Avatar m tn Hi, last year I started having lots of health issues, prior to that I've always been pretty healty, exercising and eating healthy. I'm 41 years old and in March of 2010 I had brain surgery to clip an unruptured aneurysm. Then 3 months later I had a laparoscopic appendectomy. I also have prostate problems (chronic prostatitis) & stomach problems. And I have been diagnosed with IBS, GASTRITIS, DIVERTICULOSIS.

Avatar f tn I have a wicked anxiety disorder, for which I take 40 mg of paxil daily. I know paxil can cause heart and lung problems for the baby. I obviously want no harm to come to our baby but I am TERRIFIED of stopping the Paxil. The last time i tried I got the withdraw symptoms of derealization and depersonalization. it was the most horrifying experience of my life. I do not ever want to feel that again. So, any advice on this would really help.
Avatar f tn By the way, is your doctor a psychiatrist? And why Paxil? Have you been on meds before, because if not, Paxil is a very difficult med to start with. Whatever, I hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn I have been on Paxil for 5 years (20mg) and this is my 3rd attempt at quitting. the first time i quit cold turkey and got the brain zaps and flue like symptoms i tried that for a couple of days and decided to go back on. The 2nd time I reduced by cutting my pills in half for about a week then stopped cold turkey; but after a month of still being completely emotionally unstable and feeling like everyone hated me and was out to get me decided to go back on.
Avatar m tn I'm really glad you're seeing a doctor. The symptoms you describe sound horrible, but they don't scream MS to me. Has your doctor given any indication of what he/she thinks you should be tested for? The symptoms you describe could be caused by many, many things. If I were you, I would want to know what my doc is looking for or what he/she thinks could potentially be causing the problems. I think that's the place to start.
673515 tn?1234320119 My doctor send me to the neurologist because i was also having severe head spinning symptoms (vertigo) he did recommended paxil and i was taking paxil for 2 years it did help me a 20% i would say butt at the same time i felt like if i was flying and since then to i kind of forget things often and also cant concentrate. My doctor says im a healthy person but then why dont i feel healthy if it is not heart palpitations it is heartburn if it is not heartburn then it is the spinning.
230262 tn?1316645934 And I dont mean mild heartburn, Im talking a Severe Acid Storm- where it makes me nauseaous, i get gas pressure so bad i feel liike Im having a heart attack and it makes me sick the whole day sometimes after these attacks. When i got these episodes, I tried everything to get rid of the terrible burning including Maalox, Tums, Rolaids, Gas Ex and even gulping huge thick cups of baking soda with water and even that didnt help it.
Avatar n tn Strange bowel movemnts. Constant rumbling in stomach feels like upper left abdomen. Waking in middle of night with gas and bowel movements. Complete loss of appetite energy and patience. I've had upper and lower endcospy (both completely normal) esophagal barium x ray. Blood work, 2 ct scans one with dye and one with barium and dye. All test "normal.
Avatar f tn what is the proper way to taper back to paxil? 3. How unsafe is paxil with pregnancy and what other options do I have? HELP! I feel like I am losing my mind!!!!
Avatar n tn I felt like i was dieing and that my stomach had a burning hole in it and gas bubbles were coming out into my stomach (I could even feel the gas bubbles! It was crazy). Fortunatly though, my own diagnosis wasn't exactly possible considering i keep in shape like you do and im young, NO reason at all for stomach problems-except anxiety. So i went to the doctor ive had forever, great guy- very old and experienced, and he laughed and told me it was stress.
Avatar f tn could be the cause of the sinus tachycardia so he recently switched me from Paxil to Lexapro. So the Paxil is now out of my system but I am still feeling the rapid heart beat. I know it's not dangerous since that is what the cardiologists have told me but I'm experiencing extreme anticipatory anxiety as to when my heart will speed up again and that something is going to happen to me, such as fainting or dying.
Avatar n tn Can I quit the paxil and take the klonopin 3 x a day as prescribed and safely get off Paxil. I am getting fat!
467977 tn?1262714747 I take Paxil and buspar on a daily basis. I used to only take the paxil, but I still had terrible anxiety in the morning. My doctor then added the buspar 2x a day. It helped me almost immediately. It took away that horrible nausea and anxiety by 90 % in the morning. Some people say that buspar isn't effective, but it has been very effective for me. I take Klonopin only on an as needed basis. (Which is very rarely). Hope this helps!

Avatar n tn s a very tough drug to stop taking for most people. I will tell you I was on clonazepam and Paxil at the same time for years, but the Paxil was way more effective than the clonazepam. What may have happened is new challenges may have arisen in your life -- drugs don't cure anything, they just mitigate the symptoms but new challenges can override the effect.
Avatar m tn I am 3 weeks back on Paxil after a failed attempt to switch medications to Lexapro. I have read a lot that Paxil loses its effectiveness after the first time. I (stupidly) have started, stopped & restarted Paxil on several different occasions and it always has seemed to work. I was on paxil 20mg originally then stopped cold turkey and went back on at Paxil CR 12.5. Upped dose over time to Paxil CR 25mg.
Avatar m tn I would like information regarding the differences between Paxil and Prozac. I've used Paxil in the past, and the truth is that it is very hard to stop taking it. Right now I'm taking only 10mg (paxil) but I don't feel that is working anymore and have been thinking about switching to Prozac.
397118 tn?1219762250 Hi everyone, well I found out that my son is doing xanax but I started investigating how you can get high on xanax and I didn't know so I found out that he is snorting it I just don't know how you can abuse xanax can some one help me with this one please?
Avatar f tn My husband and I are trying to have kids. We have been trying for only a few month, however, we are not young anymore (35) and I don't want to wait a year before consulting with a doctor (as it usually recommended). So here is my question: My husband has been taking paxil for the past 13 years (10mg). From the research online I found out that paxil changes sperm DNA that reduces permeability and as a result reduces the chance for pregnancy.
Avatar n tn s no way to know if it will do what Paxil did. They are different drugs. You need to withdraw from the Paxil first, not add new side effects from a new drug, until you've withdrawn.
Avatar n tn I have been on 20 mg paxil for panic attacks for 7 years, I've tried to wean from paxil(felt like had no energy on paxil) many times, unsuccessfully. I've recently switched to 20 mg prozac, without a taper. After about 5 weeks, I started to feel lousey-nausea, diarrhea, no appetite, depressed. Still feeling lousey. Would it likely be better to increase prozac, or switch back to paxil. If switching back to paxil, what are the best ways to do this.
Avatar n tn Yea, Paxil is a bad one for weight gain. Fair warning... If any doctor tries to put you on Remeron and weight is a concern for you then SAY NO WAY. I have been on both at differnt times in the past. You want to talk about weight gain? OMG! Remeron makes Paxil look like a diet pill! Taking Remeron is like wanting to be fat.
Avatar n tn Getting off Paxil (if needed) is really no worse that stopping any other antidepressant. Paxil is the one SSRI that people report the most weight gain with. This doesn't mean you will gain weight on Paxil. Everyone is different, but yes Paxil is notorious for weight gain side effects.
Avatar f tn SHe told me to keep taking Paxil for just a week which she perscribed me cymbalta for 30 mg for a week with the paxil then she has me on 60 mg of Cymbalta and she told me to stop taking Paxil when i start taking 60mg. So is she weaning me off the Paxil along with the Cymbalta? And is this safe for a week of taking cymbalta 30mg and Paxil 20mg for a week?
Avatar m tn once or twice a year. Could this be caused by the Paxil.. Am I heading to dementia ? Or is it because I am off paxil? I talked with my doctor and he asked if I would consider going back on paxil or trying another drug.
