Prometrium for hot flashes

Common Questions and Answers about Prometrium for hot flashes

prometrium

Avatar n tn I have been on prometrium for 6 months and have found it has helped me sleep as well as with the hot flashes, I take 200mg before I go to bed. The doctor suggested I try cutting it back to 100mg but the insomnia came back so I am back on the higher dose. I now just get the odd night sweat and hardly any hot flashes during the day. It took about three weeks for it to work for me so it's probably worth sticking with.
Avatar n tn I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint. The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes. The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease. My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight. I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily. I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.
Avatar f tn Hi there welcome to the forum We are not Drs here , we are educated volunteers so we are not able to reccomed medicateions. I think it would be a good idea for you to seek a nurse practioner who specialies in menopause, they have the time to really talk and will guide you through possible meds. It can be difficult getting the right combo but dont stop until you do , its been 2 1/2 years thats too long to feel those flashes and have sweats so badly.
Avatar f tn I stopped the Prometrium for 10 days and MY BLEEDING STOPPED ENTIRELY so it has to be the Prometrium. I know I need progesterone as still have my uterus but am I the only one that is seeing this happen? I was told by Sott Pelle providers that a women minimally needs progesterone 14 days every third month. Can someone tell me their experience with this?
Avatar n tn I felt so incredibly good. My hot flashes were gone completely, and my moods swings were stable. Then after about one and a half months my hot flashes and mood swings came back with a vengeance.Because I couldn't get in to see the Dr. for another 2 months I started taking 1 and 1/2 mg of Estrace for another month. I still didn't notice a difference after another month of experiementing so I took another 1/2 of estrace.
Avatar f tn Meanwhile, while waiting for the test, I had a period in January and then nothing. In March I started having hot flashes - they came on suddenly and violently and I was probably having 50 or so a day. Doc ran thyroid levels and they were fine and then checked my female hormones. My fsh came back at 112. The estrogen level was ok but doc felt this number just took longer to fall. The third number was also way off. Doc said at this time that I was in menopause.
1434731 tn?1382722384 I have feel really good(other then having Bronchitis) I have notice a couple of time I felt hot for a few minutes. Is that what they call hot flashes? I assume they would last longer and get all sweaty.
Avatar n tn In the last few months I have been able to wear fleece pjs and socks to bed with no hot flashes. I was taking estrogel and prometrium but stopped at the same time the symptons started to abate. Am I done meneopause?
374457 tn?1229629656 Clomids side effects are hot flashes night sweats trouble sleeping and being very very irritable....like PMS all the time. The prometrium I have had no side effects and am still taking it during pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Pregnancy night sweats are similar to hot flashes, although they take place during the night as a woman sleeps as opposed to hot flashes that occur during the day. Night sweats during pregnancy, which is also known as "nocturnal hyperhydrosis" during pregnancy occur because the body´s temperature gauge begins to malfunction as a result of hormonal imbalance that occurs during pregnancy.

Avatar n tn no good for me, i ended up using the patch which has worked for the past 9 months, but now it seems to have stopped working, and i get hot days not flashes they last for days on end. I would try the patch first. good luck......
Avatar f tn My doc mentioned estrogen too, if my hot flashes were too much but I declined. The hot flashes actually went away for about 6 - 8 months and I thought maybe it was a change of climate and also I did some online reading and found that some women say some foods, like spicy foods might trigger hot flashes so I limited my diet. They're back now though and I'm not sure why except I am back to eating more variety in foods, even spicy foods.
Avatar n tn 1. Accupuncture 2. Relaxation therapy 3. Regular exercise 4. Reduction in weight/body mass index (If overweight, try to lose 10% of weight. This may also lower risk for BC recurrence in hormone receptor positive BC.) 5, Clonodine (also used for hypertension) 6. Gabapentin ( also used for seizure disorders) 7.
973741 tn?1342342773 Getting older is a pain! LOL I just am not a fa of the flavor of chamomile tea but maybe will look at some of the sleepy time tea. I didn't know if you already get hot if having a hot beverage before bed would affect that. I plant a fan directly on me even with the overhead ceiling fan blowing. It's rough to get hot flashes at night, disturbs the sleep!
443862 tn?1237999439 Hi Marshmellow, I started having hot flashes that would come before a panic attack. For the panic I started taking lexapro. Since I have been on lexapro I haven't had a panic attack. I told my O.B. about it and she said that they actually had looked at lexapro to help hot flashes. When I decided to go off lexapro I started having hot flashes. So for me, somehow they are connected. Good luck! You are definitely not alone.
Avatar f tn I have also noticed that my regular pre-menopausal hot flashes have gone away. For most of my adult life I have ALWAYS been extremely hot making my life miserable when most other people are cold, but now I am not experiencing this either. My back ache seems to be just that; a very dull back ache that never subsides. Any idea what this could be especially with these other strange symptoms I am experiencing? I have never had any digestive issues in the past.
378102 tn?1215571666 Finally my hot flashes are almost gone... maybe one a day now down from 1000 a day last September.... I was also told no soy products as I have thyroid problems on top of everything else.. the flashes do stop... now I am having visiting vegas flashes expecting 118 today... yeah.....

I literally break out in sweats every hour on the hour and this happens all night while I am sleeping. Does anyone else have bad hot flashes from Clomid? Does it go away?
1026267 tn?1257591273 I had my thyroid removed 2 yrs ago and am taking 137 mcg Synthroid Mon-Thur and half dose Fri-Sun. In the last month I have been dealing with almost constant hot flashes. Could there be a connection to the non thyroid condition or might something else be happening? I am 68 and way past the hot flash stage.
Avatar f tn Hot flashes were always the first sign for me! Days before the hpt would show a bfp. I hope it's a good sign for you too! Good luck.
612876 tn?1355514495 m not going through menopause, yet I have hot flashes randomly. Anyone else have this problem? Is it related to the blood pressure? I'm almost positive it started before they started me on any of the meds, so I don't think it's a side effect . . . but then again, my memory isn't always golden. Ha!
518001 tn?1212419235 I put my feet on an ice pack, it cools down my whole body much better that icing any part of the head or neck.
