I take 800 ADVIL when the pain gets really bad and when it is unbearable I go on PREDNISONE for 7 days. I do not do the prednisone more than 2X a year.
I was prescribed prednisone 20mg qd x 7 days for right shoulder and neck pain, provider thought that I my muscles was swollen on the inside. I tood prednisone 20mg for 2 days and began having anxiety symptoms, I was feeling jittery, felt like like I was dying, having right side pain by breast and top of rib cage, right leg pain, I just felt terrible, my bp began to become elevated, heart racing, crazy thoughts going through my head.
Every test normal except they did find 1 lesion top of spine which left permanent scar tissue thus hitting nerve leaving me numb from neck down- more like the hum of a tuning fork. Was on prednisone for 6 mos- only thing that took pain away. But have limited use of left arm and no individual finger control. Finally pain went away & was told don't diagnose as MS until 2nd lesion. They did happen to find I had low platelets, which I am on weekly treatments for.
On a short term basis, oral steroids will reduce inflammation, which will give the structures a change to rearrange themselves and relieve pressure on the nerve. Oral prednisone is not a good idea, and if provided for use in traction usually the medication is only prescribed for the first five days. Be very careful not to get "addicted" to the use of the prednisone.
This has happened before when prednisone increased. This time her neck is very swollen, c/o dysphasia, night sweats, hoarse voice. I noticed back of neck extremely tight. She is taking 20 mg of prednisone everyday per hemolytic anemia. Other med for CLL

Nothing is worse than nerve pain - absolutely nothing. I am so sorry you are suffering. Have you see a neuorologist regarding the nerve problems you are experiencing? If not, I would suggest you do so. Depending on what they see in your xrays and labs, they may want you to see a rheumatologist, but that would only be the case if you show signs of an autoimmune form of arthritis.
Please can anyone tell me what happened to me. I took prednisone for a week 40 to 60 mgs. One day I suddenly got severe neck pain down shoulders , arms down back and both legs sciatic nerve. I had neck and back issues with surgeries in both in the past and had pain in these areas, but now the pain is unreal, so severe it's torture. It's severe nerve pain . I quickly got off and wound up in withdrawal, I have to go up again and taper slowly.
I have neck and shoulder pain 24/7 for about 1 year now,frequent headaches and constant stabbing pain in my right arm pit,my upper right arm and shoulder has skin numbness that feels like needle pricks when touched.I have been to a company sponsored clinic and am seeing therapists 2 to 3 times per week,I have been tested for nerve irregularities and told nothing showed up.
No luck with the pain. Then i was put on prednisone for the next round.Again did not remotely touch the pain. i have realized that the pain is seemingly behind my ear and my neck/node in area feels tender. When I am not dosing myself with ibuprophen( I was taking percocet at night but hated the side effects ) I am acutely aware now of pain in the neck in a localized area; below my ear. The doctor ordered an M.R.I.
it was a viral meningitis. I had a lot of neck pain as well. The ER only did the spinal tap because I had a fever of 104.3
This is not a common illness so doctors will often overlook what is staring them in the face :)
My recovery was about 3 months. I do hope you go back to your doctor or the ER right away. It can be fatal if you do not get proper treatment asap. Good Luck!
I went to my family doctor who requested an x-ray. The pain started in my neck. The neck is now ok. I continue to get a tingling pain in my left upper arm with numbness in my thumb and 1st finger.(sometime my should feels tensed) I am now taking flexiril but the pain is still here. This has been going on for 2 weeks now. I think I may have developed this from my fitness class exercises. What do you recommend?

told me yesterday that my neck arteries are inflamed and has put me on prednisone for now. I will go see a cardiologist next week. She did do an EKG and my HR was normal. I have burning stabbing pain under my jaw line, entire neck sides, throat sides and behind my ears, the pain runs all the way to the back of the head. They did an MRI of the neck and everything was okay. But when she felt my neck under my jaw line, it hurts when she just touches the area.
ago with postviral pericarditis (classic symptoms of sternal, left sided chest pain with inspiration, position changes, low grade fever, on/off neck pain that radiates into left shoulder blade). ER prescribed Prednisone burst of 40 mg. x 4 days. Symptoms returned following week and was Rx Colchicine for 1 wk. due to NSAID allergy. Echo after tx with Prednisone was normal without any signs of effusion. EKG's, CXR and CT of chest WNL.
1. c3-c4 unconvertable joint degeneration, facet disease, posterior osteophyte complex. Left foramina is normal, Right formaina severe narrowing (however I am experiencing NO RIGHT SIDE PAIN).
2. C5-C6 Right eccentric disk buldge.
3. C6-C7 unconvertable joint degeneration, facet disease, posterior osteophyte complex. Moderate to Severe LEFT foramina narrowing. Right foramina normal.
FP referred to Neurosurgeon. Earliest available appt is 6 weeks out.
It did not really hurt but felt very stiff, as the day progressed I started to have pain in my neck but also my ankles, soon it was my wrists. By the next day all of my joints hurt so badly that I had a hard time walking. I called the Doctor who prescibed anti inflammatories and muscle relaxers as well as pain meds but didn't seem too concerned. Today i have severe pain in my hands and knuckles. This has happened so suddenly I had absolutely no warning.
Ok so I went off of iv steroids and now have 2 weeks of prednisone to take and this is my 2nd day. I feel a crawling sensation on left side of face. I feel like the tip of my tongue in tingly, I am seeing stars every now and then and some stomach pain. Just need reassurance this is normal? I thought I was supposed to have energy but it 5pm and I'm tired. I dont like this feeling.
So I started taking prednisone again. Prednisone is very effective at suppressing the symptom (the pain) but taking the supplement seems counter-act that. Now I don't know what to do. Is the symptom after taking the supplement the so called healing crisis or could it be anything in the supplement that is causing the pain? Was it a mistake that I took prednisone after taking the supplement? Should I continue taking the supplement? I am desparate looking for an answer.
I was wondering if one of the meds I was on could cause it? I have been off Prednisone for 7 days. The Dr put me on Zanaflex nightly and I take at bedtime (for the past 3 nights) which has not helped. Any help or thoughts is greatly appreciated.
Also, I'm 36 years old and in pretty good health, also have Hashimoto disease.
Over the last 3 weeks I've been experiencing a "lump" like feeling in my throat, slight hoarseness, pain in my ears, and most recently pain on my trachea. I've been on 2 different Antibiotics, Prednisone, and Prilosec since these symptoms appeared. The Prednisone worked wonders but, 2 days after I finished it, the symptoms returned. The weirdest thing about it is it's not like I've been down and out sick. The trachea pain is what has me really worried.
