Pancreatitis symptoms electrolytes

Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis symptoms electrolytes

Avatar n tn I was only out of work for 2 weeks and during that time was somewhat out and about. Symptoms of a new illness presented in March, starting with a canker sore, and progressing to flu like symptoms. I noticed greenish/brown mucus and tooth pain and went to doctor for an anti-biotic (I think Bactrim). I took the antibiotic which seemed to clear up what I thought was a sinus infection but I still wasn't feeling better and my glands were very swollen (they still are too a degree).
Avatar m tn I'm wondering if her symptoms could be caused by an attack of Pancreatitis...? Inflammation of the Pancreas is very painful (i.e. her shaking) and most often causes vomiting. It is confirmed by blood tests showing elevated amylase and/or lipase levels, along with a new serum test called canine pancreatitis lipase immuninol reactivity and TAP (Trypsinogen Activation Peptide).
Avatar n tn I'm 25 years old, I have a blood disorder called monochylomicronemia, my trigs are like 8,000. It has caused me to have pancreatitis about 12 times, a decreased liver functions and an enlarged liver. I was very ill in Oct, I was on TPN, in ICU, had a necrosed area to my panceas. My heart was doing all kinds of crazy tachy arrythmias. 3 weeks later I went home and recovered, but when I first got out I had my period for like 2 weeks.
Avatar n tn I have had Acid Reflux controlled witrh PPI's for 4 yrs It began when my husband was dying.I spent 4 days in the hospital with electrolytes out of balance due to dehydration from uncontrollable diahrrea and vomiting; diagnosed as Acute Gastroenteritis. A year ago I began having intermittent bouts of vomiting bile every few months. Have been on all PPI's and Acid Reflux controlled pretty well but still have vomiting episodes. What's your recommendation?
Avatar n tn They did a sonogram and they did not see anything yesterday but when we talked to them today they told us that they are thinking that now its pancreatitis. Is this curable? I'm just hoping that he's strong enough to hold on. This is taking alot form me I love this litlle fellow to death. We have his mother and father and brothers and sisters. CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT ELSE WOULD BE CAUSING HIS SWOLLEN STOMACH. HE WENT FROM 4.5LBS TO 8LBS IN FLUID IN HIS STOMACH IN JUST 1WK.
Avatar m tn For this you need to take probiotics to replace these bacteria. Also, symptoms of IBS are usually triggered by an infection of the bowel, so the persisting diarrhea could be due to this. So, for now, drink plenty of oral fluids to replace the lost amounts in your stools, water, broths and soups as they help to replace the electrolytes. Take yogurt with your meals. Avoid caffeine, foods high in fiber and milk products. Slowly add soft well cooked food and if tolerated proceed to normal diet.
Avatar f tn These high levels indicate problems with your pancreas or pancreatitis. The symptoms you are having are all symptoms of a pancreas issue. I am suprised she did not admit you to the hospital with high levels. Eat a very lowfat diet with no smoking or alcohol . These things aggrevate your pancreas. Pancreatitis in a young adult is not very common so they are looking into what is causing it. A lot of times pancreatitis is caused by drinking excessively for a long time.
Avatar m tn Some of these things subsided slightly after a few days, but I began to crave sugar like you wouldn't believe, I feel like i need to eat more than I should (even though I feel nauseated) it's because my energy feels so low--- even after a full week of complete rest, my severe fatigue and nausea grow worse and I feel lightheaded and disconnected all the time. I feel extremely bad, main symptoms being severe fatigue, a knot in my upper stomach, nausea...
Avatar f tn If you really DO suspect pancreatitis, there are things you can do to try to ease the symptoms. According the the Mayo Clinic website - Stop drinking alcohol. If you're unable to stop drinking alcohol on your own, ask your doctor for help. Your doctor can refer you to local programs to help you stop drinking. Stop smoking. If you smoke, quit. If you don't smoke, don't start. If you can't quit on your own, ask your doctor for help. Medications and counseling can help you quit smoking.
Avatar m tn Also tell me something to control Chronic Pancreatits I shall be greatfull to you all My current medical reports are as under Creatinine 2.3, Blood Urea 51, Uric Acid 7.
Avatar m tn All other electrolytes K+ Mg++, phosphate are normal. My thyroid levels are normal. None of my docs seem to have a grasp of how severe I'm cramping. I have a high tolerance for pain, and if I go the Hospital, I'm in severe distress. My CK in the ER was 800. Now down to 250. Having gone through this before, I took aggresive steps to treat my symptoms to protect my kidneys. I'm not getting better even if my labs make it appear that I am.
Avatar f tn For instance, severe inflammation of organs inside the body such as acute pancreatitis can cause low blood pressure. In acute pancreatitis, fluid leaves the blood vessels to enter the inflamed tissues around the pancreas as well as the abdominal cavity, depleting the volume of blood. There can be kidney problems, etc.
Avatar m tn But, any ideas on what is going on with me? We're talking about chest pains that mimic the symptoms of a heart attack, but aren't heart-related; and nausea/vomiting/diarrhea which may or may not be related to the chest pains; and these symptoms are taking place even with a very bland diet.
Avatar f tn She is a terrier mixed breed, possibly wheaten terrier mix. Her symptoms started after she got into a 4x8 inch piece of rhubarb crisp dessert left on the counter. I had guests over and she doesn't jump on the counters, but while I went to work and the guests were outside the kitchen, she managed to pull down the pan and lick it clean. When I got home from work, she had thrown up the entire contents of the dessert and pooped a normal size/color/consistency stool.
