Common Questions and Answers about Prednisone and fatigue

Avatar n tn I have since refused both prednisone and inhaled steroids and am much better for it. I use natural anti-inflammatories. However I do not have IPF, but COPD. I don't know if that makes a difference. P.S. My pulmonary MD has a hard time accepting that I reacted in this way. Also the treatment caused me to suffer adrenal fatigue.
507935 tn?1217359454 With the AIH, I get tired very easily and often. I can sleep anywhere from 4 to 12 hours a night and still feel the same level of fatigue. Can someone tell me if it'll ever go away or will I be tired for the rest of my life? I know this isn't normal since before I got sick I was hardly ever tired. I'm also a former runner and I tried going out for a run a couple times and got so exhausted so easily (it wasn't the same feeling as just being out of shape).
Avatar f tn I am studying abroad currently and I have been missing various activities and travel opportunities due to my constant fatigue, swollen glands, eyes, face, and ear ache- I have been dealing with this for so long, I hope this helps but I don't think the side effects are worth it if they occur.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Thanks very much for your help! I have these liver tests and am really worried my liver is damaged? AST 49(10-40) ALT 91 (10-45) could I have hepatitis? I don't drink and was on prednisone for 3 weeks at 30mg/day for week 1.
Avatar m tn like for five days and see how that helps with severe fatigue and some weaknesses (upper torso more than lower). i'm wanting to try anything that might help with this but gotta check it here. i'm just checking in and putting it out there to see how other MS'ers who've tried these did with them.
Avatar f tn As an extra bonus the nerve to my vocal cord was unhappy with all the work that had been done and my right vocal cord is not moving. The ENT put my on Prednisone for a few weeks which made my blood sugar and blood pressure go nuts. I finished the Prednisone a few days ago and now I am struggling with weakness, headache, stomach issues and faint feeling almost constantly.
1297586 tn?1274105947 The only advice I can give is not to take prednisone. It gave me adrenal fatigue which has taken a year to cure (actually I am not totally cured yet). And - the adrenals interact with the thyroid. You have no idea how awful adrenal fatigue is. At times I could not walk across the room. And I had terrible panic attacks. This reaction to prednisone (or inhaled steroids) is not unusual. Merely devastating.
Avatar m tn This condition is treatable and you do not need drugs like cortisone or prednisone to further weaken the adrenals!! Nutritional medicine best addresses this condition. pm me if you need any details or just for support. Wishing you well.
Avatar f tn Its the worst its ever been and I am miserable. I was on Azathioprine, Canasa, and a taper of Prednisone with no relief. Just started Humira yesterday. Four shots to the stomach....ouch! Today along with my flare symptoms (lots of bleeding, constipation, bloating, abdominal pain, fatigue, dry mouth, occasional nausea) I have the chills with a very low grade fever and my fatigue is worse than normal. Is this normal after starting Humira? What do others do to manage all of these symptoms?
Avatar m tn Thank you for the reply. I would have never thought prednisone withdrawal would be so difficult. I am hangin' in there and staying positive. Thank you very much Foggy2. It seems the fatigue is the hardest to deal with. I have never experienced fatigue in such an extreme fashion. I am concerned with the last month which will be 1mg every other day. So far it seems I am just one of those people that do better dropping .5mg at a time. Now that I think back I should have been dropping.
219241 tn?1413537765 Upon terminating the Prednisone, the, initially, thigh muscle pains, developed into knee and foot pain and spreading to all muscles in the body.what I qualify as a full blown arthritis with the problem that nobody seems to recognize it a such, let alone what to do about it.To my layman's opinion the long term Predisone deregulated the complex interaction of hormones of hypophese, hypocamp.pituary gland, thyroid on the surrenales of the kidneys which had been inactivated for 2,5 years.
Avatar m tn Not only will you gain weight, you will destroy your immune system and weaken your bones. And in my case it caused adrenal fatigue with consequent anxiety and panic attacks. The is not an uncommon side effect and a case of the cure being worse than the illness. I switched over to natural anti-inflammatories and mucolytics and am happier and healthier for it and there are no side effects. How bad is your COPD? What stage are you in?
