Avatar f tn I was recently diagnosed with sarcoidosis. I have a small pericardial effusion that was larger but decreased in size after prednisone. I've noticed difficulty running just 2 miles even though I've been doing this for a decade. The entire run is so hard. Used to be able to easily run 4-5 miles. I aced a stress test-high level and mets but felt awful the whole time. They want to do right heart Cath to look for pulmonary hypertension. Can you ace a stress test and still have PH.
Avatar f tn He is currently on prednisone and theophylline. For the past couple of weeks, his belly has been very distended and hard to the touch. This is making his breathing more difficult. He is slightly overweight, so I have cut down his food intake. He drinks about the same amount of water that he always did, even thought the prednisone is supposed to increase his thirst. He is releiving himself regularly. His last checkup last month the vet told me that he had a good heart.
Avatar f tn I'm taking Prednisone for buzzing in the head/ear and it stops it. I was prescribed 1 20 mg tblet per day for 5 days. The awful buzzing stopped for 3 weeks after I used it for 5 days. Then it started again. So I went to ER and they said I had so much wax in my right ear that it was impacted and covering my ear drum so they cleaned it out. I had no buzzing for two days; also they prescribed the Prednisone again for 5 days. I took ONE AND REALIZED IT WORK IMMEDIATELY. The awful noise stopped.

1807991 tn?1438779770 I am SVR after triple therapy for 5 years now. I recently took prednisone for a severe rash from taking acedametaphine. After 3 days of prednisone every horrible side effect I had from triple therapy came back! I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen, I quit my prednisone drug regiment 4 days early because of the side effects. At this point I pretty much will not take a prescription med again unless I'm in a coma.

Avatar m tn I am a 24 year old male. I was prescribed antibiotics and Prednisone pills and was given a Prednisone shot at an urgent care center for a bad allergic reaction/rash on my ankles that were caused by insect bites while I was in Costa Rica. Right as I was going off the prescriptions, I noticed a sudden decrease in the intensity of my orgasms. One day, things were normal, and then the next I noticed it immediately. Avatar f tn New here... was told I have chiari in june of this year with a 15 mm herniation. Everything started in january of this year. I suffered a miscarriage in nov and in jan things got bad for me. My head started hurting so badly - feeling like a lot of pressure in my forehead. It'd be worse upon getting up in the morning typically. I was convinced I had a sinus infection. I saw my pcp who put me on antibiotics & prednisone. I felt awesome once the prednisone got in my system.
Avatar n tn I forgot to mention, my father was in the ED with bronchitis in 10/07, but had no antibiotics, just a course of prednisone & inhalers. No other known respiratory infections. The pulmonologist, oncologist & thoracic surgeon all think it's odd how round & smooth the mass appears on xrays. This mass was NOT there on a 12/8/07 CXR. (Our area is fortunate to have lung clinic to navigate regional chest mass patients through diagnostic testing & consults).
Avatar f tn My son is currently 20 months of age. At birth he had pulmonary hypertension unknown etiology and was placed on ECMO for 3 days. We nearly lost him. Long story short, his lungs have been perfectly healthy up until about 2 months ago. He had an acute onset of wheezing, retractions, dry hacking cough. X-ray showed a slight inflitrate. He was treated with antibiotics and was started on pulmacort and xoponex. 3 wks later, he had another episode.
Avatar f tn I am a 31 year old female and I have a regular eye exam by an ophthalmologist every year due to being diagnosed with intracranial hypertension 5 years ago. My exams have always been normal (except for history of ambliopia, astigmatism, and farsightedness). This time I had a small cataract starting to form in my right eye and "spots" on my retina in my left eye. Also my pressure in my Left eye was 16 and 10 in the right eye.

Avatar f tn My appendix was removed at that time and I had a carcinoid tumor on the appendix. I was placed on multiple meds including 60 mg. prednisone daily for a year or longer. I decided to stop taking prednisone one day, and within a day or so I was very ill (thought I was dying). Now I know better, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Avatar f tn Your symptoms can be from many things...Have you been placed on prednisone? Have your kidney functions checked (looking for gout); Look to see what your white blood count is -particulary the neutrophils...(looking for autoimmune, leukemia, other infection...) Get checked for tuberculosis, hypercalcemia, and hyper/hyponatremia (too much or too little sodium)...I'll chew on this some more and get back to you...
Avatar n tn In persons who present with symptoms such as early and progressive loss of vision, a short treatment course with high-dose corticosteroids (prednisone) is recommended. Tapering down from the initial corticosteroid dose is customized and based on the improvement of symptoms. If new visual loss is noted despite treatment, emergency surgical intervention may be indicated. A lumboperitoneal shunt is the method of choice utilized for prompt reduction of intracranial hypertension.
Avatar m tn I have been to my regular doctor who said inner ear - went on prednisone and that was terrible. ENT said it was allergies, I am on allergy meds and no difference. Cardiologist said my heart is just fine. MRI and MRA came back all good too other than I have an arachnoid cyst but he said its not causing my problems and I was probably born with it. So now my "diagnosis" is tight neck muscles. So I am seeing a physical therapist and acupuncturist but so far no big change.
Avatar m tn I have been prescribed prednisone for a hearing loss issue today. Ive been und since July 2011. I have not yet taken my post tx vl test although all my blood work looks good. I was wondering if anybody has any info on this. I looked on past posts and found it all to be old and not real specific. Thanks ahead of time!!
Avatar f tn However, the prednisone accelerated the osteoarthritis in my knees and hips, and I am now trying to get off prednisone. And this is the real problem of prednisone. For most people with osteoarthritis in addition to whatever else, prednisone reduces healing in tissues that are inflamed (by reducing inflammation which is part of healing). This is not true for every kind of osteoarthritis..
