Oxycodone withdrawal duration

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycodone withdrawal duration

Avatar n tn Then it took about another 2 weeks to feel completely normal. Everyone is different. You probably will have a shorter duration and less intense withdrawal then I did. But everyone is different. Don't do suboxone or any other replacement. Everytime I tried those methods I went right back to dope. I would expect you to have about a 2-3 withdrawal with aches and pains, insomnia, minor stomach issues, and some sneezing and sinus issues. Trust me, you'll be so much happier once you're off the dope.
Avatar n tn Acute withdrawal from opiates generally lasts 4-14 days, unless you're wd from methadone which can take weeks, alcohol can take up to 30 days, benzos are generally 10-14 days. These are very general estimations, and everyone is different on how wds affect them and how long they last. It's harder to estimate when wds start - opiates can be 4-24 hours after last use, alcohol can be 12-24 hours after last drink, benzos can be 6-24 hours after last use.
Avatar m tn I quit exercising. Something i plan on jumping right back into as soon as these withdrawal affects are gone. that made me feel accomplished at the end of the day and the gym was my place for motivation. that for me including this forum could be the sole reason i don't have any relapse issues. thanks!
Avatar f tn You only used for 2 months but it was a fairly high dose. If you are young, this shouldn't go on much longer. I'm over 50, used 40 mgs of oxycodone a day (prescribed for severe back issues) and this is taking a long time for me. BUT. I took the oxy for EIGHT years. I'm on day 25. I am slowly getting better with some days good, and some days not so good. You'll be turning a corner soon...the biggest danger is relapsing. Don't get on this merry-go-round again..Good luck!
Avatar n tn My question, is it better to reduce the dosage quickly (say over 6 days) and endure the sterss of all the withdrawal symptoms and be back to normal sooner or to do a slow letdown and minimize the withdrawal symptoms? Also any estimates of how long the slow method could take?
Avatar n tn could I die from withdrawal? I guess I need to know if I can do this on my own. I am ready to stop. That I am sure of. I am just scared of the W/D symptoms. I have a wife (and 2 small kids)but I do not want her to know what has happened. I guess it boils down to one question: Should I see my doctor or can I get through this on my own? I just want to do what is best for my health. I am sorry for taking up your time but if you have any advice I would love to hear it. God Bless all of you!
Avatar m tn My drug of choice was oxycodone 30mg tablets. I never used too much over a month period. I have not used in 30 hours and feel normal. Nothing has been that bad. Can I assume that I will be okay? or could I take an aweful turn in wd symptoms? I would just like to know so I can prepare. I know you need to know how much and for how long (one to two 30mg tablets a day for about three weeks or so.) I typically have taken a day of two off a week.
954005 tn?1304630205 I also have to be careful for new infections since I am open still--only about a third of the incision though! I have been on percocet and then oxycontin for the duration (started at time of fall...increased over time), and now I am taking 2-40mg Oxycontins and have been taking like 10-12 percocets also! and no real pain relief... I do not even feel the side effects anymore, and I feel like I am taking them to avoid withdrawals.
Avatar n tn I pray everyday and everynight for strength, please feel free about any information of the duration of withdrawal and any information would be great, or personal experiences. I AM JUST SOO PROUD OF MYSELF KNOWING THAT I AM ALMOST TO DAY 4 AND FEEL SOO MUCH BETTER ALREADY, I BELIEVE ANYONE WHO MAKES IT TO DAY 3 WILL FEEL HOW I FEEL> GREAT AND COMMITTED TO NOT GO BACK BECAUSE THEY"VE MADE IT THIS FAR< WHY MESS UP NOW. LOVE YOU ALL!
Avatar f tn To make a long story short, I am addicted to oxycodone. This is terrible and not really even sure how things got to the point to where they are today. I used to be a first grade teacher and a now a stay at home mom to a 1 year old and almost 4 year old. I want off these stupid life controlling pills. I was taking probably 18 30mg pills a day (I didn't count for a long time....would just pop them like candy. Very stupid).
Avatar f tn At home I went into withdrawals and so initially took 5mg of oxycodone and 2hrs later withdrawals would start and then the 5mg of oxycodone would not do anything. So the 28.4 I saw dr who changed meds to 60mg of OxyContin bd with oxycodone for breakthrough. Finally I was 'ok'. Then on the 29.4 7 days since last methadone dose I was again admitted with gyno problem in a larger town. On the referral was the dr initials dosing before increasing. I went into withdrawal.
Avatar f tn basically my point being is i had more pain and discomfort coming of benzo's than opiates so increasing your dose of benzo's when going through opiate withdrawals is ok if you are staying on them till at least you are withdrawal free from opiates and stable but i woudnt recommend it ! opiate withdrawal is very unplesent but it can be controlled using weaker opiates easier than with benzodiazipine withdrawals !
Avatar n tn so it's really a no-choice situation... but for him to say he's had NO patients that complained of withdrawal symptoms after tapering off zoloft even in the correct time frame its supposed to be done? That is a downright lie. Everyone I ever spoke to who took it, had a terrible time getting off of it! And the idea that your doctor wants you to get your system "clean" before starting a new drug is total BS. You can start something right away. My guess is you need to change doctors..
Avatar f tn I quit cold turkey about two and a half days ago bracing myself for the withdrawal symptoms! I had insomnia the past two nights but still slept about four hours each night. I had diarrhea yesterday morning. Yesterday I had a good feeling all day, very excited about finally quitting. Today I am a little lethargic and feel like I want to sleep all day but am trying to stay up so that I will sleep tonight.
Avatar f tn I believe the overall dosage determines the severity, but the duration is pretty much the same. 5. I still had withdrawal but it was manageable. Perhaps the pain clinic will help you with what you need for the detox. I know my doctor thought I could escape wd all together by tapering and she was wrong. I would hope a pain clinic would know better! 6. After time your pain will get worse or feel differnt while on opiates.
Avatar m tn I have been off the buprenorphine for 8 days but I am maintaining at 40mg of oxycodone. I do have a doctor and I'm going to quit the oxycodone in a few hours. I don't smoke or drink and I eat fairly healthy. My current pain level is very low so I want to attempt to become drug free.
Avatar n tn I'm having withdrawal symptoms I didn't expect. Light headedness, the runs, blood pressure going up, and general fatigue. Lots of fatigue. And some irritability. I am hoping that these symptoms begin to decrease soon. Well, they have gotten better than it was in the first 2 days. I am still wondering how long I can expect to have these side effects of withdrawal?
Avatar m tn I've been an abuser of oxycodone 30mg pills for about 2 years. I switched to suboxone for the last 6 months. I was on about 1mg a day, sometimes a little more, maybe up to 2mg on some days. Well, I finally decided that I don't want to be a slave to a drug anymore. I want my life back. I used to be a motivated, successful person. Since I started the opiates, I've lost my job, lost my motivation, isolated myself from my friends, and spent most of the money I had saved up.
Avatar n tn Kind of harsh - not my business I guess. Wouldn't the starting dose be dependent on what you're on? I mean it somebody's doing a gram of IV heroin every 4 hours and goes on methadone, they're going to start on a pretty high dose of methadone I would think. Anyway, I think treating a percocet addiction with methadone was huge overkill to begin with. My advice would be to stick on the suboxone since that helped with the methadone withdrawals, then taper taper taper, and finally wean off of it.
Avatar m tn but how long after subs would it be ok to take for one day because one day not feeling right mentally will be great and I don't plan on taking it every day just once if I was gonna keep taking I wouldn't have quit. because sub withdrawal is way worse then oxycodone withdrawal without a doubt. and I would not advise anyone to cold turkey quit subs if you do quit just quit the oxycodone I have done that and was only 4 days compared to the duration of sub withdrawal. but can anyone answer my ?
Avatar n tn So I continued for the duration of 30 minutes (the pressure/pain started about 3-4 minutes into it)... And my facets are very close together and my flavum has pressure on it and L5-S1 are fusing (via doctor MRI). So I woke up today in intolerable pain, It hurt so bad... so I opted not to take the opiates for several hours, but I finally gave in (I tooke 15mg of oxycodone) and I feel great the pain is gone, and I feel more euphoria than I did before I quit on 15mg.

