Avatar f tn t talked to you before, but I would like to say hi and give you some advice about joint and muscle pain. I am sorry you are having these problems, I feel for you. I have Stills disease which is a arthritis kind of like rheumatoid arthritis, it is very painful. Do your joints become hot, warm, red, swollen or tender? Are you running any kind of fever? Do you have any rashes? Are both of the legs or arms affected or just one side? Have you tried naproxen? Meloxicam? Flexeril? Baclofen?
Avatar m tn Surgical options for persisting sciatica includes nerve decompression at the lower spine level. Consult an orthopaedician for prescription of pain medicines and muscle relaxants. I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me again for any clarification.

Avatar f tn I fell three months ago and started having a constant pain in my rear. I had xrays that found no breaks. The pain is constant and feels like a bad charlie horse. It is now moved into my calf also. Muscle relaxers don't help. What could I have done that could cause this kind of pain for this long ? I've tried everything to make it go away. Stretching only makes it worse.
902019 tn?1249861414 I can only tell you personally that I have had no side effects from Imuran & have been on it for over 7 yrs. However, whenever my prednisone was cut down I would get the muscle pain which I guess I would call arithritis. Now, I am on 2.5 mg of prednisone & doing fine along with the 50 mg of Imuran. Hopes this helps some & best of luck.

Avatar n tn Nothing is worse than nerve pain - absolutely nothing. I am so sorry you are suffering. Have you see a neuorologist regarding the nerve problems you are experiencing? If not, I would suggest you do so. Depending on what they see in your xrays and labs, they may want you to see a rheumatologist, but that would only be the case if you show signs of an autoimmune form of arthritis.
Avatar f tn A muscle relaxant is the last thing you want in your system. It degrades muscle tone and is guaranteed to cause you chronic pain and paralysis. And you don't want a cervical collar either. An x-ray is also positively useless. An MRI is helpful, but not necessary. The problem can be diagnosed from the pain dermatome. A problem with chiropractors is that they do not have access to an MRI, among other things, and in many states have limited prescription rights.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Methylprednisolone (pak) and I've taken 4 out of the 6 pills in the first line so far, two per dose. It was prescribed for ear congestion. Now I'm having joint/muscle pain and muscle weakness. Is this a normal side effect and not cause for concern? Or should I contact a doctor?
Avatar f tn What is steroid myopathy? What are the symptoms? Do you have to be on prednisone for a certain lenght of time? I have been on prednisone for 12yrs. I am just wondering!!!!!!!!
Avatar n tn ve taken prednisone for one year and I now use a walker because of muscle atrophy caused by the prednisone, I have stomach problems, edema in my legs ( very painful), moon face (a round puffy face), weight gain, bladder problems. If the prednisone is only for pain, I would use something else. I would only use prednisone if it meant life or death with no other possible medication that could help the problem. I would get a second opinion from another vet without mentioning what this vet said.
Avatar n tn (1) Rest for a week. Anti-inflammatories. Prednisone for two weeks, then ibuprufin. Start at 60 mg oral prednisone a day, then taper down. (2) Intermittant gentle cervical traction 5-10 minutes in duration six to eight times a day. (3) Good hydration. (4) Range of motion exercises rotating the head 360 degrees through the limits of pain. (5) Isometric exercises to increase muscle tone. Flat of the hand against the forehead. Force forehead against hand.
Avatar f tn She ordered several antibody tests and immediately put me on 60mgs of p\prednisone daily, Omeprezole for the heartburn and stomach issues with the Prednisone. She also put me on D2, saying my levels were amazingly low (bloodworked). She referred me to an ENT, saying that she thought there might be other issues with the muscles in my throat.

Avatar f tn I have had to take Prednisone many times for asthma and bronchitis. I am almost always given a dose pack for one or two weeks at a time. While I am taking the Prednisone, I almost always have pain in my right side under my rib cage. Sometimes I have the pain when I am not taking the steroids, but I can count on the pain when taking them.

Avatar n tn However at the end of the prednisone course while the chest pain and tightness stayed away, the constant stinging pinching pressure right under the top of the sternum/center of my clavicle did return. The doctor was not concerned about this due to the normal chest X-ray and thought it could be anything from reflux (doesn't feel like that) or muscle/tendon strain due to the migraines.

Avatar n tn Hello, A couple of months ago, I was in a car accident. Another party struck the side of my car. Side curtain air bags and a seat belt saved me from serious injury. About 10 days after the accident I started to get a periodic numbness sensation on my right shoulder down to my elbow. It's been around for the past 6 weeks. No pain and very little discomfort just the numbness that goes away in a few seconds. I've seen a chiropractor but did not have much luck.
Avatar n tn my 9 year old dog has been on prednisone for 6 weeks for ITP and we are weaning her off now.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if one of the meds I was on could cause it? I have been off Prednisone for 7 days. The Dr put me on Zanaflex nightly and I take at bedtime (for the past 3 nights) which has not helped. Any help or thoughts is greatly appreciated. Also, I'm 36 years old and in pretty good health, also have Hashimoto disease.
