This sometimes causes blood clots. Urine is collected while the mare is pregnant, she has the foal, the foal is sent to slaughter. I am glad the foal was born healthy, despite its small size, and that the vet will be coming out. During pregnancy, the mare is "eating for 2" and despite her large size, it is possible that she did not get enough to produce a foal of normal size or keep her own. In addition to that, once the foal is born and begins lactating, the foal really "drains" the mother of a lot of nutrition that needs to be taken into consideraton for the lactation.
The in-utero foal takes a ton out of the mare. You may be surprised that the foal will come out looking fine, while the mare is emaciated. The other thing to consider is that if the mare does not have adequate nutrition, she will run the risk of not producing milk, then the foal will not be able to nurse and get adequate nutrition.
I am 7 months pregnant and work with horses. We recently lost a foal and are still waiting on test results but believe the foal died of Tyzzer's disease (Clostridium piliforme, or Bacillus piliformis). After doing some research I have found that this could be spread to pregnant women. I cannot find what the effects are to pregnant women or any information other than to take precautions not to be exposed and that there have been elevated antibodies found among pregnant women.

I was diagnosed for missed abortion last May 17,2008 (as seen in the Ultrasound,the baby has no heart beat) i was administered a premarin 0.62 mg every 6 hours, the doctor said to soften the cervix as well as cytotec 200 mg every 8 hours. I was wondering why i should be given premarin? I have read that premarin is mainly estrogen.. Do i need to continuously use this product? They are waiting for me to bleed for them to be able to perform the D&C. Please advise asap...

I took the 1/2 pill with great caution as my mom took premarin for many years and ended up with breast cancer which eventually took her life 5 years ago). I have been tortured since stopping my premarin regime. I don't think I have had a full nights sleep since - in fact last evening the first wake up was at 3:38 and then I had 5 more flashes before I finally got out of bed and started my day with more flashes. My gen practioner has suggested prozac ... sorry but that seems a bit severe.

I had a total hysterectomy 20 years ago. I was prescribed Premarin daily which I took for the next 15 year until the scare of it being direclty involved in the cause of some breast cancers. I stopped immediately. I have fought the battle of hot flashes for the past 6 years and they are starting to taper off. I am now 61 years old. But I have have an increasing problem with hair loss.
Did the blood test route, etc., took whopping doses of Viatmin D and got put on Premarin, the lowest dose. I did not do well on that. I became actually worse, emotionally and it didn't help the sweats, irritability or anything. My doctor told me to try Estroven, and it's better, but I still feel like crap. I don't sleep well at all, I am irritable and snappish and that is NOT my personality. A friend told me she was in a similar state and took bio-identicals.
Hello: hoping somebody can help me. I have been on Premarin.625mg for 7 months and did very well. Before that, I had tried everything else with very little improvement. Before Premarin I was having hot flashes, anxiety, and terrible insomnia. After the first few days of taking Premarin, I began to notice great improvement. My hot flashes went away and insomnia disappeared. I had a few bumps along the way but then everything balanced out. Now, the old symptoms have returned with a vengeance.
Help... I had a hysterectomy when I was 38 and was put on premarin... I am now 48 and the Dr. took me off and put me on estrdiol... Its been a month and i feel like crap... I don't know if I should just try nothing for now.. I had a full hysterectomy.. I was good while I was on premarin.. Somebody please help...