2218396 tn?1339502007 I do have high cholesterol, interstitial cystitis due to a complete hysterectomy, pancreatitis which came as a side effect from an ERCP, and I had a mini stroke in March following a lumpectomy/biopsy (which was neg. thank god!) They also say I have menopausal depression, and I do suffer from anxiety disorder and ADD. I have had 36 surguries since I was 12 years old, and am at my wits end with my health. My Dr. will not put my on cholesterol meds because he says my body couldn't handle them.
Avatar f tn I had to yawn often and it was slightly difficult. Even before those symptoms I got uncomfort behind my eyes. These symptoms have lasted to January 2013 and appeared every now and then. At the beginning of January I had a slightly running nose. On January 6, I got atrial fibrillation. It is my third long-lasting AF. It will not go away without electric cardioversion.
Avatar n tn I am just wondering if anyone had any sugg. If I don't get this fixed with my extreme low level of electrolytes, it will be fatal.
Avatar f tn [1] Other tests often done are a full blood count, liver enzymes, bilirubin levels (usually grossly elevated), renal function, electrolytes. Fecal fat determination is occasionally ordered when the symptoms of malabsorption are prominent. The differential diagnosis can include primary biliary cirrhosis, drug induced cholestasis, cholangiocarcinoma, and HIV-associated cholangiopath." See: http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn I know Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a catch-all term these days but could that be part of the problem? Diet is so important when you have symptoms this serious, so keeping a diary of everything that goes into and comes out of your system might help to identify problems or patterns. Some links are at the end of this post. God bless, Godspeed and good luck! Sam http://www.
Avatar n tn He can keep water down most of the time but has thrown it up a few times. Other than these symptoms he is playful, seems ok. We gave him 1 tsp of pepto a few minutes ago but it hasn't been long enough to see if it worked. Is this something we should rush him to the vet tomorrow or is this pretty normal and should we give him 24 hours or so to recover on his own? Any other home remedies we can do to keep him comfortable? We are watching him for dehydration.
Avatar n tn She tested me and only found that I still had blood in my stool, but the other symptoms were gone. The blood and smell soon went away too. She told me then if it ever came back to go to the emergency room (by ambulance)because of the amount of blood and water loss. I am feeling better now,( a few hours have passed with no diarrhea) just with stomach cramps, but this scars me as to what it is. I haven't eaten anything I think could have made me sick, but I don't know.
990091 tn?1249200314 In 2007 my TSH levels were 68.07, with symptoms of severe muscle pain/cramps, fatigue, memory loss, black outs, severe swelling and weight gain (40 lbs.), and excessive body hair growth, all within the span of a month and a half.
Avatar n tn You have had a pretty comprehensive evaluation for your symptoms. One option would be to consider a HIDA scan with CCK stimulation. This can evaluate the gallbladder ejection fraction - low numbers can cause symptoms similar to gallbladder pain. Other options can include a 24-hr pH study with esophageal motility studies. Atypically, GERD and motility disorders can lead to such symptoms. Another consideration would be Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction - which can be evaluated via an ERCP.
Avatar n tn If you have diarrhea when fasting, I would be reluctant to attribute your symptoms to dumping syndrome. Similarly, the lack of symptoms everytime you eat and the severity of your symptoms when you are afflicted is unusual ffor dumping syndrome. I would suggest that your wife be evaluated specifically to determine the cause of your diarrhea. There are two general types of chronic diarrhea. People with osmotic diarrhea have diarrhea when they eat and normal`bowel function when they fast.
Avatar f tn Fatigue that is so extreme, BP that falls as low as 70/35 and causes me to pass out, recurring pancreatitis, headaches, permanent swollen glands in throat and axilla, itchy skin that rashes up at will, and a beautiful Mediterranean sun tan without the holiday. Nausea when eating, loss of hearing in one ear and blurry vision also add to the pot pourri of symptoms. I have had every specialty look at specific areas except Endocrinologist and Rheumatologist. ANA negative, Ca 19.
1469903 tn?1286650297 • high amounts of glucose in the urine, which leads to dehydration and causes increased thirst and water consumption; • weight loss despite an increase in appetite; • fatigue; • nausea; • vomiting; • bladder, skin, and vaginal infections; • blurred vision; and • lethargy What is diabetes? Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by high blood sugar (glucose) levels, that result from defects in insulin secretion, or action, or both.
Avatar m tn Did you have any issues with it? How were your symptoms? DId you have any problem with spleen? How long ago did you have this? Most people don't have a recurrence of mono later on, but it can happen. If you are not having any symptoms that does not mean you aren't having a reactivation of it, but not likely. I don't think that if you had it that long ago that it would still be affecting your enzymes, unless there is active infection or virus going on.
Avatar f tn However, I noted earlier in your post that your dog has suffered from pancreatitis - and excessive fat in the diet can induce bouts of pancreatitis, so it's something to keep an eye on. Eggs "can" also be a good addition to the diet of kd dogs ... BUT ... while egg white is rich in omega-3, the yolk is very high in phosphorous and omega-6. The best balancing rule to follow therefore is one egg yolk for every 3 egg whites. Eggs are also extremely high in good protein ...
Avatar f tn When I was released I had noticed my dog was losing weight, throwing up and not eating much, Didnt think anything of it as sometimes he may eat something doesnt agree and throw up. Its been a few days now and symptoms are worse, he has lost tremendous amt of weight, drinking lots of water and throwing up after-wards, has not ate anything or will take anything, nose is very dry and stuffed up and he is panting now.
147426 tn?1317269232 Your doctor wants to see if your symptoms repsond to steroids. If they do it indicates that your symptoms (or the ones that respond) are at least partly due to some inflammatory process. The kind of MS mimics that respond best to oral steroids would be the autoimmune diseases like Lupus, Sjogren's Syndrome, some other forms of arthritis. The mimics that are infections like HIV, syphillis, and Lyme disease will not repsond that well to steroids and may get worse.
