Avatar f tn Some of the uses of prednisone include treating autoimmune disorders, skin diseases, disorders of the endocrine system, exacerbations of multiple sclerosis, respiratory diseases (such as acute asthma exacerbation) and rheumatoid arthritis. Prednisone has many different side effects associated with its use.
Avatar n tn Those sound like normal side effects of prednisone. Nasty drug but can save a dog's life. My golden has been taking 50mg daily for 2 months and the side effects are horrible.
507935 tn?1217359454 What exactly is "MP?" I know you said it's pretty much the same as imuran but by a different manufacturer but what is it's name? What kind of side effects are normally associated with it? Is it just another immunosuppresant?
Avatar f tn Hi I am on day 4 of a prednisone taper for sudden low frequency hearing loss and tinnitus. I am concerned about side hearing loss, and side effects of medication. I thought prednisone increased energy, I am exhausted. My tinnitus keeps changing ears and volumes. Has anyone else experienced this and what other side effects have you experienced after 3 weeks on this stuff?
1549643 tn?1495759353 for so long. - because of those side effects. Magnesium, will also help relieve the Prednisone side effects of anxiety-like symptoms you are experiencing now. Avatar n tn I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!
Avatar m tn moon face, high blood pressure, profuse sweating, irratibility, inability to deal with stress, and that is not including the side effects I get to look forward to in the next 10-15 years. I hate it so much that I have started weaning myself off of it with out my Dr's guidance. I just can't take it anymore! The imuran was working really well but they had to suspend it for a while because of adverse effects.
Avatar f tn Prednisone is a very, very powerful drug, so good and bad side effects. It shuts down your own adrenal system at anything over 5-7 mg a day I believe it is, so a whole bunch of psychiatric side effects are possible. Myself I was revved up, lots of energy, very out of it though and then horrible anxiety when they tried to taper me off - really painful. So welcome to the loonie club and we can all support each other....
Avatar f tn m also on methotrexate which we just upped the dose on so I can slowly come off the prednisone. The side effects if steroids suck but it could always be worse. I as actually losing weight prior to prednisone I had lost 20lbs now I have just maintained my weight while busting my butt at the gym. Hopefully the prednisone is helping u and where its draining heals soon.
Avatar n tn I found Licorice Root, seems to help. Claims to do the same thing as prednisone without the side effects. So far so good.
Avatar f tn was red and flushed only on head neck and face.....nowhere else......was told prednisone side effect....but being riddled with panic disorder I checked latuda site......rare but deadly side effect called nms...neuropaletic malignant syndrome.....symptoms are. Excess sweating,Bp changes, heart beat changes, rigid muscles confusion, fever, breathing changes......says if have any of these to call needs treatment in hospital......is this thing I'm going thru nms?
Avatar f tn m taking 10mg two times per day for two days then one time per day for two days. Will I have moon face or other side effects when taking this drug short term? I am nervous, I started tonight. I just want to feel better and like myself again.
Avatar f tn It can give you short-term relief but trust me, the long-term effects of prednisone are not worth it. I don't have your chronic fatigue issues, but I can see where mtx can contribute to that problem! I assume you are taking a prescription folic acid tablet 24 hours after your mtx dose? This can help alleviate some of the unpleasant side effects like mouth sores and hair thinning.
Avatar m tn She told me that she had taken the steroid 3 different times for life or death situations and saved her life every time but left her with this crazy side effects. She told me every time she took it, the side effects left her within 32 days exactly but for me it didn't go away for months, and I sometimes still feel weird like the side effects but my aunt said this could just be stress or my mind playing tricks but either way I don't like it.
505094 tn?1240317431 re confused and fearful. Have you looked up the side effects of progesterone? I was on that years ago and couldn't tolerate it, but for the life of me I can't remember what happpened. Like you, I too have been on loads of meds. In your place I would ask as much as you can during your biopsy, and would also bombard your PCP with questions. He or she should be guiding you through all of this. The stress factor makes things incredibly worse.
608104 tn?1352587153 5 days 30mg; 5 days 20 mg; 5 days 10 mg. As I got better, side-effects were worse than the illness. Gastritis required re-starting sucralfate at least at bedtime, agitation and mood swings limited my cognitive function. I limited my driving because of distractibility. I'm 70 with ADHD. This is the second time I've followed the pulmonologist orders for the prednisone with side effects worse than the URI. I meet with my primary doctor today for post-infection followup.
666513 tn?1256917455 Lol, of course he said no. I always love the way I feel on prednisone, but it certainly has some nasty side effects after long term usage. I was on it for nearly three months some years back, for a lung infliction. Later that year, I had months of trouble with water setting in my feet and legs, and had to take meds to expel the extra fluids. It went away, but it was nasty. I've heard of a lot of nasty long term usages from the stuff.
757137 tn?1347196453 If you are still on steroids you can't be cured. As for me, the days are long gone when I could barely walk across a room. But I got off the steroids.
1807991 tn?1438779770 My side effects from prednisone have been anxiety, panic attacks, metal taste in mouth, sound intolerance, smell intolerance, communication disability, bladder infection feeling, rashes on vagina, even started a period like during tx, ( mentapause for 6 years) ...has anybody else had anything similar happen to them when given another drug regiment or am I alone on this one?
Avatar f tn Hi again. Do you mean that you fear side effects from this dose of Prednisone that you didn't get from much larger doses of the IV? Could you say why this is? Actually, IVSM is intravenous methylprednisolone, and it's considerably stronger than just Prednisone, even at the same dosage (as I learned a few weeks ago when we had quite a discussion here about this). So you've had much more of this than you'd thought.
Avatar f tn I know some people have said there are no side effects from Cortef and that it's probably my dose is too low, but I now have at least 10 of the side effects listed on the prescription information website. These also all start within minutes of taking a dose (I'm currently taking 25mg). I get headaches, become extremely thirsty, heart pounding, very dizzy and weak, feel like I'm going to pass out.
