Prometrium for hrt

Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium for hrt

prometrium

Avatar n tn I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint. The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes. The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease. My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight. I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily. I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.

Avatar n tn Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel. What other alternatives would you suggest to the 100 mg. prometrium?
Avatar f tn I did not get periods for 2 months but I was getting some kind of bleeding every now and then. My gynac suggested me to take prometrium for 10 days after seeing a follicle. Its been 7 days now that i have stopped prometrium but still no periods. I have take HPT too in the past week and both the tests are negative. I am confused if I am pregnant or not Could some one suggest me here any solution. Also, when should we take the HPT once we stop prometrium.
Avatar n tn m not a candidate for HRT due to my history of cancer and wondered if bio-identical hormones would help with my symptoms of menopause?
Avatar f tn I am receiving conflicting information regarding treatment for hrt. I have a uterus in tact I was prescribed combined hrt progesterone and estrogen estarlis patches. Then I went to another gyno who said that recent studies have proved that estrogen only with uterus in tact is safer that in fact it's the progesterone that is toxic. Is anyone receiving the same advice?
Avatar f tn Estrogen does contribute to breast health changes, but if you are a good candidate for HRT, it has its merits. Besides helping with symptoms, it helps you maintain bone density. If you are in a high risk category for osteoporosis and low for breast cancer, you might consider HRT. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I was on a brand name HRT sequential regime for years consisting of 2 weeks of estrogen and 2 wks Of progesterone added. Them my doc wanted me to try a generic estrogen which I would Lake for three months and then add or take progesterone for a few days. When I did this and got to the progesterone part, after two days I felt weak, couldn’t think straight, had trouble walking, had vision problems.
Avatar f tn Im thinking you need a combo hrt ..no estrogene at all? your adernal gland should be trickling a bit of that but most comes from ovaries which no longer exist. see a new obgyn or theres a farily new help called Nurse practioner specilising in menopause and hrt...since thats all they do they really know there stuff, rapid heart rate only when on meds? if it happens other times Id advise a cardiologist,. would not hurt to see one anyways for a simple ekg.
Avatar f tn I stopped the Prometrium for 10 days and MY BLEEDING STOPPED ENTIRELY so it has to be the Prometrium. I know I need progesterone as still have my uterus but am I the only one that is seeing this happen? I was told by Sott Pelle providers that a women minimally needs progesterone 14 days every third month. Can someone tell me their experience with this?
Avatar f tn The difference in cost for me is $120 versus $20 for a 3-month mail-order prescription. I am willing to pay $400 a year extra for the lessened symptoms, but others might be financially unable. I have heard that some women change their weekly patch every 5 days with their doctors' approval and the approval of their insurance companies.
Avatar n tn I told the doctors enough is enough you have ruined my summer and I want my old self back.. No prescriptions for anything and I am stopping the HRT therapy as well.. Relaxation mp3s are the best, trying hypnosis to get my old positve self back.. That I thinki is the best thing to do.. I too think I have adrenal fatigue from all the stress and anxiety that they have caused. Try not to think about it and go the natural way Metalonin is also helpful for sleep..BP is also affected by HRT therapy.
Avatar n tn My Dr has prescribed Prometrium 200mgs to be taken for the 1st 5 days of my next period. Everything I have read about this is that it is usually prescribed for 10 days before your period, so I am confused. Also, he mentioned that Prometrium will help protect me from endometrial cancer and possibly breast cancer. I read that it may increase the risk of breast cancer so I am totally confused. Can someone help and offer advice? I am going for a 2nd opinion in December with another Ob/Gyn.
988694 tn?1332359479 s assertion that it is not monitored for safety is inexcusably ignorant. However, you may have to take Prometrium and have a problem before your insurance company will give you a compound. This is called "step therapy" and most insurance companies require it. Prometrium is on most insurance formularies and there is no excuse for your doctor not prescribing it if it is available to you. It made me cough because of the peanut oil, otherwise I would take it.
1404364 tn?1289431561 My cycle is nowhere to be seen (not totally uncommon for me) and my last period was in mid-December. My OB was fine with giving me an Rx for BC pills to induce a bleed, but when I called the RE's office, she said that I shouldn't start them and that we will talk about an alternate route at the appt. Now I'm just curious what types of drugs they would put me on? Are there stronger injectibles to induce a period?
Avatar m tn I have had uterus and cervix removed 11 years ago and my ovaries and fallopian tubes plus 1 pelvic cyst removed 7 years ago.I was put on hrt 8 years ago before my ovaries and fallopian tubes were removed. 6 mo after everything was out a new pelvic cyst grew on my cuff. Because of how many surgeries I have had down their the dr was worried about scar tissue and chose to remove fluid from the cyst instead of removing the cyst. At 5 years later they found a second cyst right next to the 1st one.
405824 tn?1201817954 I wondered if you are on the combi-patch? ...Estrogen and Progesterone? or just estrogen. Do you mind saying what brand (Vivelle?) and if you are not taking Progesterone, has anyone ever talked with you about this? If they think you are going into early menopause, you are likely not ovulating and so you would not be releasing progesterone.
Avatar f tn I'm 53. Haven't had a period in 14 months. I don't take any hrt but really have some strange feelings some days. Why is it some days you feel so good and the other days you don't even feel like getting out of bed. I just feel so tired all the time. I also have anxiety go to along with this great menopause thing. Can someone tell me what i need to do to get my life back the way it used to be.
Avatar f tn I had a total hysterectomy at 29. I took hrt for about a year and stopped. I was having you take shots every 2 weeks to get my levels to what they were before. That's been 18 years ago and the horrible clinical insomnia (by far the worst symptom) is out of control and has been for years. I can't take much more. I've been on every drug there is to combat this and NOTHING works. My health is deteriorating. I think hrt is my only option. But.. I'm 47 and I smoke.
Avatar f tn My mam saw her GP about 3 weeks ago because she was having trouble with pains in her legs and arms and pins and needles in both hands which are very painful , the doctor took her blood pressure which came back normal , shes 46 and on the menopause , she had a full hystdorectomy at 36 and is just off HRT tablets after taking them for 9 and 1/2 years.
688845 tn?1325182236 m curious because I to was put on 200mg vaginaly of prometrium. My hcg was at 23 and I feel thats low. I go back on Monday for a re-draw and count again.
Avatar f tn Everything is going great. I am on baby aspirin a day and 200mg 2x prometrium. its working for me! progesterone does an amazing job at holding pregnancies, and the baby asprin is to thin you blood so more goes to the uterus. This can also help if you have a blood clotting issue. i have never been tested for anything but i wanted to try 1 more time first with these medicines and i believe its really helping me.
1018470 tn?1251333523 I thought it would help, and it has at least where the hot flashes are concerned (no more since starting HRT). Sleep got better after about a month, but is not as good as it was after first starting HRT. Now, I'm in another T mess because of the HRT. I know before starting HRT, my T med (Levothroid) was either to much (75 mcg) which would plument my TSH under 1.0 and I was having severe Hyper/hypo symptoms, or not enough (50 mcg) and when my TSH would go above 2.
