You make a great point that weight loss medication like phentermine is not a long term weight loss solution. If you do go back to old habits, you might expect to gain back the weight that you lost. But the good news is that you're in a good starting place and you are still motivated to keep it going. Good luck!

I would never recommend Phentermine because it can be dangerous AND even though you might lose weight on it, you will most likely gain it back once you go off the med. My new son-in-law and my daughter have done it.......my SIL continues and IS losing weight. Unfortunately, daughter lost weight on it just long enough to get through her wedding in Sept then quit --- guess what?? She's gained back all + some.......
B12 shots should give you energy, but they are not a weight loss drug.
I feel all i did was trade the illegal drug for a legal one, although i have purchased phentermine off the internet for years. the kick in the butt, I got fat again, I am on jenny craig finally and helping a little, but still can't seem to move without popping the little white and blue pill.

Since being diagnosed I have started taking a half tablet of phentermine to control my appetite in an effort to lose weight. I also started taking birth control again. My doctor also prescribed taking metformin(glucophage) in addition to the phentermine and birth control. I have lost about 8 pounds in the last month since taking the phentermine but i dont feel like I am losing enough weight for how little i have been eating.
First off, I'd like to commend you for getting off both the vicodin and cigarettes. That's a awesome thing to have done. I smoked approx 2 pk/day for almost 40 yrs - quit 2 and 1/2 yrs ago, so I know it's not easy.
I can't tell you what to do about the phentermine --- that would be a decision that you and your doctor should make together.
I too have done Phentermine (it is banned in canada now) and lost weight. You cannot be on it forever and your advice is bang on!! You do have to get up and move to burn calories. The food tracker in here is awesome!! It really makes you look where your food calories are coming from.
I'm on 30mg phentermine. ive been taking it for 3 weeks now. lost 4lbs, ate one good meal, and gained it back all in one day. I was down to salads and water, with no results what so ever. It also makes me very, very sleepy. I need to lose the weight, but nothing working.. any comments anyone has would be greatly appreciated!
m curious why more studies have not been conducted to study the correlation between phentermine and acne? Acne is not listed as a possible side effect of phentermine, but phentermine is considered a methamphetamine; methamphetamines are known to causes acne. I am a biology teacher and am frustrated that medical professionals are not confirming the overwhelming reports of acne being associated with phentermine. Is it a conspiracy????
Are you having trouble losing weight on the Phentermine alone? I am on this too 15 mg twice a day. It isn't a complete stop appetite pill. I started out taking it once a day in the morning. Then later twice per day. I helps me to control how much I eat. I started in January and now I'm 37 pounds down. But before I started to take this medicine I got away from red meats, sweets, white bread. Basically carbs all around. That got me into a good eating habit.
and want to get to my pre pregnancy weight of 120. I have tried other diets and just cant seem to get the extra weight off. My son is now 1 and i'm starting to feel a bit depressed about the extra pounds. Is 15 mg enough for me to lose the weight? I do not want to take any higher of a dosage considering i'm not technically overweight.
I prescribed60 mg of adderall but one week I had to take left over phentermine and 10mg adderall and my focusing was great and energy and I still do take 1/3 of phentermine a day.
Since then, I have started to see a Weight Management doctor for my weight issues related to the PCOS. The wight doctor put me on Phentermine. I am supposed to start these tomorrow but am a little concerned if Phentermine and a Beta Blocker can be taken safely together under my certain circumstances and if I should have any concerns regarding my already strained heart, while on something like Phentermine?

t already, please discontinue those pills. The only true way to loose weight and keep it off is old-fashioned dieting as the above poster has stated, all the other ways are "quick fixes" but usually the results are short lived and they can wreck your health. Any pill that ends in "mine" are stimulants, they are not safe.
I don't want to burst your bubble, but there's no scientific basis to the idea that HCG does anything to aid in weight loss; basically, all it does is fatten your doctor's wallet.

Synthroid is a "Pregnancy Category A." Which is safer than Tylenol (which is a "B"). But you should always confirm all medications with your doctor. Are you on Synthroid for thyroid issues or weight loss? He'd probably keep you on for thyroid problems, but with pregnancy, weight loss isn't safe.
I was having much difficulty losing weight so I went to a Weight Loss Clinic, where they perscribed phentermine, hydrochlorthiazide and a fiber pill with calcium. I was wondering how dangerous this is and if I could/should stop my antidressant/anxiety medications abruptly or ween myself of them while I am on the weight loss pills.
I am about 30-40 lbs overweight and some of my friends and co-workers have been doing the medical weight loss with the B-12 shots and Phentermine pills. I am so scared to take the pills because I am terrified about my heart. I feel I don't have a lot of options because due to constantly being depressed and having anxiety about the skipped beats I eat to make myself feel better. I know it's the easy way out but I would love to do it and get the weight off.
Back in June this year (2010), I started taking Phentermine for weight loss. About a week into the treatment I had an intensely itchy hive wheal on my right hand and also itchy skin on the backs of my legs just under my buttocks. I thought it could have been a dust allergy because I know I'm allergic to dust, among many other things. I went off the Phentermine, and the wheal never went away, but it didn't bother me too much either.
i am really excited about my weight loss. the only negative aspects are slight headaches and if you do not take the phentermine early enough in the morning it will keep you up at night because it gives you so much energy. and the triamterene is a water pill. most of my weight was water retention. guys if you really want to loose the weight fast this is the way to go!!
my doc. gave me phentermine 37.5 should i take it if i already have heart polputations?
