Hi I am on day 4 of a prednisone taper for sudden low frequency hearing loss and tinnitus. I am concerned about side hearing loss, and side effects of medication. I thought prednisone increased energy, I am exhausted. My tinnitus keeps changing ears and volumes. I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!

moon face, high blood pressure, profuse sweating, irratibility, inability to deal with stress, and that is not including the side effects I get to look forward to in the next 10-15 years. I hate it so much that I have started weaning myself off of it with out my Dr's guidance. I just can't take it anymore! The imuran was working really well but they had to suspend it for a while because of adverse effects.

Prednisone is a very, very powerful drug, so good and bad side effects. It shuts down your own adrenal system at anything over 5-7 mg a day I believe it is, so a whole bunch of psychiatric side effects are possible. m also on methotrexate which we just upped the dose on so I can slowly come off the prednisone. The side effects if steroids suck but it could always be worse. I as actually losing weight prior to prednisone I had lost 20lbs now I have just maintained my weight while busting my butt at the gym. Hopefully the prednisone is helping u and where its draining heals soon.

I found Licorice Root, seems to help. Claims to do the same thing as prednisone without the side effects. So far so good.

It can give you short-term relief but trust me, the long-term effects of prednisone are not worth it. I don't have your chronic fatigue issues, but I can see where mtx can contribute to that problem! I assume you are taking a prescription folic acid tablet 24 hours after your mtx dose? This can help alleviate some of the unpleasant side effects like mouth sores and hair thinning.

I was on it for nearly three months some years back, for a lung infliction. Later that year, I had months of trouble with water setting in my feet and legs, and had to take meds to expel the extra fluids. It went away, but it was nasty. If you are still on steroids you can't be cured. As for me, the days are long gone when I could barely walk across a room. But I got off the steroids.

Hi again. Do you mean that you fear side effects from this dose of Prednisone that you didn't get from much larger doses of the IV? Could you say why this is? Actually, IVSM is intravenous methylprednisolone, and it's considerably stronger than just Prednisone, even at the same dosage (as I learned a few weeks ago when we had quite a discussion here about this). So you've had much more of this than you'd thought.

I know some people have said there are no side effects from Cortef and that it's probably my dose is too low, but I now have at least 10 of the side effects listed on the prescription information website. These also all start within minutes of taking a dose (I'm currently taking 25mg). I get headaches, become extremely thirsty, heart pounding, very dizzy and weak, feel like I'm going to pass out.
