Hi, last year I started having lots of health issues, prior to that I've always been pretty healty, exercising and eating healthy. I'm 41 years old and in March of 2010 I had brain surgery to clip an unruptured aneurysm. Then 3 months later I had a laparoscopic appendectomy. I also have prostate problems (chronic prostatitis) & stomach problems. And I have been diagnosed with IBS, GASTRITIS, DIVERTICULOSIS.

so she prescribed me paxil..40mg dose..and i trusted that ..shes doctor =) went home the next morning ..took my paxil..and an hour later i was sick as a dog..all my sypmtoms were worse..on top of naseau..dizziness..and feeling like i want to vomit ...so i went to the ER..the next dum doc tells me ohh maam you wouldnt feel the effects of that paxil for two weeks..?? really then why do i feel this way!?? lol...sooo this ER doc gives me klonopin to balance the paxil...so i took it..

I have a wicked anxiety disorder, for which I take 40 mg of paxil daily. I know paxil can cause heart and lung problems for the baby. I obviously want no harm to come to our baby but I am TERRIFIED of stopping the Paxil. The last time i tried I got the withdraw symptoms of derealization and depersonalization. it was the most horrifying experience of my life. I do not ever want to feel that again. So, any advice on this would really help.

By the way, is your doctor a psychiatrist? And why Paxil? Have you been on meds before, because if not, Paxil is a very difficult med to start with. Whatever, I hope you feel better soon.

I have been on Paxil for 5 years (20mg) and this is my 3rd attempt at quitting. the first time i quit cold turkey and got the brain zaps and flue like symptoms i tried that for a couple of days and decided to go back on. The 2nd time I reduced by cutting my pills in half for about a week then stopped cold turkey; but after a month of still being completely emotionally unstable and feeling like everyone hated me and was out to get me decided to go back on.

I'm really glad you're seeing a doctor. The symptoms you describe sound horrible, but they don't scream MS to me. Has your doctor given any indication of what he/she thinks you should be tested for? The symptoms you describe could be caused by many, many things. If I were you, I would want to know what my doc is looking for or what he/she thinks could potentially be causing the problems. I think that's the place to start.

My doctor send me to the neurologist because i was also having severe head spinning symptoms (vertigo) he did recommended paxil and i was taking paxil for 2 years it did help me a 20% i would say butt at the same time i felt like if i was flying and since then to i kind of forget things often and also cant concentrate. I felt like i was dieing and that my stomach had a burning hole in it and gas bubbles were coming out into my stomach (I could even feel the gas bubbles! It was crazy). could be the cause of the sinus tachycardia so he recently switched me from Paxil to Lexapro. So the Paxil is now out of my system but I am still feeling the rapid heart beat. I take Paxil and buspar on a daily basis. I used to only take the paxil, but I still had terrible anxiety in the morning. My doctor then added the buspar 2x a day. It helped me almost immediately. It took away that horrible nausea and anxiety by 90 % in the morning. Some people say that buspar isn't effective, but it has been very effective for me. I take Klonopin only on an as needed basis. (Which is very rarely). Hope this helps!

Hi I have been on paxil for nine years.. I am currently 25 and feel like the paxil isnt working for me.. I also had tried stopping paxil for four months cold turkey.. it was HORRIBLE.... so i went back on 10 mgs.. now ive been on 10 mg for 3 years.. I just switched to zoloft over night.. as a doctor reccomended.. I am worried I will have paxil withdrawls symptons.. I really hope I dont.. I am taking 50 mg of zoloft.. i have felt ok since and its been four days... hopefully it will be fine..

s a very tough drug to stop taking for most people. I will tell you I was on clonazepam and Paxil at the same time for years, but the Paxil was way more effective than the clonazepam. What may have happened is new challenges may have arisen in your life -- drugs don't cure anything, they just mitigate the symptoms but new challenges can override the effect.

I am 3 weeks back on Paxil after a failed attempt to switch medications to Lexapro. I have read a lot that Paxil loses its effectiveness after the first time. I have been on 20 mg paxil for panic attacks for 7 years, I've tried to wean from paxil(felt like had no energy on paxil) many times, unsuccessfully. I've recently switched to 20 mg prozac, without a taper. After about 5 weeks, I started to feel lousey-nausea, diarrhea, no appetite, depressed. Still feeling lousey. Yea, Paxil is a bad one for weight gain. Fair warning... If any doctor tries to put you on Remeron and weight is a concern for you then SAY NO WAY. I have been on both at differnt times in the past. You want to talk about weight gain? OMG! Remeron makes Paxil look like a diet pill! Taking Remeron is like wanting to be fat.

Getting off Paxil (if needed) is really no worse that stopping any other antidepressant. Paxil is the one SSRI that people report the most weight gain with. This doesn't mean you will gain weight on Paxil. Everyone is different, but yes Paxil is notorious for weight gain side effects.

SHe told me to keep taking Paxil for just a week which she perscribed me cymbalta for 30 mg for a week with the paxil then she has me on 60 mg of Cymbalta and she told me to stop taking Paxil when i start taking 60mg.
