The problem is he only prescribed 10 days of prometrium so even if I wanted to I cannot continue taking it. This is very frustrating as I have mentioned my concerns many times to him. Also I am in Ottawa, Canada, and there is only one fertility clinic which it took about a year for me to get into, so I unfortunately don't have alot of options.
I have had 3 miscarriages. I under went every possible fertility test possible. They found absolutely nothing wrong with me nor my husband. I am now pregnant again. My progesterone dropped during my 4th week of pregnancy and the doctor prescribed prometrium. I am currently experiencing brief but horrible cramping accompanied with some minor bleeding. I've read the prescription information pamphlet over and over, and that is apparently a side effect. But with my history...
Rare cases of congenital anomalities including cleft palate, cleft lip, ventricular septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus, and congenital heart defects have been reported in the infants of woman using Prometrium for unapproved indications including the preventions of such outcomes. Studies in humans cannot rule out the possibility of harm. Therefore, Prometrium capsules should be used during pregnancy only if indicated.
I saw some mucus tissue pass. The doctor has done several lab tests. all which are normal. He suggests clomid and prometrium pills. I am apprehensive about progesterone pills and birth defects. These pregnancys are by the same father. Do you have any suggestions? Does this form of treatment sound like the next step? My doctor is a obgyn.
When i went to the doctors for fertility issues he told me not to bother with predictors as they are a waste of money and pointless..
I have been told 'not to think about getting pregnant' to chill out and not get stressed (its easier said then done) Also if you can get away for a few days to relax that may work.. try taking his and hers pregnacare conception - or normal vitamins... or just folic acid on its own.. its worth a try.. but the most important is to stay relaxed!
The pattern was the same in all three case, lower progesterone levels. After the first miscarriage , I was asked to take baby aspirin and prometrium with the subsequent pregnancy. I anyway miscarried. I was referred to a reproductive endocrinologist. He checked for genetic disorders in both me and my husband. He did the clomid challenge test , checked for abnormalities in the uterine wall , checked thyroid level , blood sugar. Everything came back normal.
What my OB/GYN as well as my fertility specialist have prescribed me is a pill called Prometrium. I take that for 5-7 days out of the month and usually within two weeks of starting the first pill I have a period.
remember, god or nature which ever you prefer, has its own system for these things and with all these fertility drugs, it is very possible that you could have a very unhealthy baby or if you were meant to have a healthy one this time, you could have A LOT of babies.
i would do it as natural as possible.
Thanks for your kind reply. My RE only put me on these medicine. i am taking prometrium for 1 to 12 days and estradiol for daily routine.she checked my blood for whether i am ovulating or not. It was below 1. so i was not ovulating. but is there any chance to produce new egg, even if we dont have follicle?
Because I had a miscarriage last year. They put me on prometrium. As soon as I found out I was pregnant. I went to get my HCG and progesteron checked. it was HCG 130 and progesterone 45.8 which is good. But they put me on it just in case. I started seeing a new doctor now and she she is sending me to a specialist for the medicine to see if I really need to keep taking the medication, because it could be harmful to a developing fetus. My appointment is Friday.
Even if you are having regular cycles there is no garentee that you are ovulating - taking clomid is one of the more common drugs for fertility treatment in those with PCOS, also metfomrin is advised against if you are TTC (no idea why but apparently its not good for a developing fetus or something).
Im on Clomid 100mg and as of the 18th of this month i have started taking Prometrium 200mg....my fertility doctor has told me to take these and to also take a preggo test next week if it says not preggo for me to continue taking the Prometrium untel I start my cycle. With all 3 m/c i never carried past 6 weeks....I can tell you that here in North Carolina that the Prometrium 200 mg's 16 pills cost $ 75.00....Also to Lilyb is this doctor you are talking to is it a obgyn ???
As a preventative measure, my RE prescribed prometrium for me. I was a little squeamish about taking the suppositories so I received the tablet form. I need to take 2 tablets 3x a day.
I'm looking at the bottle right now and I'm a feeling anxious about it. I'm worried about the possible side affects. I'm scared about fooling around with my hormone levels. Please, please tell me I'm being silly.
I have my blood test on Monday. I am still taking Prometrium suppositories. Do you know if Prometrium will delay a period? I was gonna call my dr today but I feel like a nag!
