Microgest, or is it too much of a risk? It seems I have exhausted many options and Estrogen seems to be the last one.
Avatar f tn been on different antibotics was tols it was clear but i still have burning, now im on estradiol 1 mg and prometrium 100 mg i have no uterus and she ordered me testotestorone from a compounding pharmcay..
Avatar f tn I am not 100% positive but im pretty sure that you can only get this with a doctors prescription. I used prometrium pills that were prescribed to me and had no side effects. I hear the creams are super messy. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I stopped the Prometrium for 10 days and MY BLEEDING STOPPED ENTIRELY so it has to be the Prometrium. I know I need progesterone as still have my uterus but am I the only one that is seeing this happen? I was told by Sott Pelle providers that a women minimally needs progesterone 14 days every third month. Can someone tell me their experience with this?
Avatar f tn I use a generic weekly estradiol patch (.1 mg) and Prometrium (200 mg) every night due to extreme menopausal symptoms. I change my patch on Monday evenings. I bleed for several days beginning every other Monday. Could this be caused by the patch losing effectiveness before the week is up? Would switching to Vivelle Dot, which has a twice a week schedule, help prevent the bleeding?
Avatar n tn no one could figure it out and called it just stress and tried to give me meds.. The meds made things worse and now I am just on HRT and feel much better except I wake up frequently throughout the night and have been awakened lately with a racing heart and a burning sensation on the left side as well. Has anyone else had this happen to them? Also could the HRT be causing this.. I didnt have this until the doctor said I needed HRT.
988694 tn?1332359479 -) She tested my FT3 and FT4 and of course they were abnormal so she put me on Bio-identical HRT which seemed to correct the problems. Went back about a year later for a checkup (with a few new symptoms) and blood tests showed my FT3 was very low despite my FT4 being OK. She put me on a T3 med which I am now having difficulty adjusting to. Have an appointment tomorrow to discuss my symptoms.
405824 tn?1201817954 just as you can with HRT? Frankly, I am not a fan of HRT ...Premarin, Provera, Prempro, which is Premarin and Provera together, and many women have had problems with these drugs. As far as the bioidentical hormones are concerned, when you are out of balance (estrogen and Progesterone in balance is key) you can run into problems...
Avatar f tn I'm 53. Haven't had a period in 14 months. I don't take any hrt but really have some strange feelings some days. Why is it some days you feel so good and the other days you don't even feel like getting out of bed. I just feel so tired all the time. I also have anxiety go to along with this great menopause thing. Can someone tell me what i need to do to get my life back the way it used to be.
1018470 tn?1251333523 I thought it would help, and it has at least where the hot flashes are concerned (no more since starting HRT). Sleep got better after about a month, but is not as good as it was after first starting HRT. Now, I'm in another T mess because of the HRT. I know before starting HRT, my T med (Levothroid) was either to much (75 mcg) which would plument my TSH under 1.0 and I was having severe Hyper/hypo symptoms, or not enough (50 mcg) and when my TSH would go above 2.
Avatar f tn I've been doing some research on prometrium . I was prescribed prometrium since the month of Feb. In Feb.,I ovulated with the help of clomid and prometrium. My progesterone levels were 34. In March my cycle never came and I contacted my Dr on Apr. 9 letting her know I never had my cycle. She schedule me to take some test to take . On 14 my cycle visited and was very weird . her instructions for the prometrium is to take on cycle day 16 and continue to take until a cycle comes.
659607 tn?1247116266 Hi Candy, Well I have a few thoughts, it sounds great about the HRT it takes somewomen a lot of tweaking to get it right..What do you mean about the use in your arm and hand being back....loosing that is never related to a hysterectomy..How much does your weight jump up and down are we talking 5 lbs or more,.? Im really going to advise you to visit your gyn ASAP...the bloating may be related to prior hyster,,if it is your doc will know...
611020 tn?1290571629 Does anyone know if you're taking Prometrium, and you are miscarrying, can the prometrium prevent any sign of the m/c ? i.e. can it prevent spotting/bleeding/cramping , or will the m/c go through anyway.?
Avatar n tn Sorry I am too new at the hrt thing myself. I have just been relying on my doctor to tell me what is best for me.
Avatar f tn My oncologist has made it very clear that I am not a canidate for HRT even though I have had a bilateral mastectomy and the cancer I had was not hormone dependent. They only thing she may consider is an estrogen ring which only releases a small amount of estrogen which absorbs locally. Very little is actually released into the bloodstream. This would only be used if other non-hormonal lubricants did not work. This will not do much for other menopausal symptoms.
Avatar m tn I stopped HRT in late Nov. after 12 years (I was on a very low dose) and am now struggling with sleep. I can fall asleep just fine but wake up every 45 min- 1 hour all night long. Even sleeping pills like Lunesta and Halcion don't get me through the whole night, I am awake by 2 or 3 am and then off and on for the rest of the night. I did not have any problems with sleep while on HRT but each time I've tried to go off, I have trouble with sleep.
Avatar f tn I would do alot of research - there are some good message boards on HRT and what is available. Bioidenticals are identical to what your body would be making and that's what I'm on now and anxiety is gone, no more heart palps, and no more off and on hot flashes - which I rarely got but I sometimes did. Please don't go estrogen dominant. American Dr.'s are so far behind the times when it comes to our hormones.
Avatar f tn That seems to work great, no more real low moments but the last week I have noticed ( been off hrt now for 16 months ) that I am experiencing alot of vaginal dryness, cotton mouth, breast tenderness and the dreaded hot flashes. I do not know what to do. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn My Dr. put me on an hrt FEMHRT. I started my period again Monday is this normal or not. My Dr. told me to continue taking them.
