I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint. The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes. The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease. My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight. I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily. I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.
I am currently on 2 mg Estrace. I am having terrible hot flashes to the point that I wake up in a puddle of sweat, then I get freezing cold. I have been researching varrious HRT' on micromedex. I think I need an added progesterone, but I have been told PREMPRO has some hard side affects. Do any of you have suggestions? I noticed someone was on Climera and another was on the Vivelle w/ Prometrium. What dose of prometrium do you take?
I am wondering why I am loosing so much hair after my complete (my ovaries are out too)hysterectomy? I was on 1 mg of Estrace which was very helpful the first month or two.I felt so incredibly good. My hot flashes were gone completely, and my moods swings were stable.Then after about one and a half months my hot flashes and mood swings came back with a vengeance.Because I couldn't get in to see the Dr. for another 2 months I started taking 1 and 1/2 mg of Estrace for another month.
Meanwhile, while waiting for the test, I had a period in January and then nothing. In March I started having hot flashes - they came on suddenly and violently and I was probably having 50 or so a day. Doc ran thyroid levels and they were fine and then checked my female hormones. My fsh came back at 112. The estrogen level was ok but doc felt this number just took longer to fall. The third number was also way off. Doc said at this time that I was in menopause.
In the last few months I have been able to wear fleece pjs and socks to bed with no hot flashes. I was taking estrogel and prometrium but stopped at the same time the symptons started to abate. Am I done meneopause?

She had to have a totally historictimy(sp) at 24-26 because she had cancer, and that through her in to early menopause and so she dealt with the hot flashes for years (she is 51 now) and she finally went to the doctor and it was her body being so out of wack so the doctor put her on some hormones to help balance her out. You might also go to your local herbs store to see if they have anything that might help you out natural but always consult with your doctor.
I had a pacemaker put in about 2 months ago after ungoing 2 ablation procedures for WPW. I have been experience hot flashes during the night and also a few during the day ever since. I am wondering if this could possibly be a side effect of the pacemaker or would it be happening anyway due to my age (52) and menopause.
Dull headachestominor migraines (SEVeRe beforesurgery), nausea, fatigue, muscle,joint, bone aches, swollen hands and feet, weak handds and arms, loss of concentration and memory, sometimes feel? overwhelmed?.....and ecently these wake up hot flashes and skittishness?.....I jump easily?...spook?....scare?.....at the most inane things....ridiculous. SOME thing is going on....not as severe as before surgery, but now newthings presenting. *SIGH!*.....started when I was 40 years old...
The night sweats stopped almost immediately, and the hot flashes became fewer and less severe. Sometimes I feel a little flushed, like one is coming on, but then it just seems to fizzle. The pain in my legs and breasts has also subsided, and I’m feeling great. The best part is that I’m actually able to get a good night’s sleep again!
You asked about hot flashes and B6 toxicity. All I can tell you is I started having hot flashes and B6 symptoms the very same month I went into menopause. It was like my body chemistry changed and I could no longer metabolize the B6. My hot flashes have subsided now with the help of taking herbs prescribed by a dr of oriental medicine and accupuncture. Like you I tried conventional methods to reduce my hot flashed but nothing helped until I found a licensed dr of oriental medicine.
