antihistamine

351404 tn?1299489130 Had an eczema with itching outbreak on forehead area and took a Benadryl antihistamine pill. Fine for 24 hours, then took another and that night had a three hour AFib episode. I remember about 20 years ago, I last took an antihistamine and got flutters. Is there a connection between AFib and antihistamine, ie have others an opinion or experience of this?
1711722 tn?1356487554 I take Allegra D (an antihistamine and decongestant) and motrin because I cannot take tylenol. I have had a cold or a mild version of the flu at different times since starting tx (am better now). I wouldn't take anything without talking to your doctor but the allegra d was deemed ok by my dr and it is now OTC. I know it is ok with peg+riba+ and incivek. Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon!
Avatar f tn Pregnancy may be complicated by new-onset or preexistent allergic disease, including rhinitis, anaphylaxis, urticaria and angioedema, and atopic dermatitis. Pregnancy and asthma is extensively studied. Of the currently available preparations, chlorpheniramine has been recommended as the first generation antihistamine of choice for use during pregnancy. Based on the information available, loratadine or cetirizine may be considered the second generation antihistamines of choice.
Avatar m tn You will also need blood counts, chest x-ray and sputum examination. Decongestant drugs and antihistamine drugs may be helpful in such symptoms. Canker sore can be caused by vitamin B-12, zinc, folic acid, or iron deficiency. It is best to consult a healthcare professional. Treatment will depend on the diagnosis. 268356 tn?1236002604 Doc called earlier this am and said no to the theraflu. But said that taking an antihistamine, a decongestant, and tylenol should have about the same effect. So, I took a benadryl, a sudafed, and a tylenol, but that's just not really helping either. I think I know the culprit though. I have a new neighbor that is about an 1/8th of a mile down the road from me. The old neighbors used their barn to store stuff in and the new ones are using it to smoke tobacco.
Avatar n tn I have been waking up every morning for a couple of months now with a sore throat and when I clear my throat there is some blood in my saliva. If I get up in the middle of the night it happens as well. In fact anytime I have been asleep and wake up there is some blood in my saliva. I know that I snore. My brother says he thinks it's a nasal infection but why would it last this long? I was laid off for two months and just recently started working again.
Avatar f tn Pretty much, yyou can't take anything with a decongestant. Normal, regular antihistamine should be fine.
Avatar m tn I would ask your physician to prescribe a decongestant and/or another antihistamine, i.e. Sudafed PE and/or Astelin Nasal Spray if the Nasonex isn't working.
Avatar n tn However, phenylephedrin is a decongestant, benadryl is an antihistamine and vicodin is a narcotic pain reliever. The concern would be that both bendryl and the vicodin would cause drowziness on their own. They would magnify that effect when taken together. You might want to take Zyrtec instead of the benadryl as Zyrtec doesn't cause the drowziness that benadryl does. Other than that, they are safe to take together, but don't drive and limit other activities. Take care.
Avatar f tn ) is also supposed to be fine but I find it is not as effective for me. I wonder which ingredient in DayQuil helps for allergies - perhaps the decongestant? Since it is a cold symptom reliever, not an antihistamine, if it is the decongestant helping, you might want to call your doctor's office and ask about decongestants/expectorants that are safe. Also, the best suggestion I received during my last pregnancy when it came to congestion was to get a humidifier.
Avatar n tn Of the currently available preparations, chlorpheniramine has been recommended as the first generation antihistamine of choice for use during pregnancy. Based on the information available, loratadine or cetirizine may be considered the second generation antihistamines of choice. Pseudoephedrine is a nasal decongestant which can be used for allergic rhinitis. Glucorticoids when used locally is also safe in pregnancy. You need to consult gynecologist before starting above drugs.

Avatar f tn However, you should not use decongestants for more than 5-7 days at a time. This is because they can only provide short-term relief for catarrh, and using them for any longer can make your symptoms worse.. Avoid indigestible, spicy, foods and meats. Eat simply of wholesome food. Obtain needed out-of-door exercise, sunbaths, and swimming. It can also be treated using an antihistamine nasal spray. Antihistamine works by blocking your immune system's response to the allergen.
Avatar m tn I have a question and maybe someone can help me. I am looking for a good decongestant that help open up the Eustachian tubes during flight. Problem is that during decent my ears kill me with so much pain and I need a really good decongestant that I can take with me.
Avatar m tn If the allergen is not known, you may benefit from an allergy test. An over-the-counter antihistamine-decongestant combination may help provide relief. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn e., with antihistamine chlorpheniramine 4 mg, decongestant phenylephrine 12.5 mg, and cough suppressant dextromethorphan 15 mg, each per 5 mL), then the guideline dose for a 4-year-old is one-quarter teaspoon (the one-half teaspoon dose is for age 6-11 years, while the full teaspoon dose is for ages 12 years and up).
1274661 tn?1301868321 I already take zyrtec and rhinocort for allergies on top of all of the other meds I take for pain and reflux. I am seeing an allergist in August and I am going back to my pcp tomorrow for the millionth time. Any advice?
Avatar n tn It just concerns me that the cough is hanging around for so long. The cough has been with me for about a week and a half. Other than being a little worn out from not feeling my best, I have been able to go to work and perform my job normally. Thoughts?
Avatar m tn For the blocked/stuffy nose, drink plenty of water and take an over-the-counter decongestant for 5 days. It is normal for our body to experience some illness once in a while because our body is made that way. And you are right in saying that we should be grateful that it is not as debilitating as cancer. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Hi my name is Trev, and i want to take some Decongestant but it has Phenylephrine in, could this be of harm to me when i have had both Mitral and Aeotic valve replaced,
Avatar m tn Decongestants, steroid nasal sprays and antihistamine medications may help clear the tubes and facilitate drainage. So, try this and consult a local doctor for assessment. Regards.
Avatar m tn Make sure that the antihistamine you're taking doesn't have a decongestant included. I've taken Zyrtec D prior to bed a few times and stared at the ceiling for hours.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your advice. I looked for a low dose nasal spray and I could not find one of quality so I bought children's antihistamine tablets and a vapoinhaler. The tablets have helped enough so I can sleep but not enough to get rid of symptoms. I use the vapoinhaler when I feel the congestion is really bad. My family and I cleaned and dusted the entire house yesterday so hopefully my symptoms will clear up a little more from that.
