prometrium

934644 tn?1245336749 I wonder how long it takes for the prometrium to dissolve and get into your system? Thank you for taking the time to help give me some some!
182352 tn?1231183410 hi everyone. i am 5 wks pregnant & my OBGYN just prescribed prometrium for low progestrone, and metformin ( the generic form of glucophage), due to my body not processing sugar properly. the prometrium bottle says DO NOT TAKE WHILE PREGNANT. i have read up on this & it seems to be a very common & helpful drug to take during early pregnancy. has anyone taken both, or either 1 alone while pregnant? my 1st pregnancy was a breeze & i hate taking anything during pregnancy.
Avatar n tn t cause m/c actually it prevents it. Many women take prometrium to support pregnancy. Many women have low level of progesterone so they start prometrium. It is safe to take. I started having some brown spotts the day when i had to do the first beta and my RE started me on prometrium and the spotting stopped. If you're having a m/c is not because of prometrium.Check your levels to see if is a good pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Because I had a miscarriage last year. They put me on prometrium. As soon as I found out I was pregnant. I went to get my HCG and progesteron checked. it was HCG 130 and progesterone 45.8 which is good. But they put me on it just in case. I started seeing a new doctor now and she she is sending me to a specialist for the medicine to see if I really need to keep taking the medication, because it could be harmful to a developing fetus. My appointment is Friday.
Avatar f tn ve heard about taking baby aspirin for pregnant women who have clotting issues. But does it make sense for me to take it if my blood test results haven't come back yet? I guess a part of me is a bit concerned because once again, I'm reading conflicting things on the web - ie - that taking aspirin during conception can actually contribute to a miscarriage (but maybe this is adult dose)? Happy Holidays!
Avatar f tn I was in a similar situation as you, and am now 19 1/2 weeks pregnant with a healthy little boy. I am 43 years old, had been trying for over a year and a half and had 2 m/c's along the way. Its possible, just stay hopeful. good luck to you for a happy healthy 9 months.
628735 tn?1273875777 I was given a prescription for Prometrium from my Dr. Im not pregnant yet but start clomid in 4 days. My Dr said not to start taking the prometrium until I get a BFP. I MC twins back in September, but am not sure if it was due to low progesterone. my question is, on the Prometrium pill container it says do not take if pregnant. I have been somewhat confused about this as the dr said to take it as soon as I get a +.
Avatar f tn Thank you everyone for your comments. Today is 14 dpo and got a BFN so I guess I can dafely stop the prometrium. However, I am still concerned as next cycle I will have to face the same issue. I was hoping to find someone with the same doctor's order that maybe had a successful pregnancy. But your esponses just scare me more as it is clear that doctors never stop the prometrium once you're pregnant!!
Avatar f tn Hi, good to hear pregancy is going well, from what I have read progesterone is usally prescibed upto week 12, but it may be different for some women... In regards to your due date, yes if the baby measured older than what you have expected which is usally according to your last cycle.. then your due date changes by the same number of days, whether backwards or forwards... best of luck and have a healthy pregnancy...
1328947 tn?1295011446 Hi There, My doc put me on progesterone two weeks ago when I first found out I was pregnant. I found it reassuring that lots of women use progesterone through the first trimester to help support the pregnancy. If your miscarriages are in fact from low progesterone then the prometrium will help. My levels were 13.8 for progesterone. Not sure how much the prometrium helps. I'm actually on something called Crinone which is taken vaginally.
377493 tn?1356502149 So I have now been on Prometrium (orally, 300mg a day) for about a week. I have looked it up on the web, and all the sites related to it say to take it before you are pregnant, but not to take while you are pregnant. I am completely confused. My OB prescribed it knowing absolutely I was pregnant, and has me on it up until the end of the first trimester. Also, it seems the symptoms mimic pregnancy symptoms. Has anybody had a negative outcome using this drug?
490183 tn?1361213953 From what I've read, most women will get their periods even though they're still taking prometrium, but it usually delays AF by a day or two...especially if your normal luteal phase (from O till AF) is on the short side. For women who get a beta HCG test done, I think the standard is to take progesterone until you get your test. If it's positive, continue until about 12th week or so; and if it's negative, stop taking it and wait for AF.
Avatar f tn I was told today that I am 4 weeks pregnant but my progesterone levels is at 3.8 and my HCG levels is at 8, both of which are low. Dr. said she would call me tomorrow tomorrow with todays bloodwork results. I am very worried as I just had a miscarriage in March 2009 with only one period in between then and it was June 9, 2009. Could low progesterone have been a factor in my first miscarriage? and what is the likely hood that I will be able to continue this pregnancy?
937427 tn?1247023856 I don't know about absence, but yes on irregular. Many women are irregular due to lack of ovulation or abnormal ovulation. Clomid is rx'd for this reason. It helps women that do not ovulate, do so. It also helps women that have weak o, o stronger. But, it doesn't work for all women. If after 3-6 cycles pregnancy has not occurred, it is not likely to. It is also not good for a woman to stay on it for prolonged periods of time.
Avatar f tn I had my hopes up that perhaps I was pregnant because I know some women who have not gotten a positive on a home pregnancy test until a week after the expected period. I think I had my hopes up too much when the period was late when in fact it may have been the progesterone that was delaying my period. Has anyone had experience on progesterone like this?
Avatar f tn As a preventative measure, my RE prescribed prometrium for me. I was a little squeamish about taking the suppositories so I received the tablet form. I need to take 2 tablets 3x a day. I'm looking at the bottle right now and I'm a feeling anxious about it. I'm worried about the possible side affects. I'm scared about fooling around with my hormone levels. Please, please tell me I'm being silly.
760797 tn?1303264540 My AF was never delayed with Prometrium. If you are not pregnant AF will come, if you are pregnant she won't. As mentioned above, progesterone is what sustains the pregnancy in the first trimester, if it is a "good" pregnancy, until the placenta takes over. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I know Prometrium is primarily prescribed to women having trouble convceiving or having repeated mc. I did have a mc before my daughter and it does take at least 8 months for us to get pg in the first place but I have NEVER heard of Prometrium being taken after the first trimester. In fact it is usually NOT recommended during pregnancy since it can lead to birth defect (at least that's what I have found out).
543791 tn?1216381777 m supposed to start taking it day 20 of my cycle and continue if I become pregnant for 9-12 weeks. If I do not become pregnant I would stop the prometrium until day 20 of the next cycle. It can act as a contraceptive if you take it every day. He did an ultrasound and found that I have a low egg count. I only have one ovary and tube so he said that could cause a little problem since my body doesn't produce the same amount of eggs as someone with 2 ovaries.
760797 tn?1303264540 Lots and lots of women on here take or have taken progesterone while TTC or pregnant, so no need to worry about that. As a matter of fact, it's often prescribed to help prevent a possible miscarriage. I know what you mean, though, about the warnings. I had to call the pharmacist the first time I picked up my prometrium and ask, since it says not to take while pregnant. But it's totally fine. As for the stroke/blood clot warning, I wouldn't really worry about that either.
Avatar f tn When I looked it up there was a lot of info for women in menapause. Very confusing. Does anyone know what it to help you with if you are expecting?
