Avatar n tn My 10 year old schnoodle was recently diagnosed with pancreatitis. Tests showed many of her organs were swollen and inflamed and her heart was not beating properly. This was only a about 10 days ago. She is still recovering, but to my alarm, I find her vision has also suddenly deteriorated. What could possibly have caused all of these things to go so wrong so fast? She has been a very healthy dog all of her life, until this. I can't imagine why everything has gone wrong at once. Please help.
Avatar n tn from years of worrying), match up quite a bit with chronic pancreatitis. I am not experiencing weight loss or diarrhea. I'm going to call my Gastroenterologist to see if I can get squeezed in. But, naturally, I'm terrified. Can any other illnesses also come across with these symptoms? Also, medscape has those depressing mortality figures. It sounds like I'm dead meat if I have this. One article said there is no treatment yet I hear of people who end up having surgeries.
Avatar n tn Diagnosing pancreatitis is not straightforward since similar symptoms can be generated by other disease processes as well, and it is necessary to distinguish between these before appropriate treatment can begin. Ultrasound examination of the abdomen and identification of elevated levels of amylase and lipase (enzymes produced by the pancreas) in the mother's blood are usually sufficient to confirm the diagnosis of pancreatitis.

Most of the gastro-intestinal tract is tender when pressed, especially the small intestine, liver and gall bladder. There may even have been a gall bladder operation that failed to improve the condition, sometimes even worsening the symptoms. There could be a history of thrush or oral, anal or vaginal itching.

I have researched Ulcerative Colitis and he has all the signs so I thought. After reading your symptoms he has the same ones even the excessive sweating. Avatar f tn If you have a cervical fusion at C4, 5, and 6 then this can cause the cervical spinal nerves to be compressed as they leave the spine to supply the various parts of the body like neck, chest, arms etc. Other than this the symptoms can be due to shingles. Another possibility is pancreatitis or duodenal ulcer.
Avatar f tn Hi, How are you? What other symptoms are present? While elevated liver function tests suggest injury to liver cells, these do not diagnose or confirm liver disease. Increased levels of ALT or AST may be due to issues such as cirrhosis, liver necrosis, hepatitis, lack of blood flow to the liver, medications that are toxic to the liver and even presence of mono and pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn Hello, Considering your symptoms and history, post cholecystectomy syndrome should be ruled out. This occurs primarily due to either the adhesions which are formed in the area of the surgery or due to the dysfunction of the sphincter of oddi. Secondly since your gall bladder is out, hence in post cholecystectomy patients, we always make a point to look out for pancreatic cause when a patient reports with pain on left or right side under rib pain.

ALSO DID THEY DO BLOOD WORK TO CHECK ON HER AMALYSE AND LIPASE ENZYME LEVELS. THAT WOULD ALSO INDICATE PANCREATITIS. GOOD LUCK.I AM ALSO GOING THROUGH THE DIAGNOSTIC TURMOIL.
Avatar n tn Ok, you can't stop this. Sorry!! You shouldn't ignore the symptoms of severe pain however. Your body is trying to tell you something and you need to listen!! See you PCP asap. I am thinking maybe ulcers, pancreatitis, refered gallbladder pain, intestinal issues, heart problems etc. Or it could just be a problem with the muscles in between your ribcage. See your PCP and let me know how your doing. Hope you feel better soon.

Avatar n tn An ERCP is good, too, but the patient needs to be aware that it is an invasive procedure and can actually cause a pancreatitis attack. The symptoms of CP are very similar to what you describe, some people have pain on the right where the head of the pancreas and main duct is, others in the middle or on the left, it just depends where the problem is. Back pain, nausea and vomiting often accompany this also. Too many people get misdiagnosed with IBS.
Avatar f tn There are various possibilities for paleness of stools like biliary diseases(obstruction, decreased synthesis, cholecystitis, gallstones, biliary cancer) , liver pathologies(like viral hepatitis, cirrhosis) , pancreatic disorders(pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer) , giardia parasitic infection, cystic fibrosis , celiac disease and topical sprue. Are you having any other associated symptom or sign? In my opinion, you should consult a gastroenterologist and get these possibilities ruled out one by one.
Avatar f tn Pain patterns shows that is present in abdomen at some time and then shifts to left testicle,so it needs attention of a doc who gives you a general abdominal physical examination. Lower abdomen pain that doesnot subside in no time has to be certainly referred to a doc.It can be due to abdominal distention, irritable bowel syndrome, pancreatitis, inguinal hernia, kidney stones,or just anxiety that caused pain in testicle as your husband was a bit nervous with his pain in abdomen.
