Avatar f tn Most MRIs of the abdomen also shoot images of the pelvic area, and if they did, then it would have shown ovarian cysts if they were there at the time of the MRI. However the best test for diagnosis is an ultrasound. So as your gynecologist has advised you can get a repeat ultrasound done. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
10123610 tn?1408029225 If you really want the fibroids removed, a surgeon with myomectomy skills (for large fibroids) or hysteroscopic resection of fibroids (for small fibroids) can remove the fibroids leaving your uterus intact. The problem is that with hysterectomy so overused, it can be difficult finding a surgeon who uses organ-sparing procedures. There is also a study that shows that a long-term side effect of ablation is chronic, debilitating pelvic pain. This is part of a "post ablation syndrome.
Avatar n tn in the Gynecology specialty seems to be to remove organ(s) so it can be a challenge to find a surgeon whose practice is centered on sparing our organs. But neither ovarian cysts nor fibroids require organ removal IF you have an ethical surgeon with the right skills such as cystectomy and myomectomy. If your fibroids are small, they can usually be removed with a hysteroscopic procedure that is less invasive than myomectomy. Dr.
Avatar n tn sorry it occurs to me that I chose words poorly in my message. I am so new to all of this that I put any diagnosis - cancer, cysts, fibroids, etc - in the "important" category. They are all the same to me at this point. Is there something there or is this "just another test?" sometimes it seems I am auditioning for the next season premier of "medical mysteries" on cable tv.
Avatar n tn I had ovarian cysts and fibroids and got pregnant...actually I was scheduled to have the cysts removed and found out I was pregnant before I even removed them...I would check with your doctor and just make sure what kind of cysts you are dealing with,,also have your doctor give you a transvaginal ultrasound to determine what is going on..Good Luck..

Avatar n tn How large is the ovarian cyst? Ovarian cysts that are 5cm or greater, and are complex (like yours with a solid element) are usually treated with surgery. They have a greater chance of being malignant than smaller, simple cysts. Sometimes, doctors watch and wait smaller cysts and sometimes they choose to operate. Still, most cysts (even larger and complex ones) turn out to be benign.
Avatar n tn Another possibility to look at would be your appendix, unless you have already gotten it out. Fibroids and ovarian cysts can cause a lot of pain. I would talk to your doctor about your concerns, but it does sound like it is the fibroid and cysts.
Avatar n tn Oh.....fibroids are not ovarian cysts. Those are associated with the uterus, not the ovaries. That is why I responded the way I did. Sorry for the confusion. It sounds like the doctor just wants to get more images. Fibroids can eventually lead to hysterectomy if they get bad (not always) but have to be monitored since a woman can have them for years. They are supposed to decrease in size following menopause and I suppose the doctor is hoping for that to occur.
Avatar f tn m sorry momma. I have cysts and 2 fibroids. I get more pain from the cysts then fibroids though. I was debating a vbaC but I had.one doctor say I couldn't bc of my fibroid placement and another said it wouldn't be a problem. Just curious how far are you and did they say anything about having to have a c section bc of the fibroids?
Avatar m tn I have a history of complex ovarian cysts and fibroids. Had a benign cyst removed in 1990 and CA 125 was in the single digits. Continue with cysts and fibroids which have been monitored with TV ultrasound - they remained stable so no concern. CA 125 in 2003 was 7. Now about a month ago I had lumpectomy for stage 1 breast cancer - no node involvement. Plan to start radiation soon. Had my cysts checked and new CA125 is 56! Is there a good chance I now have ovarian cancer?
Avatar f tn s), colitis, kidney stones, kidney infection, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cyst, ovarian torsion, ectopic pregnancy, pelvic inflammatory disease, hernia, and/or cancer. You should see your doctor, as proper diagnosis depends upon clinical history, physical examination, and laboratory and/or imaging tests.
Avatar n tn Both ovarian cysts and fibroids effect fertility. My friend had her fibroids removed with a minimally invasive surgical procedure and got pregnant first try afterwards. I have pcos so I'm a little cyst maker! Some of them will go away with a month or two of birth control while others are larger and need to be removed with a minimally invasive surgery. I have had two removed surgically in 1997 and 2007. All my other ones I was able to get rid of with Bcp.
Avatar n tn As a generalization, I would say that you have fibroids and cysts on your ovaries. Common things being common, fibroids, which are benign muscle growths of the wall of the uterus, can give you pain and heavy bleeding. Ovarian cysts can be related to ovulation, or benign growths, endometriosis and so on. To sort that out, usually repeat scans are obtained over 3 to 6 months to see dynamically how the cysts come and go.
1832630 tn?1318056776 3/ Sub mucosal fibroid 4/Lt ovary contains Anechoic cysts/follicles This is my MRI 4 weeks ago The uterus is anteverted and anteflexed with multiple cervical nabothian cysts and a few subtle low signal areas within the myometrium which may represent the fibroids noted on the previous ultrasounds. Endometrial thickness is about 2 mm. There is a multiseptated cystic mass in the right adnexa, the largest cystic component measures 5.8 x 5.5 cm which extends into the right iliac fossa.
Avatar f tn posts about their complications with ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids but no one seems to experience the exact same thing im experiencing and I really wanna get to the bottom of it. I'm 19 and discovered i had fibroids when i was 16. it didnt really effect me and didnt give me any complications until december of 2015 (when i was 18). i started the birth control: nexplanon (the one they insert in ur arm), in september of 2014, and i didnt bleed/have my period up until dec. 2015.
Avatar n tn In addition it stated that my right ovary has a 1 cm cystic structure arising from the anterior pole, likely an ovarian cyst vs follicle. I also just found out I have scant hematuria and am about to see a urologist for a cystoscope. Both the GI and urologist think I should get a obgyn exam as the pain in my right side may be a gynocologic issue.
Avatar m tn That being said, fibroids are common and usually require no intervention. The same for ovarian cysts. However, ovarian cysts usually go away within 3 cycles / months. So another ultrasound in a couple of months or so would be the typical plan. But your doctor should be communicating with you.
Avatar m tn Breast cysts are usually easily defined by mammogram or ultrasound. Ovarian cysts are not related to breast cysts or to cysts in any other part of the body. Regards ....
576095 tn?1217493479 If you have any questions relating to ovarian cysts there is a very good forum where you will find a lot of information and some very nice ladies with experience of cysts who will try to help you .
Avatar m tn As the other poster said, larger ovarian cysts can cause urinary urgency. So can large uterine fibroids. Most cysts go away on their own within 2 or 3 cycles so I would not worry much unless your symptoms worsen especially if you start having pain which could be a sign of the cyst rupturing, leaking, or twisting the ovary. Since most cysts resolve on there own, there should not be any impact on fertility.
Avatar f tn That's the only thing I found although I'm not sure that a polyp is the same thing as a cyst... I don't think fibroids is considered cysts though. But I can't really find anything on cysts.. Can they not give you meds to make the cysts go away? I know I had cysts there once and took meds to get rid of them.
Avatar f tn Hello, Uterine fibroids may be blocking the view but from the ultrasound also, right ovary is showing a complex cyst. Complex ovarian cysts are generally benign. The risk of malignancy is generally higher among postmenopausal women. Get a MRI done to evaluate further. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
