How long paxil withdrawal lasts

Common Questions and Answers about How long paxil withdrawal lasts

paxil

Avatar f tn So, I'm just wondering how long withdrawal from Tramadol usually lasts. I have been doing a lot better lately; the brain zaps are very infrequent, and I usually feel okay on just 2mgs of Suboxone a day. I want to stop taking the Sub when the withdrawal from Tramadol should be over, but I heard that Tramadol withdrawal lasts longer than opiates. I'm getting excited because I might not even need an SSRI, as I am feeling much better from the Serotonin withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar n tn Fish oil might help with the brain zaps. As for how long withdrawal lasts, it depends on the person. So does the taper. If you feel you need to, you can go back on the drug at the last dose at which you didn't have withdrawal and taper more slowly. Effexor is known for tough withdrawals, so what you're feeling isn't at all unusual. I'm not sure what the problem would be taking the klonopin.
Avatar f tn It would be a slow process of gradual reductions usually taking at least six weeks. Is that what you did? As to how long it lasts, depends on the person.
Avatar m tn She said it was normal and could not tell me how long they will last. I have read that some side effects lasts up to a year. Which is a long time, I just don't ever want to go back to that drug or any drug without knowing the long term side effects of it. I'll try the fish oil and eating healthier. Wish me luck!!!
10608291 tn?1411415602 How long withdrawal lasts depends on the person, on how long you were on the medication, how well it was working and was metabolized, and how safely you stopped taking it. Some people's brains adapt better than others'. One way to tell if something is due to withdrawal or something else is, if you never had it before and it happens for the first time after stopping a med, the most likely explanation is withdrawal.
Avatar m tn No matter how slow you taper off, when you completely stop the drug you will have some side-effects, though they will be less extreme because you DID taper off. Sometimes it takes a month for the effects to wear off with the worse withdrawal effects happening in the middle week or two. Good luck and I hope you feel better.
Avatar f tn I'm trying to get off Paxil by cross tapering with Prozac to minimize withdrawal symptoms. Right now I'm on 10mg paxil. but I'm not sure how to proceed? My doctor said to take 20mg prozac along with 10 paxil for a month which I don't agree with. Thats because I think if prozac stays that long in my system I will also have trouble getting off of it. So my plan is: Week 1) 10mg paxil 10mg prozac. Week 2) 5mg paxil 20mg prozac. Week 3) 0mg paxil 20mg prozac. then stop.
983155 tn?1248700406 I heard its rough to get off Paxil, are u under Drs care? I know u can't go cold turkey, thats for sure, its going to take a while, think of how long it took for it to work, so it could be a few more weeks, hang in there! What symptoms are u having?
1758627 tn?1312855055 They took you off xanax in 28 days after 10 years I could see how you would be very shaky .That is a very quick taper normally they do slow taper with a longer acting benzo .I am not sure if the sauna will help or not but if it helps you feel better then go for it .Have u looked into recovery care to help with the mental part of this ?
Avatar f tn m not all that up on the new ones that have come out the last few years, but the only one I know of that lasts a long time in the body is Prozac, which takes about a month to completely leave the system -- it is thought that is why fewer people complain about stopping Prozac than the other ssris. But again, when you have a doc who is being cautious with your health, let the doctor do that. It's a blessing.
Avatar m tn One question would be how quickly did you stop the Paxil -- abruptly or after a long taper? And how did you feel while going off of it? As I said on the other forum, the withdrawal effects of stopping Paxil are its worst aspect. Another problem with Paxil is that it's stronger than other antidepressants for whatever reason, and often other antidepressants don't work because of that. (Often, Paxil doesn't work anymore either once you quit using it).
Avatar n tn I have been taking a very HIGH 120-150 mg Paxil which is twice the recommended dose. I came off cold turkey but immediately took Zoloft which is for anxiety also. I was taking 1000 mg just to feel half normal. I was still jumpy and jittery and had the worse migraine that you could ever know. It was excruciating!!! I mean my temp was up, I thought my brain was about to explode. My heart was racing. I was told that if I did not have the Zoloft that I would of died.
Avatar f tn t go back on antidepressants - but am wondering what to call this - maybe brain zaps work. Equally, I am wondering how long THIS is going to happen.
Avatar m tn My doc stated that I could switch over to Lexapro from Paxil so I took both for 2 weeks then dropped Paxil all together. Could I still be feeling the affects of Paxil withdrawal? I felt good after 2 weeks and even tried to come down on my Klonopin a couple of days after my paxil ended. Mistake! Just wanting to know if anybody had the same issues and how long do I need to plan on suffering? This is getting old and I'm ready to feel like my old self again.
Avatar m tn t the problem I had, for which I was prescribed Paxil in the first place, and which I have had for a very long time. What I have now began during the Paxil withdrawal and hasn't gone away. None of the doctors I've seen know what to do. Read what people write, not just what you want to hear that matches your own experiences. People have different experiences.
Avatar n tn You should never quit any of these meds cold turkey. Go to your psychiatrist and get a tapering schedule. If he sounds like he doesn't know about tapering, see another shrink. Slower is better. You're not anyone else, so no one can tell you how long it'll last. Some get no withdrawal, some get minor ones, some get bad ones. I still encourage you to properly taper off it.
Avatar m tn Hello I've been on Paxil for almost 16 years and decide to stop because I've been very tiered and seem to be gaining weight every time the dosage was increased. I started tapering for 60mg 40mg a day for 2 weeks 20mg a day for 2 weeks 10mg a day for 1 week 5mg a day for 1 week. This last week I've been taking 5mg every other day and noticed I've been very dizzy. Reading online it seems this is a very common withdrawal symptom.
Avatar n tn I was on 40 mg of Paxil for 4 years and couldn't take the severe exhaustion , "numbness if feeling" or fog so I stopped 6 days ago , cold turkey. How long will the symptoms last and what can I do to relieve them (without a new antidepressant).
Avatar n tn i think your going through paxil withdrawal. i had just what your having when i went off of it, the brain zaps and dizzyness. you should taper gradually. the wellbutrin is very different from paxil, it only works on dopamine so if your taking it for anxiety also it will probably make it worse. it's very stimulating. talk to your dr. about weaning off of the paxil.
Avatar f tn First of all, I don't think Zoloft is approved for use in pregnancy either. Second, how quickly did you quit using Paxil? Switching to Zoloft won't help the withdrawal from Paxil, which is one of the most difficult medications to stop taking particularly after that long. It needs to be done very slowly -- after that long it might take months and months.
Avatar n tn Nobody can predict this for any individual. You can get withdrawal from many medications. It depends on the person, how old you are, how long you've been on it, and even then some people get none and some get a lot. Just make sure you do it with a very knowledgeable psychiatrist who knows how to taper one off these meds and how to control withdrawals when that needs to be done. Most psychiatrists, and few primary care docs, do know or care about this, so find out ahead of time.
Avatar n tn Okay, here's my two cents worth. First, benzo withdrawal can last forever or never occur at all. There's no basis whatsoever for your psychiatrist telling you how long it lasts, because it's different for everyone. There is something called protracted withdrawal syndrome, and it's quite common with benzos. However, since you weren't on them that long and didn't take that much, I doubt you have that.
Avatar m tn Long term cognitive problems with paxil? Any recent news or personal experiences regarding long term use..loss of memory, etc.
