Avatar n tn Yep, that's exactly the treatment for an ovarian cyst. Most of them will typically burst on their own and the initial pain is staggering. All you can do is take pain meds if they're offered and wait it out. The body is more than capable of absorbing the fluid so there's nothing to worry about there. She'll probably feel uncomfortable and bloated for a few days.
Avatar f tn Try to use a hot compress and over the counter pain meds. Hope you feel better.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm 47 years old and told after having a transvaginal ultrasound that I have a 1cm nodule on the left side and a 2cm complex cyst on the right side. I'm in a lot of lower abdomen pain. I had a pap but haven't got the results yet. In really worried about ovarian cancer. I don't know of any I my family but they seem small to cause this type of pain. Has anyone else experienced this and came to the other side?
Avatar f tn Since ovarian cysts can cause hormonal changes, headaches are possible but are not a typical symptom. If the headaches began after you started taking the prescribed meds, the meds could be the cause. Since the cyst is 4cm, they may be able to just monitor it for now. When they get bigger than about 7cm, there is concern of ovarian torsion.
Avatar f tn I have pain in the lower right side up to my back around my kiddney area and down into my inner thigh and with pain meds I am still hurting. Should I wait or get a third opion?

Avatar f tn They can form anywhere in the body. Ovarian cysts (sists) form in or on the ovaries. The most common type of ovarian cyst is a functional cyst. Functional cysts often form during the menstrual cycle. The two types are: Follicle cysts. These cysts form when the sac doesn't break open to release the egg. Then the sac keeps growing. This type of cyst most often goes away in 1 to 3 months. Corpus luteum cysts. These cysts form if the sac doesn't dissolve.

Avatar m tn Hello I see I am not the only one that is frustrated with the pain of complex ovarian cysts. I have been in constant pain and pressure in my pelvic vaginal area for the past 9 months. My doctor kept putting it down to menopause and put me on hormone replacement tablets and still suffer with pain. Avatar f tn I am now on probation. I have ovarian cysts, so I deal with alot of pain. I had a prescription for oxycodone(tylox), that ran out and I took a couple of my mother-in-laws hydrocodone(lortab) to help the pain one day. I have to be drug screened for probation now. Will they be able to tell the difference between the two opiates? I know I should not have taken someone elses medicine but I hurt.

Avatar f tn there is really nothing they can do for them but provide you with pain meds or low dose birth control pills can help the amount of cysts you develope. I have recurring ovarian cysts and I remember how frightening it was the first time I encountered them.
130737 tn?1214861465 Good Morning To All! I am 30yrs and have had reoccuring ovarian cysts since 2002. Three of them ruptured (the biggest being 3.2cm) resulting in laproscopies. Last year i had one removed from my left ovary that was 9cm. no cancer... i was cut open for that one. A week ago i had an ultrasound done because i have been having multiple periods with severe cramping; and wouldnt you know i have ANOTHER cyst, but this one is on my right ovary and measures 6cm x 4cm x 6cm.
Avatar n tn I hear that ovarian cysts have the same symptoms as pregnancy. Anyone have experience with them and can tell the difference?
Avatar f tn Shortly after the C-sec, I began having many problems with pelvic pain and several surgeries to remove ovarian cysts (simple corpus luteal cysts) and scar tissue. The issue of the pevlic instability came into question, for which I saw a physiatrist and underwent prolotherapy and physical therapy. I was still having problems with ovarian cysts and was put on continuous birth control to prevent ovulation. I ended up having 4 surgeries for the cysts and adhesions.

436831 tn?1221876789 Ovarian cysts can be harmless but painful. They should be watched, though. You can Google ovarian cysts and get some good info about "watchful waiting" which is what they have been doing with me for about 1 and a half years. Usually the fluid-filled cysts go away (but I always got new ones). Mine only ached a little - no bad pain. BUT in watching the cysts it was discovered in Dec. that I had developed a solid cyst. My Dr.
Avatar f tn Ok so my pelvic area feels ok now still a little achey though. Do ovarian cysts cause sharp jolting pain to my backside. Does this sound like an ovarian cyst? For any ladies that have had them what were ur symptoms? On a scale of 1 to 10 what would u rate ur pain? The other day mine was about a 12! I was bawling my eyes out! I do have PCOS (diagnosed last yr) BUT I have never had a cyst before.
Avatar n tn I went to the ER on Friday for extreme lower left quadrant abdominal pain. I was diagnosed with a likely ruptured cyst on my left side (free fluid was appreciated during the U/S). As soon as they went to do the ultrasound, despite the fact I was given hydromorphone for pain- the technician went to the right side first I went through the ceiling. I later found out I have a 4-5 cm complex right sided ovarian cyst.
Avatar f tn I am not sure why the anti-inflammatories made the pain worse. Ovarian cysts can cause a bit of pain and nausea so your symptoms are not unusual. And the pain caused by rupture can linger for some time. It seems someone I recall had pain that lingered for over a month after her cyst ruptured. I think she was prescribed antibiotics as the rupture caused or was thought to have caused infection. Of course, you do not want to take antibiotics unnecessarily.
Avatar n tn Actually, when I had my first one removed that way, I was back at work 2 days later and felt pretty good. Did your gyn give you any pain meds to help with the pain? You should never had to be left in pain to suffer. I hope you get answers soon. Keep us posted.
