antihistamine

Avatar n tn Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine (reduces inflammation, helps with drippy nose and eyes from allergies, etc) Coricidin is an over the counter OTC drug. The DSM-IV is system for measuring the risk of substance abuse or for assessing mental disorders. You may be thinking of classification of narcotics? or pregnancy drug classification? OTC drugs are not classified.
Avatar f tn Just to let anyone know I found out from the pharmacy today that taking certain OTC cold and flu pills especially the night time versions contain chlorpheniramine or antihistamine.. Which should not be combined with meds like xanax because they both contain an ingredient to make you relax and it can effect your breathing by relaxing you essentially too much...
Avatar f tn sounds like a respiratory allergy. take an OTC antihistamine and use a nasal spray like Ocean Saline Spray. Do not mix antihistamines though such as an oral antihistamine and spray. Ocean Spray does not have an antihistamine and will simply dry you out and is safe to use with an antihistamine.
Avatar f tn You can apply some calamine lotion or Neosporin cream on the spots as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin if the bumps itch. If still the symptoms do not improve then pls get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist. Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.
Avatar f tn Seeing a doctor may be the best thing to do. Hives? Would an antihistamine (OTC) help you? Might be worth a shot or OTC Cortaid. But getting it officially diagnosed is best and try your best not to itch.

Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar n tn You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone as dermacort), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide). Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin.
Avatar f tn The antihistamine I take is Reactine, I cannot tolerate many either, but this one seems to work for me and it doesn't make my symptoms worse. Glad to hear that I'm not the only one that gets affected by weather changes but too bad we do go through this!
Avatar f tn my doctor said that clairitin and zyrtec are ok, but not allegra.
Avatar f tn diphenhydramine was approved for OTC sleep aid BEFORE it was approved for allergy relief OTC. Years ago I was having a problem with a rash and didn't have medical insurance. A friend at Church was a pharmacist. I asked Doc (what else would he have had as a nickname? ;) ) to recommend something OTC for the rash. He told me to go get some Nytol. When I replied "Doc, I have a rash not insomnia." Doc proceeded to inform me about the OTC use approval.
Avatar n tn They knock me out for extended periods of time, by making me lethargic, and extremely drowsy and sluggish. I used an antihistamine eye drop yesterday, and, shortly, had all the above symptoms. My question is simply, can one's system absorb antihistamines through the use of antihistamine eye drops?
Avatar m tn Ive been on every antihistamine, OTC & Rx. Ive tried every sunblock. Ive even been on XOLAIR for 6 months, but stopped because i wasnt getting much relief from it. so im going back to antihistamines, but no matter which one i use, it knocks me out! l cant function. my doctor told me to take montelukast sodium with zyrtec. if i take these at night, will they still be as effective the next day? will i still be drowsy all day?
Avatar n tn Till you get an appointment you could take OTC antihistamine medications, saline nasla drops and steam inhalation. This should help with your symptoms. When the pain is severe, take some OTC pain relief medications. Your doctor would prescribe a course of antibiotics and some steroid nasal sprays. Do let us know if you have any doubts. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Avatar n tn What is the best antihistamine for allergic eyes? I am experiencing worse eye allergy than sinus allergy this Spring, and I think it is due to tree pollen in this area of Texas. I have found chlorphenaramine maleate and benadryl do not help.
