Avatar f tn If you have these cysts on both ovaries, that is another indication that it is PCOS. Ovarian cancer does not typically present in both ovaries simultaneously.
Avatar m tn I'm sorry but I have not heard of this. Do you have ovarian cancer? You might ask this question on the ovarian cancer site. They may have more information for you. Sorry I wasn't any help.
Avatar f tn Heartburn is about 3-5 times a week with normal foods - this is fairly new in the last few months. There is more...but they are all symptoms of ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. In January, I stayed home from work one day not feeling well and I watched Dr. Oz. There was a woman on there that had been treated for UTIs, Acid Reflux, IBS, and some of them repeatedly. But something about that spoke to me.

Avatar f tn A couple of things to remember, GYN/Oncologists treat many benign conditions, they are experts with 3 years additional training, also, they do not spend a big chunk of their time on obstetrics. Ovarian Cancer is a very rare disease. Most ovarian cysts are benign. Ovarian cancer can only be diagnosed through a biopsy. The best thing to do is try to relax, and wait for the answers before panicing or even before researching....
Avatar n tn The heavy mensus could be the cause of the anemia. It's not uncommon to be anemic during the reproductive years. It's quite possible a cyst is present. That can also affect the mensus. Don't go thinking about ovarian cancer so quickly. Cysts are the much more common problem for women. Or it could be a hemmorahgic cyst (bleeding). Most of the time they are harmless and remedy themselves, but on rarer occasions they bleed too much and need removal.
Avatar f tn The good news is that often the worst case scenario is that some kind of surgery may be required to remove what does not belong there. Rarely is it cancer. Benign cysts can also make us ill to the point we think we have a fatal illness, but take comfort in the fact that this is rarely the case.
Avatar f tn If you are less than 50 with no family history of ovarian cancer, breast, colon or prostate cancer, I suggest you can be reassured that your chances of cancer are very less. Good luck and please keep me posted.
Avatar m tn s or earlier then you have less than a 2% ovarian cancer over a life time. 98% of ovarian cysts are benign cysts can be the size of grapefruits. I was surprised that an ultra sound could show ovarian cancer but it can. Mine showed cancer. I had an ultrasound on Thursday. The doctor called me Monday and told me I had a mass. I saw the Oncologist on the next day and was in surgery in three days. You probably all ready know this but it is good to go to a GYN/Oncologist.
Avatar f tn Could my recurrence of Ovarian cancer be attributed to my taking Evista for a year? I had ovarian cancer 15 years ago and after surgery and chemo, and a "second look" surgery with multiple biopsies was considered cured.I had a complete hysterectomy and the cancer seemed to be contained in my left ovary. Last winter I found a lump in my left groin which was biopsied and diagnosed as ovarian malignancy.
Avatar m tn MOST ovarian cysts, etc are benign, well over 95 percent of them. Ovarian cancer is a pretty rare disease. The wait until Dec 4th to see a GYN/Oncologist is not that long, and if GYN/Oncologist feels after reviewing your records that it is an emergency for you to be seen, they would get you into the office earlier. Wait times also vary depending on your location and the number of GYN/Oncologists in the area. The cysts/masses you have are pretty small.
Avatar m tn s as a guide to determine if you have the most common form of ovarian cancer, approximately 80% of all ovarian cancers are epitheal ovarian cancer which is cancer of the cells on the surface of your ovary. Please keep in mind that CA-125 can be elevated if your menstruating and some other cuases of inflamation.. There are other types of ovarian cancer that are hormone driven and depending which form a person has there will be excess symptoms of that specific hormone.
Avatar n tn Most ovarian cysts are benign and resolve on their own. Hopefully by now you have more info from the other images. What more did you find out?
Avatar n tn Most ovarian cysts and masses are benign, even suspicious looking ones. If you do not have a family history or predisposition for ovarian cancer then your lifetime risk is less than 2%. And yes, the CA125 test is not accurate at diagnosing ovarian cancer. Benign (non-cancerous) conditions can cause an elevated result. A friend of mine had a CA125 level over 1000 (VERY HIGH) when she had a benign cyst. She unnecessarily lost not only her ovary but also her uterus and other ovary.