Avatar f tn This can result in extreme fatigue, anxiety and panic attacks. A very dasty med.
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed with prednisone for Lupus and synthroid for hypothyroidism. But I still deal with uncommon fatigue every day and sleep over 10 hours every night. any thoughts??
Avatar m tn ON JUNE 25,2012 I STARTED C/O OF JOINT PAIN, FEVER,HAIR LOSS AND FATIGUE. I AM FLARING AND BACK ON PREDNISONE. I AM 67Y/O AND HAVE RA AS WELL. I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH LUPUS 4 YEARS AGO.
Avatar f tn I saw my endro today. I have hashimoto's disease and have had a thyroidectomy October 2011. Every month one level or another has been off. I've been mostly hyperthyroid since march. Today I asked about adrenal fatigue. She got mad and said it didn't exist. Has anyone been tested for it ? I fired her and see a new endro in Feb. Could I run into the same attitude ? And are there other endro problems that might be causing my levels to be off ?
Avatar f tn hi there i have u/c and im in the same boat as you just feel like **** all the time basicly?? if you will excuse the expression? i loose lots of blood all the time which leaves me totally drained all the time!! also ache all over .im currently on 6 steriods a day and 6 pentasa a day ?
Avatar f tn I just got home from the hospital, as I finally took the advice of being put on solumedrol during a flare (always been scared!) Well, it didn't turn out as bad as I thought - got palpitations immediately, and on my 2nd day, I kept breaking out in a sweat, and my blood sugar got up to almost 200. No biggy. I'm now starting to feel better, into my 4th day and I've started to taper.
922048 tn?1387942584 At age 28, after suffering for many years, I was diagnosed with lupus and fibromyalgia and put on low dose prednisone and anti-inflammatories. I only stayed on pred for a few months (5-10mg). Then at age 41, was diagnosed with Hashimoto's. Doctor said my thyroid function was fine, though. (But of course it was very much NOT fine. I was having tons of hypo symptoms!) Now after spending a fair amount of time reading up on AF, I am certain that I have pretty severe AF.
Avatar n tn I was placed on 50mg of Imuran, which was adjusted to 100mg and my Prednisone was gradually reduced 10mg. In September 2010 my Prednisone was being reduced by 2.5 every 6 weeks. When I got down to 5mg, I noticed achiness about 4 days after reducing the dosage. I then was lowered to 2.5mg, this time all my joints began to hurt, muscles felt a little weak and some fatigue returned. I will consult with my hepatologist this week.
Avatar f tn Complaints of fatigue and joint pains are, unfortunately, very common. fibromyalgia, a condition characterized by muscular aches and pains, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping. It is much more common in women, and it can be debilitating. Many conventional medical doctors do not think that fibromyalgia exists. In fact, many patients who believe they have this condition are often derided by their doctors.
3191086 tn?1344947114 I am in some sort of flare..started w/ headaches, extreme fatigue, and got worse..and then all over body aches and pain. I couldn't dress myself, my hub had to help. I hurt from head to toe! Ok well had labs done by my regular dr. so he could send to my specialist. Got results this mornin , labs look good. These were rhemitoid (sp) labs. Ok so its good that labs are good..but frustrating when I am still suffering w/ pain and fatigue and don't know why.
1580703 tn?1651904887 I have these liver tests and am really worried my liver is damaged? AST 49(10-40) ALT 91 (10-45) could I have hepatitis? I don't drink and was on prednisone for 3 weeks at 30mg/day for week 1. I don't use drugs and never had a transfusion.
Avatar n tn It was prednisone and inhaled steroids (for emphysema) that gave me adrenal fatigue. Adrenal fatigue with high cortisol in the early stages causes anxiety and panic attacks. Since high cortisol depletes vitamin B5, high dosages of that vitamin help enormously. I take that and ashwagandha (Indian ginseng) which normalizes cortisol.
