Common Questions and Answers about Oxycodone withdrawal forum

oxycontin

Avatar m tn I'm just short of 60 hours since my last dose of oxycodone. I have no withdrawal symptoms at all -- none. I even slept fairly well last night w/o any sleep aids (except melatonin, an over-the-counter supplement which I have been taking for years). For those who don't know my history, I was on oxycodone for about 3 months. The first two were fairly low dosages (10-20 mg/day) to help me deal with significant sciatic pain caused by a synovial cyst in my lumbar spine.
Avatar m tn has anyone used over the counter codeine during withdrawal from oxycodone? Does it work or does it only prolong the withdrawal process.
Avatar m tn Hello Rocketmentor, Please don't think that I am insinuating you are having a substance issue....but I suggest that you post your question in the Substance Abuse Forum. I suggest this ONLY because they have much more experience with withdrawal and medications in this matter. I am not sure which one is more difficult to withdrawal from...as I think all our systems are a bit different. Here's the link: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn I take 20 mg of oxycontin morning and night. I use oxycodone twice a day 5/325. I have chronic pain. Severe arthritis, fibromyalgia, senior citizen, unemployed. I am ready to stop taking oxycontin. I've used them for about a year and a half. I had exhaustion and left my job. I've had two knee replacements. I am ready to return to the workforce. I hope half-time. Money is an issue and my husband is ill with Alzheimer's. He is in LTC at this time.
Avatar n tn I have been taking hydrocodone for about 3 years and for the last year have been taking Oxycodone. I really want to stop, but when I don't take the oxy, I get the sweats and chills and my body hurts so bad. I take about 160mg a day. My question is, are these symptoms of withdrawl? and How long will this last?
221913 tn?1372276661 You will find lots of support as well as how to make withdrawal more tolerable on the substance abuse forum. And lots of the people on that forum started taking pain pills for legiimate pain.
Avatar m tn they understand and they can help you to get off of them. The doctor can give you some meds to help with your withdrawal symptoms. Good luck and we are all here to help and to talk to...
1778305 tn?1314483931 t the right forum...as everyone is working so hard to get off the meds. I posted on the pregnancy forum, but honestly feel like I would get the best real life advise here. Thank you for reaching out. It means alot to me.
Avatar n tn I have had several surgeries in the past two years and as such, have been on some pain medications - namely oxycodone and percocet (which I understand is a combination of oxycodone and tylenol?) The last time I was at my rehabilitation physician's office, she thought it was time that we "wean" me off of those things and she wrote a script for Vicodin. I have tried it, but I really don't care for it.....
Avatar n tn Ok, I am just into day 2 of quitting ocycodone cold turkey. My doctor decided this was the best way to do it as opposed to weaning. I have to say he was right. this is hell. He pout me on 30mg of cymbalta to help ease the anxiety which seems to be helping however tyhe nausea is really bad. I cant eat, sleep or really do much of anything.
Avatar m tn Was just curious. Do withdrawal symptoms differ depending on what type of opiates ones using? I meen I'm taking perc. 30's will my withdrawals be different from let's say if I was gonna withdrawal from morphine? Or is a withdrawal a withdrawal? I hope that makes sense! I'm just trying to figure out what I'm in for. I've went through withdrawals from large amounts of vicodin E/S, and ofcourse that was miserable.. Recently I've been doing alot of the perc.
Avatar m tn Why would you want to go back on oxycodone? This forum is for folks trying to get OFF these drugs. I'm confused.
Avatar m tn I seem to get through the day all right aking just 2 or 3 10mg oxycodone but when I first get up I feel awful and still have to take 2 pills to get going. Even with this withdrawal-ease stuff which does help during the day cause I havent been down to 4 or 5 10mg oxycodone in 3 or 4 years but still doesnt help in morning. Anyone know why that is.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed oxycodone 15mg after dental surgery, only 7 pills. if I take them as prescribed 1 per day, should I expect to feel physical withdrawal effects after the week is over? I have no previous addictions but I have a family history and I'm scared.
1757846 tn?1312748449 ve only had one brief experience with oxy withdrawal, which scared the crap out of me, as I never experienced much withdrawal from the fentynol, and not much to speak of from the morphine pills either. I know that just stopping oxy is out of the question, it will most certainly kill me with my bad heart and all. After just 15 hrs away from oxy, The intestinal "awakening", chills/sweats, the inability for my body to control its own temperature, heart rate etc.
10178628 tn?1408331209 On oxycodone for over 7yrs and within the past year not getting adequate pain relief. My pain management Dr doesn't believe in tolerance and can't afford to change drs. So lost, any suggestions or literature out there to prove tolerance exsists?
Avatar f tn Hi I have a question I was on oxycodone 15 mg for 3 weeks stop taking them had mild withdrawal had to go back on them for 8 days after I had a back procedure would eyes go through withdrawal again
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I have posted here just a couple times, so most of you don't really know me well. I am on 51 mgs of methadone that I started using 7 years ago when I had pain, osteonecrosis in my jawbone, the pain was unbearable and I had no break in pain whatsoever.
Avatar f tn 5 s a day when I crushed my ribs in 2001 and found it took care of the fibro pain - and the back pain I was having after a day of physical work. My Dr switched me to Oxycodone after an epidural - it's a terrible depressing feeling drug for me. He won't go back to Norco. Do you think I am having withdrawals from taking 3 tabs 10/325 (I only took a few oxycodone) for 5 years or this is fibro. Without the Norco I am always fatigued, achy, and confused feeling.
Avatar f tn I commented on your post on the SA forum before I saw this. I have a long history in pain management and found the withdrawals for me lingered because I tapered. As long as you're taking the Vicodin, you could experience some kinds of withdrawal. For sleep, Alteril is an all-natural product that works great. Melatonin works for some as well. For the leg cramping, try high potassium foods like bananas or potatoes. You can also try Hylands' Restful Legs.
