Prometrium for low progesterone

Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium for low progesterone

prometrium

Avatar f tn Very much so low progesterone could have been a factor. Mine was at 8 for my last pregnancy. I was placed on Progesterone Supplements. Very easy to take care of this problem. You will have to be on suppositories (or that's how most docs do it) until the placenta completely takes over...around 12-15 weeks. Don't know the answer to the second question. Only thing I can tell you is to pray if you are religious.
1110747 tn?1295844043 I’m about 5 weeks pregnant and this is my first pregnancy and I just got a called from my OB/GYN saying that I need to retake my labs for my progesterone level. I was informed that it was low. She didn’t mention that anything else was low so I am assuming everything else is okay. However, I was wondering if I was on Clomid during TTC, it shouldn’t be a surprise that my progesterone levels are low. Right? I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this and what you have/had to do.
10582759 tn?1411223910 I have had two previous miscarriages due to low progesterone. I was prescribed prometrium and now im 12w2d. It was very effective for me.
688845 tn?1325182236 The prometrium is for low progesterone. It does not increase your HCG. As a rule, doctors like to see your Progesterone level above 20, mine was 13. If you were given prometrium I would suspect your progesterone is also low. As far as HCG goes, there is such a huge range that you can't diagnose a number as "low" until you have it retested in 2 days and see if the number doubled. I saw on a website (beta base.
Avatar f tn Am I just setting myself up for disaster again??? Is it so rare to JUST have low progesterone??? Has anyone just had low progesterone and taken pills and you were fine?? Please help - I'm really scared right now that I am setting myself up for a delayed miscarriage. Also, could anyone tell me what really could be causing the low progesterone? Thanks so much!!! Baby dust to all.
Avatar n tn I have symptoms, but the doctor has a presription for prometrium on hold for me awaiting these results. Any thoughts??
Avatar n tn My blood work shows positive result but the doctor said that my progesterone level is very low (6.5). I was advised to take prometrium. has anyone had a similar experience?? thanks!
Avatar f tn Prometrium is to help raise the progesterone to aid in implantation of the baby. It is taken the day after Ovulation and till the period occurs. Now as it raises the progesterone it can delay your period if you are not pregnant as during the luteal phase (after ovulation) your progesterone will decrease and estrogen levels will rise talling your body to shed the uterine lining causeing yoru period to occur. When you take suppliments the progesterone stays up and may not fall till stopped.
Avatar n tn Has anyone's doctor said they're progesterone level was low & was put on Prometrium????
Avatar f tn My HCG levels are good but progesterone levels are low. Like it was 6.9 on 10th day post ET and went down to 5.0 on 13th day. I am worried, but my HCG levels went up from 104 to 434 on the 13th day. Does anybody know why it is dropping? I am taking crinone 8% gel twice a day. Please let me know if anybody experienced the same kind of situation.
Avatar n tn I pretty much knew on my own I had low progesterone from my last miscarriage in July and because they wouldn't prescribe anything until more bloodwork the next time I was pregnant I took matters into my own hands a little and decided to use progesterone cream as I had read a lot about it and saw the positive effects... Most likely the reason I've held onto this one so far I'm only 4 weeks 2 days and progesterone level was 16.11 they want above 20 and hcg was 295...
Avatar n tn I can't answer most of your questions I can only say that I've read many stories of women who have taken progesterone and carried to term, having healthy babies. Progesterone will only help if low progesterone levels are what's causing the m/c's. If it's chromosomal abnormalities or other things, progesterone most like will NOT stop a m/c from happening.
Avatar f tn Hello-to anyone out there that can help calm my nerves. I am pregnant with my fourth child and suffer severe anxiety. Was told by my OB that I have "borderline" low progesterone and wants me to take 200 mg of prometrium by mouth at night. I am VERY sensitive to meds and pick out all side effects...
Avatar f tn Im 5 weeks and my progesterone levels are low. My dr. Prescribed progesterone but Im scared of a miscarriage. Anyone else take progesterone? ?
Avatar f tn Anyone have to take the progesterone lozenges for low progesterone??? I had a m/c in November. This time I found out I was pregnant early and Dr did a progesterone level and I was low. Have to take lozenges 100mg twice a day. Anyone else have this issue??
Avatar f tn Prometrium, a progesterone supplement, is sometimes prescribed during the first trimester of pregnancy in women who have had a history of miscarriages caused by low progesterone levels. The addition of prometruim during pregnancy helps ensure that the women will carry the fetus to full-term. It works by helping ensure that a placenta is fully formed thus providing the necessary lifeline for the developing fetus.
282955 tn?1394730951 I agree! Your numbers are very high, so no need for progesterone supplements. It's normal for the progesterone levels to start going back down as you approach AF (unless you're pregnant, of course). That's why they test at 7 dpo. Good luck to you, tea_berries!
Avatar m tn I had a M/c 2 years ago. Spotted at 6 wks blood test showed low progesterone took inserts but eventually heart stopped at 7wks. Pregnant and went in for early progesterone test at 5wks, no bleeding. progesterone level 6 now taking inserts. Has anyone gone on to have a healthy baby incase such as this?
1328947 tn?1295011446 Hi There, My doc put me on progesterone two weeks ago when I first found out I was pregnant. I found it reassuring that lots of women use progesterone through the first trimester to help support the pregnancy. If your miscarriages are in fact from low progesterone then the prometrium will help. My levels were 13.8 for progesterone. Not sure how much the prometrium helps. I'm actually on something called Crinone which is taken vaginally.
688845 tn?1325182236 Doctor just called with my results: 11 DPO HCG: 58 Progesterone: 13 Now she said not to be alarmed because the progesterone is so low as I am very early (AF isn't due until Sunday) but she is calling me in Prometrium to take twice a day. I am really nervous girls....
1564074 tn?1334490908 When my DR called with my results, he told me that they like for the progesterone to be over 20. Mine was 33.3. Hopefully this medicine works for you! i have faith that it will and you will be just fine, and have a happy beautiful baby!
182352 tn?1231183410 hi everyone. i am 5 wks pregnant & my OBGYN just prescribed prometrium for low progestrone, and metformin ( the generic form of glucophage), due to my body not processing sugar properly. the prometrium bottle says DO NOT TAKE WHILE PREGNANT. i have read up on this & it seems to be a very common & helpful drug to take during early pregnancy. has anyone taken both, or either 1 alone while pregnant? my 1st pregnancy was a breeze & i hate taking anything during pregnancy.
1370609 tn?1306380021 Yes. If your progesterone is low, Doctors will usually give you some type of progesterone to prevent misscarriage. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Hi, I had 2 previous miscarriages and all of my blood work came back fine so my dr prescribed progesterone for me, as the woman said above-for just in case situation, for the next time I got pregnant and I started taking the progesterone suppositories in the 1st trimester until my 12th week and I now have a 2 yr old son. My 2nd son, who is now 1, was conceived 3 mths after our first son. I also took progesterone with him but it was the progesterone cream.