Avatar m tn Can long term sub users who have gone through withdrawal please help me? I was always told the withdrawal would be very mild, and this is a miracle drug. I will say, my life and habits have changed. I have no desire to use any pills at the moment, and I don't expect that to change. I was abusing hydros after 2 shoulder surgeries. Counseling and support from friends and family (who I was deathly afraid to talk to) has been amazing.
Avatar m tn I haven't done anything illegal to get the pills, but I dont want to get to that point either. How do I make the withdrawal more tolerable? I have legal access to Klonopin, and some muscle relaxers. I want to be a normal person without an infatuation with stupid pills. They have ruined my social life, work and really havent done anything good besides take away my back pain. I have been to NA meetings and did not feel comfortable or get anything from them.
Avatar n tn 5 mg of hydromorphone (Dilaudid) is the analgesic equivalent of 20 mg of oxycodone. The half life of a painkiller has a direct impact on the onset and duration of withdrawal symptoms. For example, the half-life of morphine is 2 to 3 hours, and acute withdrawal is over in a few days with post-acute withdrawal lasting several more weeks.
797052 tn?1240514994 Methadone binds to brain proteins and leaves the brain slowly, causing a longer, less intense withdrawal than oxycodone, which leaves the brain more quickly. But the total amount of misery eis the same either way-- shorter duration and more intense vs longer duration, a bit less intense. The main issue though is not getting through withdrawal, but staying off opiates long term. In early addiction (i.e.
