I had 2 miscarriages in the past and with this one i went on prometrium and baby aspirin although nothing was ever diagnosed either. i did not experience any bleeding as a side effect of the prometrium though. have you had a scan yet?
I'm on prometrium also. I started the evening of my 2nd IUI and am suppose to stay on it until negative Beta or until 11 th week of pregnancy if positive. The Dr at the fertility clinic prescribed this for me so I'm assuming it's ok if I am indeed pregnant. I have unexplained fertility and have never had a miscarriage but this seems to be part of the IUI protocol.

Studies in humans cannot rule out the possibility of harm. Therefore, Prometrium capsules should be used during pregnancy only if indicated.
I saw some mucus tissue pass. The doctor has done several lab tests. all which are normal. He suggests clomid and prometrium pills. I am apprehensive about progesterone pills and birth defects. These pregnancys are by the same father. Do you have any suggestions? Does this form of treatment sound like the next step? My doctor is a obgyn.

I anyway miscarried. I was referred to a reproductive endocrinologist. He checked for genetic disorders in both me and my husband. He did the clomid challenge test , checked for abnormalities in the uterine wall , checked thyroid level , blood sugar. Everything came back normal.
What my OB/GYN as well as my fertility specialist have prescribed me is a pill called Prometrium. I take that for 5-7 days out of the month and usually within two weeks of starting the first pill I have a period.

I took it through the first trimester and my baby was/is fine (11 months old now). I also took 200mg prometrium and probably 3g of folic acid. What I read was that synthetic progesterone is what is not safe during pregnancy but prometrium is the natural form and it is safe for pregnant women.
A number of 80 seems very high for your age...I wonder if there could be another reason for the high number. I'm not really familiar with what is normal when going through premature ovarian failure; but in general, normal levels are between 3 and 20, with 20 being very hard to stimulate. If I were you, I would ask your doctor for a referral to an RE (reproductive endocrinologist...or fertility specialist).
I always get itchy and yeasty towards the end of a fertility treatment cycle because I use the progesterone vaginal suppositories (prometrium). When it's gotten really bad, I asked my OBGYN and they said it was OK to use the external cream that usually comes with the monistat suppositories. I do NOT use the monistat suppository, just the cream that comes with it and only externally. It seems to help.
Yes... your doctor is correct. Prometrium COULD cause birth defects. I was told to take it from weeks 10 through 13. I miscarried at 15 weeks and 6w4d (I have no living children) so my fertility specialist & OBGyn. thought that as a precaution I should be on it to help my body transfer from producing it naturally to having the placenta take over. (They thought that is what may have caused my 1st miscarriage).
Im on Clomid 100mg and as of the 18th of this month i have started taking Prometrium 200mg....my fertility doctor has told me to take these and to also take a preggo test next week if it says not preggo for me to continue taking the Prometrium untel I start my cycle. With all 3 m/c i never carried past 6 weeks....I can tell you that here in North Carolina that the Prometrium 200 mg's 16 pills cost $ 75.00....Also to Lilyb is this doctor you are talking to is it a obgyn ???
Your problems are nearly identical to mine, and I do have a 2 year old son. I got pregnant by luck, according to my dr. We didn't realize I had signs of PCOS and annovulation, until I've been trying to get pregnant the second time. I too had ovarian cysts at 17 and was on the pill until I was 24, and got pregnant pretty quickly after we started trying. This time I've been off the pill since Feb, and it's been frustrating.
Well, I have pcos too and my doctor put me on metformin 500mg three times a day and prometrium 200mg twice a day for 10 days each month. The metformin is good for me insulin levels and working with the prometrium my periods have come back after years of not having one. If your periods aren't coming and you're not ovulating it's so hard to have a baby. Ask your doc about putting you on metformin and prometrium or clomid. :) Good luck!
As a preventative measure, my RE prescribed prometrium for me. I was a little squeamish about taking the suppositories so I received the tablet form. I need to take 2 tablets 3x a day.
I'm looking at the bottle right now and I'm a feeling anxious about it. I'm worried about the possible side affects. I'm scared about fooling around with my hormone levels. Please, please tell me I'm being silly.
re giving you clomid to stimulate ovulation, estradiol (estrogen) to help with the lining and cm before ovulation and prometrium (progesterone) after ovulation to help sustain a possible pregnancy. The injectable hormone could be a trigger, which they could use to trigger ovulation if your follicles are the "right" size when you come in for your u/s on the 11th.

I had laproscopic surgery to get rid of it and was then on prometrium to raise my progesterone level and clomid to aid in ovulation and conception. Clomid is pms x1000. It makes you feel very crabby, headaches and your breast hurt. My husband said, how are we going to have sex when you are acting like a *****!
It took 3 months to conceive once I had surg. and was on meds.
