2178523 tn?1337618945 I stopped the patch cold turkey about 6 days ago and am slowly tapering down my oxycodone usage. I am also prescribed 4 mg of Xanax a day, which I am also trying to taper down. I was in a really bad car accident about 5 years ago and have had a total disc replacement at the L5-S1 level as well as a neurostimulator implanted. Unfortunately when the implanted the stimulator they put the paddle a little too far to the left, so I get no stimulation on the right side.
Avatar f tn Yeah, you need to taper it. It sounds like you do have an issue with it. You don't take it every single day, right? So maybe take one every three days and so on? I definitely wouldn't wanna see anyone have a xanax addiction or xanax withdrawal without tapering. That is not safe! You should really see a doc, get your own prescription and taper them properly. Don't ask her for any more meds no matter if she calls you or not, if you are serious about being drug free?

Avatar f tn I am in the thick of withdrawal and just wondered if anyone has been in my place and how long before any small signs of turning the corner. I know this will take a long time, but any small piece of help would be appreciated. I feel my body is in a living Hell. Anyone out there?
Avatar f tn I am currently Methadone 2.5mg q12h & Oxycodone 15mg tid prn for pain management and Klonopin 2mg qd for Anxiety, along with two other non narcotic pain relievers (SSRIs & SSRNIs). I can tell you from research and experience that Methadone is sometimes prescribed along with moderate dosages of Oxycodone as an alternative to increasing the dosage of Oxycodone. Methadone acts as a potentiator, increasing the efficacy of the Oxycodone due to increased tolerance.
Avatar m tn I am aready on 60mg of oxycodone a day for back pain. I began taking a .25mg Xanax each night for a little over 2 months. A lot of the times I would split the pill and only take half. This would relax me and allow me to fall to sleep. Around the first of May I had a panic attack. I took half a xanax and later the attack eased. The next day I had several more attacks and then went on to have high anxiety and panic attacks for almost a week.
Avatar m tn 13 days ago I stopped taking 180 mg of oxycodone and started take 30 mg of methadone which i tappered down to 5 mg. I took my last dose 39 hours ago. My fiance just left me 5 days ago and I am severly depressed can i take xanax?
Avatar n tn I have had several surgeries in the past two years and as such, have been on some pain medications - namely oxycodone and percocet (which I understand is a combination of oxycodone and tylenol?) The last time I was at my rehabilitation physician's office, she thought it was time that we "wean" me off of those things and she wrote a script for Vicodin. I have tried it, but I really don't care for it.....
1646102 tn?1301175214 Benzos like Xanax have also been linked to miscarriage, although only when taken in the first trimester. If you get used to Xanax, though, you cannot stop it abruptly, as THAT withdrawal CAN be dangerous—causing seizures and worse. You are now in a good position to start buprenorphine, after going through several days of withdrawal; it would relieve your withdrawal within an hour, and you would typically stay on it until after delivery—and then decide whether to stop it or continue it.
3655415 tn?1352837277 seizures are not common during opiate withdrawal. were you using any xanax, alcohol or barbituates? seizures are symptoms of withdrawal from any of these.do you have any underlying epilepsy? do you see the doctor and discuss the seizures with him? are you still using the oxys now?

Avatar f tn Good for you on wanting to quit!! You did all the right things by coming clean and being honest and it seems like you know how to handle your withdrawal symptoms. The only thing I disagree with is the Xanax I don't think taking even one of those is good. I was never a benzo user but after my first detox the doctor gave me klonodin and Xanax. I started abusing those immediately because I wanted to get high anyway I could.
Avatar f tn I have been on Oxycodone 30 mg 6 pills a day for 8 months. I want to go off of it but I don't know how to do it safely. I get so anxious when i miss a pill and start to sweat. I am not working right now so my pain seems to be there all the time. What do I do? If I go off it cold turkey what should I expect? If I should taper the doses how do I do that most effectively? Please help me.
Avatar n tn I was on OpanaER and Morphine tabs. I took this to withdrawl off Oxycodone 90mgs evry 4hrs and Dilaude 16 mg evry 4hrs. I took them for 1 week. I cried, screamed and I was so emotional. Now I'm getting off the opana and morphine. I got cloidine, Xanax, something for my stomach, Soma for the spasms in ur muscle, and something for sleep. So far so good. You can feel the withdrawls even with the opana and morphine but not as bad. I was just so tired of depending on something in the morning. .
Avatar f tn Started on methadone in 94 for pain. I went cold turkey off 30 mg in 97 (a hell I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy). Started again in 2000 after original injury required another half dz surgeries. Was @ 140 mg until 2011, when somehow I was able to taper to 40 mg in aprox 6 wks. Still have no idea how I accomplished that so quickly & painlessly. At that point my Dr. Said there was no reason for me to push myself any further & to stay @ 40.
Avatar f tn I tapered down over 6 weeks per doctors instruction and thought I was ok with just Norco 2x/ day and Xanax at night time. But about a week after I stopped all methadone, I am a mess. Extreme pain, shakiness and restless legs, hot flashes immediately followed by chills. Extreme anxiety, tears and inability to be still. So sleep is impossible unless I double the Norco and Xanax which I hate doing because I don't want to substitute one dependence with another.
Avatar m tn Librium? I didn't know that Librium was used as an aid to get off of narcotics. Valium would only exacerbate his current situation, as valium is a bit stronger and longer lasting than Xanax, and also a benzodiazepine. That would be like taking ocycontin to get off of oxycodone. I think it would defeat the purpose and he'd have a new drug of choice to deal with.
Avatar f tn Fake moods, like the anxiety created by Xanax withdrawal, it suppresses anxiety, so withdrawal creates anxiety. Painkillers kill pain, a major symptom of withdrawal is pain. "Opiate Induced Hyperalgesia," they even have a word for it. Whatever a drug "helps" you with, it intensifies the original symptoms we took it for, if the cause of symptoms(anxiety), has not been corrected. So try to remember it's the detox causing it.
Avatar f tn If you're a fool then you're in good company here!!! There's a bit of a difference in withdrawal symptons between Xanax and oxycodone. But, I don't believe one is more or less than the other. They both have their problems. If you taper slowly, you'll feel much better during the process.
Avatar m tn If he was taking his whole script in a couple days, that's a big amount to withdraw from. He will probably feel that way at least a week. The more you were taking, the worse the withdrawal will be (in my opinion). His body is trying to rid itself of the poisons and that is what he is going through now. Get lots of fluids (I know he may not want to drink anything) water and gatorade to put back some good stuff and get vitamins in him because I know he cannot eat yet.
Avatar f tn I was addicted to oxycodone/oxycontin/fentanyl for about a year before I decided that I was totally out of control and needed to stop. I hold a very demanding job that requires weekly traveling and the thought of taking the time for inpatient rehab was just not acceptable. I heard of Suboxone and decided to take that route. I took 16mg 2xday for about 8 months. I didn't like the way it made me feel, although I no longer craved opiods.
Avatar m tn Ive been taking xanax for two months now. And he wants me to take lorazepam 1mg intead of the xanax. Will I get withdrawal symptoms of the xanax? Thanx....