Avatar n tn My cyst contains only liquid (the doctor saw it at the ultrasound) and I am 22 years old.If someone has ovarian cancer the ca125 level is regular?Thank you!
Avatar f tn I feel like I am 4 months pregnant. Is this normal for cysts? ovarian cancer? I have been pregnant 6 times and had 3 live births and 3 miscarriages (spontaneous). I guess my question to you is whether you think it is likely cancer or a benign cyst? What does the irregular edges and color mean? Will they do a biopsy on the cysts or just surgery? How soon do you think he will want to do the surgery once I see him? Will it be okay to wait or should it be immediate? Thank you!
Avatar f tn 4% chance of ovarian cancer. It is lower if you are under 50. Also it is rare to have ovarian cancer in both ovaries. It happens but it is rare. I had both ovaries but I have the BRCA mutation and I had cancer in 14 places. They could see the cancer on the ultrasound. Over 98% of ovarian cysts are benign. What does your doctor say. You could have Polycystic Ovary syndrome which is not cancerous.
Avatar f tn If it were on both ovaries it would have spread more and be clear on the ultrasound that it was cancer. 98.6% of cysts are not cancer. A normal woman has a 1.4% chance of ovarian cancer in a life time. It is lower if you are younger. If you had the BRCA gene, women in your family with early ovarian cancer the chances are 20%. If your Gyn is doing a cystectomy that is great. Many take your ovaries which is not good. It is easier to take the ovary out.
534546 tn?1225027975 As one who has Ovarian Cancer, the only way to tell is a biopsy .. it rules cancer in or out. Dr. Goodman did give the proper sequence of events. Find a Gyn/Oncologist. They have the most experience dealing with Ovarian issues/masses. Then the MD will suggest either a laparoscopy to "see" what is there or full surgery and hysterectomy (which is what I had). Once the tumor(s) are biopsied, you will have your diagnosis. Hopefully and prayerfully, everything will be benign.
Avatar f tn thank you.regards....
254714 tn?1316613355 i had done in Dec 2009 bilateral ocarian cysts areidentified once again. the right ovarian cyst appears complex vs two adjacent cysts with a combined cystic structure measuring 3.3*5.6*3.3 cm representing an interval increase in size greatest dimension of 4.2cm on 10/29/09 no color doppler blood flow is demonstrated nor nodularity internally. overall the right ovary measure 3.1*6.5*4.0 cm the left ovary is also slighty enlarged measuring 3.4*5.2*4.
3100626 tn?1341387176 Could this pain be cysts. In so much pain really getting scared my mom died.
Avatar f tn Unless you have the BRCA mutation you have a 1.4 % of ovarian cancer in a life time. 98% of all ovarian cysts are benign. Most women have several benign ovarian cysts in a life time. Uterine cancer and ovarian are not related which is weird. It is good they are checking. It may all turn out to be benign endometriosis. In the old days if you were past child bearing years they would do a hysterectomy. Now they know how important ovaries are to a woman's over all health and do not take them.
Avatar n tn What is the difference between ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. I haven't had a period for 3 months now and I have a sharp pain in my lower right side, as well as back pain, especially in the mornings. once in a while i am off balance when walking. i am bloated, and a lot of times i don't have an appetite.
Avatar n tn Although it’s not known for sure whether benign ovarian cysts or polycystic ovaries develop into ovarian cancer, the vast majority of ovarian cysts appear to be unrelated. Women who have polycystic ovaries or ovarian cancer seldom have obvious symptoms early on. However, in both disorders, symptoms are noticed as the condition progresses. Because the ovaries are affected on both disorders, the some of the symptoms can be similar.
Avatar f tn Unless you have extensive family history of breast, colon, or ovarian cancer your risk for cancer is low. 95% of cysts are benign.
