880900 tn?1467270141 Conjugated estrogen is an estrogen replacement hormone used for the management of menopausal symptoms such as abnormal uterine bleeding (spotting), hot flashes, sweating, and chills. It is also used by women to prevent and treat osteoporosis, in cases where non-estrogen medications have already been considered. It is used to replace estrogen hormones in situations where the body can no longer produce estrogen.
10905170 tn?1414131788 I assume you mean the hormonal changes but without the bleeding. This is normal if you still have your ovaries and they are still functioning (about 40% of the time they shut down after hysterectomy). Women who have endometriosis and have their ovaries removed at the time of hysterectomy sometimes report the symptoms you are experiencing. The likely reason in this scenario is that any remaining endo implants produce estrogen which is why they say that hysterectomy is not a cure for endo.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed for missed abortion last May 17,2008 (as seen in the Ultrasound, the baby has no heart beat) i was administered a premarin 0.62 mg every 6 hours, the doctor said to soften the cervix as well as cytotec 200 mg every 8 hours. I was wondering why i should be given premarin? I have read that premarin is mainly estrogen.. Do i need to continuously use this product? They are waiting for me to bleed for them to be able to perform the D&C. Please advise asap...
1194973 tn?1385503904 Has anyone ever heard of this drug called Premarin? I was given it after the surgery yesterday and according to the leaflet it's just a female hormone. I assume Estrogen? I asked a few doctors and got different answers from each one.
Avatar f tn also recommended hormonal tablet and cream which is Premarin 0.625 and premarin cream for 6 months. Now I want to know whetherr there are any side effects to it and if any, what are they and what can i do? Please let me know, as I am a bit tensed.
Avatar n tn Hi, my name is Chanel and i've been on my period for about 3 weeks now and i just left the doctor's office. She prescribed premarin to help stop the bleeding but i'm very skeptical about taking it. I looked it up online and the side-effects are very frightening. The last time this happened, I was prescribed vitamin K to stop the bleeding. Can someone please clarify exactly what premarin is and how it is going to stop this bleeding?
2176548 tn?1340677817 Anyone who has been on Lupron, Premarin and Medroxy ever experience sore breasts and increase in breast size? My boobs have gotten bigger and are like constantly sore!!! Hurts to take off my bra!! Please help!!!
Avatar f tn The Pedi perscribed her a cream called premarin for me to apply to the affected area 2x a day until I saw that it was getting better then to continue it until it had corrected itself. Well, I stopped putting the cream on my daughter about month into using it because I had noticed that she was starting to get a lot of peach fuzz in the area. I stopped using the cream but the hair is still there and now sone are turning brown!
1112541 tn?1286311213 70s they found that women who were taking Premarin were having a huge increase in endometrial and uterine cancer, which is why they introduced Prempro, a combination of estrogens plus progestins that would help prevent this from happening. And this can happen regardless of whether we are taking "natural" or "synthetic" estrogens. They both cause similar effects on our bodies.
Avatar f tn Then they noticed that cases of endometrial cancer among Premarin users were going through the roof - the Premarin was causing endometrial hyperplasia, which was placing these women at high risk of endometrial cancer. It was then that they developed Prempro, which adds progestins to the mix, and supposedly reduces these risks.
Avatar f tn I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy soon. The doctor wants to take my ovaries. My mom and both of her sisters have had hysterectomy's. My mother and 1 aunt had early onset of Alzheimers. both took premarin. I have read and studied that HRT's like premarin have a high risk of dementia and heart disease? since my dad had heart disease and most of his siblings and family have had heart problems I am worried. I have Endometrosis and also prolapsed Uteris.
Avatar m tn Women who have a uterus who take HRT must take progestin or progesterone if they take estrogen in order to protect their uterine lining from the proliferative effects of estrogen. Estrogen is not associated with an increased risk of any type of cancer (except endometrial/uterine). Studies that compared estrogen-only HRT with combine HRT showed an increased risk of breast cancer for combined but NOT for estrogen-only.
Avatar f tn I've been bleeding for two months now. This has been a strange type of bleeding aside from the long time period. I started "bleeding" brownish reddish residue. That later turned into black. Then back to brown. Vice Versa. And For the past week have been bleeding red with dark blackish reddish clumps. I have not stopped bleeding for more than 3 hours straight. What is wrong with my body? I have been on depo provera for a long time. Would this have anything to do with my issue?
778044 tn?1299542934 What are these medications used for? And have they worked for anyone? I recently used Premarin to "jumpstart my AF" I just don't know if I'm ovulating. Does the Provera get you ready for the clomid, and the clomid help you ovulate? Is this a pill or an injection??? I just need to make sure I'm ovulating so I can get pregnant!
Avatar f tn Do I need to continue taking Premarin .0625 or can I discontinue since I am past meopause age.
778044 tn?1299542934 Has anyone used Premarin to help jump start their period? And if so, how long did it take? I am on it for 25 days (Premarin) and then starting the aygestin after the 16th day.
Avatar f tn C, however, you are saying you wonder if what you are experiencing now is a uterine perf? I have to imagine there would be a significant amount of bleeding, and your blood work should have shown anemia. Do you have endometriosis? I hope you find something out soon!! Best wishes.
Avatar f tn I had a uterine biospy Friday morning for a thickened endometrium. I also had a vaginal ultrasound. The Doctor did a uterine biopsy in her office. She actually took 3 biopsies. I had this biopsy about 3 years ago for heavy bleeding and it was normal. It hurt then and I spotted some but nothing like this time with the 3 biopsy. It was extremely painful. My question is that I am still bleeding and it has increased in the amount to that of a light period.
Avatar m tn I took the 1/2 pill with great caution as my mom took premarin for many years and ended up with breast cancer which eventually took her life 5 years ago). I have been tortured since stopping my premarin regime. I don't think I have had a full nights sleep since - in fact last evening the first wake up was at 3:38 and then I had 5 more flashes before I finally got out of bed and started my day with more flashes. My gen practioner has suggested prozac ... sorry but that seems a bit severe.
Avatar f tn Hello, First of all it can be due to metrorrhagia which causes uterine bleeding at irregular intervals, particularly between the expected menstrual periods. Metrorrhagia can occur due to dysfunction uterine bleeding, hormonal imbalance, polyps, fibroids, endometriosis, infections of the cervix, vagina or endometrium, pelvic inflammatory disease, ovarian insufficiency, ovarian cysts or benign lesions of the female reproductive system.
Avatar f tn This year I have ultrasound and result shows scarring in the lining of uterine, I never had surgery and not symptoms or bleeding. what can cause this? How can be treated naturally?
Avatar f tn Well I have finally been diagnosed with uterine fibroids. Have been with df for 5 years and no babies yet. Just wanted to say hey. I have been on my second shot of Lupron with no success of stopping the excessive bleeding. I was even placed in the ICU for severe anemia because of the bleeding. OB doesn't want to do any surgery because my iron level was at a 3 when i walked into the E.R. everyone was amazed that i was able to walk and talk.
Avatar f tn I suffer from Hashimotos autoimmune disease for many years and was diagnosed last year with Lupus after suffering many years with leukopenia which was caused by the Lupus or the Premarin. I took myself off of Premarin in July 2016 and I feel so much better. My hair is now growing back after losing about 3/4 of it during a Lupus flare-up that lasted over 7 months. My muscle aches are gone and my blood counts are now registering normal.
