Avatar f tn However, she says my weight is nothing to do with the cysts and that I should go on a diet and do plenty of exercise - if its normal weight it will come off, if its not, it won't! Urghhhhh! What do I have to do to get her to realise that this weight gain is NOT normal for me regardless of the fact that I've just hit 41! Any suggestions anyone? I want to change my doctor but not sure that's the best course of action until I've been referred to Gynae!
Avatar m tn I went off birth control 4 years ago and ever since then I have been developing ovarian cysts. Sometimes i get lower back pain that extends down my buttocks and feels like sciatica . I also get what feels like menstral cramping after intense exercise. During ovulation i also experience uncomfortable cramping. My periods are pretty regular (maybe off by 5 days tops) and they are not heavy, just normal and they last about 4 days.
Avatar f tn I have found in my practice, that if I suppress both cysts AND menstrual periods with depot Lupron, and it HELPS, then a hysterectomy likely will too. If is doesn't help, a hysterectomy likely won't. Chronic pain is very poorly understood, and has to do with how the nerves of the body "remember" pain. It also often leads to depression (not vice versa as many doctors would suggest).
Avatar f tn The best thing to help combat and minimize the occurrence and severity of an ovarian cyst I found was exercise!! The release of serotonin somehow helps.. but I've become an avid Zumba goer and not only did it keep the cysts at bay, but it's a lot of fun.. So if you haven't, try finding some form of exercise that you really enjoy, because then you'll be more likely to stick to it rather than dragging yourself to workout..

You could also check out the Hysterectomy Forum. I had my ovary removed when I had the cyst removed but I'm also post menopausal so it really isn't the same as it is for you.. Pop on over to the Ovarian Cyst forum and post this over there..
Avatar f tn Hello. I'm 14 and underwent surgery 7 months ago. I had an ovarian cyst of 20 cm removed along with one of my ovaries and with a part of the tube too. My belly is STILL SWOLLEN and whenever it comes to ab exercises, I feel uncomfortable and I totally forgot to tell my gynaecologist at the clinic.
Avatar n tn I went back to the Gyn and she did a pelvic exam and said that everything was fine. There were no cysts and that the back pain must be from something else. Well, two weeks later the pain has gotten much worse. I went to my regular doctor who checked my CBC and wanted to do a ultrasound, but couldn't get in for a week for the ultrasound. The pain is getting worse, so I went to the ER. They were able to do an ultasund and stated that I have bilateral ovarian cysts.
Avatar m tn You need to go see your gyn and have a pelvic ultrasound to see if you have ovarian cysts. Cysts can cause all the symptoms that you describe. You might check out the ovarian cyst forum. Make an appt with your gyn asap. good luck and let us know how you make out.

Avatar n tn Hello, I am hoping that someone has had some experience with ovarian cysts and the use of birth control (nuva ring) to prevent ovulation. My doctor started me on the nuva ring in hopes that it would help with the pain from bilateral ovarian simple cysts that measure 5cm and 4.2 cm. If anyone has experience with this type of treatment please respond to the following questions. Does birth control help with the pain from ovarian cysts? Does using birth control help ressolve the existing cysts?
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts can be benign or malignant but the majority (over 90%) are benign. A lot depends on your age and what type of cyst it is - functional, dermoid, etc. Your doctor hopefully will let you know if there is anything to be concerned about. You can google "ovarian cysts" to get more information so you know what questions to ask at your appointment. Please let us know how it goes.
Avatar n tn What is the difference between ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. I haven't had a period for 3 months now and I have a sharp pain in my lower right side, as well as back pain, especially in the mornings. once in a while i am off balance when walking. i am bloated, and a lot of times i don't have an appetite.
Avatar n tn Also be mindful of your diet, there is a link between insulin resistance and ovarian cysts. It is best to stay away from processed white flour products like bread and pasta, and the worst culprit is of course sugar.
Avatar f tn I suppose a high creatinine level could indirectly be related to ovarian cysts as ovarian cysts can aggravate hydronephrosis, which in turn elevated creatinine levels.
Avatar f tn I have ovarian cysts, and a few of them ruptured and i had a very bad experience with that.i was hospitalised for few days.i am better now and am on lupride injections. can you please tell me if i can do gyming ?
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts are very common and affect mainly women in their 30s and 40s. Women who are past menopause (ages 50-70) and have ovarian cysts have a higher risk of having ovarian cancer. The only way to diagnose ovarian cancer is looking at the cells under a microscope. There are tumour markers the doctors can test for called CA-125 and CA19-9 (both are blood tests) however numbers can be higher due to inflammation.
Avatar f tn Around the same time I had a breast cyst aspirated, ultrasound showed several additional small cysts, followed by mammo that showed small cluster of microcalcifications, had biopsy in July, still awaiting results. I asked if there was any connection to ovarian and breast cysts, and have been told its just coincidence, however, having both ovaries removed reduces risk of some types of breast cancer. i'm 49, generally fit, veggie, no serious bad habits, so maybe its just bad luck for us?
Avatar f tn 98% of ovarian cysts are non cancerous. It is rare to have cancerous cysts on both ovaries. If you do not have the BRCA mutation you have a 1.4% of ovarian cancer in a lifetime. You doctor is who you need to talk to. Write down questions to ask.
Avatar f tn Do ovarian cysts cause extreme fatigue? I have for cysts. One of them is a complex cyst measuring 4cm. I have had them for at least a year and being treated with birth control. I get abdominal pain, back pain, pain on my thighs, bloating and nausea. However, what really affects my daily life is the fatigue. I am always very tired, I feel like everything aches and just want to sleep. I work but lack the energy to go through an entire day without feeling I need to sleep!

356929 tn?1246389756 Had abdominal CT scan in August (to check liver) and was told that I have fatty liver and ovarian cysts (minor notation on report). Side pain has gotten worse and enzymes still elevated. Had second abdominal CT scan to get a better look at liver and pancreas. Was told everything looked okay (still have fatty liver) but the ovarian cysts have grown.
Avatar f tn Yes cyst are quite normal. I had them before some larger than others. I did take birth control for a month to help reduce the size. It helped but I've found that exercise helps the most. When I exercise on a regular basis I don't have cyst. Exercise helps keep the estrogen levels in balance and cyst forms when estrogen levels are higher.
Avatar f tn I had pain on my right side and went for an ultrasound and they told me I have a few small cysts on the right and one had ruptured, but they were more concerned because I had one on my left ovary that is 2.8cm. I think this may have been caused by me abruptly stopping the pill a few months ago. My husband had a vasectomy so I figured why keep taking the pill, I didn't realize how much is would mess up my system.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, I cannot comment on anything but the ovarian cysts. Cysts are very common and most resolve on their own. If yours are not large (over 7 cm or so) and you do not have a predisposition for / family history of ovarian cancer, then they can usually be monitored via periodic ultrasound.
