Avatar f tn Huh, interesting. I did know the ability to order online existed, but have to agree that it sounds risky. Thanks for that info!
Avatar n tn No online testing providers usually don't do the WB testing for you. Find a provider or ask your regular provider if they use quest labs. If so we can give you the quest labs code to request the test with all your provider has to do is follow the quest labs for the HSV (not HIV) and it's easy they talk to the UofW and take care of the blood.
Avatar f tn My doc said she would do the test, but she wants info on it first, and of course I have to order the test kit. I hope she will do it!! Where is the info for this that I can give to her?
Avatar m tn Did anyone else here realize that you cant order online saliva or blood test if you live in CA or NY. Thats the most rediculous thing ive heard. Im paying for it. Oh well, iguess its just to keep the local labs busy, like their not busy enough.
601156 tn?1229285825 2 IgG test, thats all my results say. But when I took my initial order there for the blood test, it was an order for the Herpeselect (at least thats what the text said).
Avatar f tn Hiye, this may seem a silly question but is the Elisa test that is used for HIV the same as the Elisa test used for rheumatoid arthritis?.. Is the Elisa just a standard antibody test that is not disease specific and if reactive then a specific test is used?..
1498017 tn?1289003772 I am wondering is anyone that has a current diagnosis of Lyme Disease had a negative ELISA test when first tested. I had a rash with a bullseye a few years ago and have been going downhill ever since. All my symptoms match Lyme Disease but my test was negative. After some testing my doc thinks I have myasthenia gravis, but I have more symptoms that do not go with that disease. I did not go to the doc when I noticed the bite because it didn't hurt. I just thought it was a spider bite.
Avatar m tn 72 would be negative. It even says .89 or less negative. The test was HSV 1/2 Ab, IgM by ELISA. I asked dr if that tested for IgG. she said yes and that my hsv2 was .72. anyway should i retest or is that conclusive. It would have been more than 3 months since last exposure.
Avatar m tn You can order the western blot through our office. It requires becoming a patient of the clinic with a 10 minute phone visit.
Avatar f tn The quotations below are from the Mayo Clinic website, discussing Lyme testing: 1 -- ELISA can sometimes give a false positive result: "Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) test: The test used most often to detect Lyme disease, ELISA detects antibodies to B. burgdorferi. But because it can sometimes provide false-positive results, it's not used as the sole basis for diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I received oral sex by a prostitute, I'm married I'm gonna order online but don't know which one is better, I wanna take gonorrhea and chlamidya, how long should I wait for a window period on this too?
Avatar n tn Dr. EWH, My girlfriend and I tested for hiv and my girlfriend got the result back today. The result says "negative" and in "reference range" column states "nonreactive". It says that test was "hiv 1/2 ABS /W RFLX CONFIRMATION". It also says hiv-1/hiv-2 ABS ELISA. Does that mean ELISA was done first and then confirmed with something else? Or does it mean that it was confirmed by another test because the result of ELISA wasn't good?
Avatar f tn t know how she will order it, but she can order the test kit from US. Yes, many of the positives are true positives, but between 1.1 and 3.5, half are false positives. Use of "biokit HSV-2 Rapid Assay" to improve the positive predictive value of Focus HerpeSelect HSV-2 ELISA.
Avatar n tn I heard that the during the ELISA test, the laboratory assistant will divided the sample into several parts? Isn't it? If so is that mean it actually test each of the parts? For example if they divided it into 5 parts, that will be make five tests and get five result, if one of them is positive then they will re-test to confirm. They do this in order to avoid the tests-mistake such as reagents mistakes which is sometime cause the false negative. Am I right?
Avatar n tn The duo test IS an ELISA, combined with a test for HIV p24 antigen. If a duo test is positive at 7 weeks, it is because HIV antibody is present. Therefore, an ELISA antibody test will always be positive in that circumstance. If your duo test is positive, there is no point to repeating an ELISA; you have HIV and that's all there is to it. If so, you need to immediately make an appointment with a doctor or clinic for proper medical care.
Avatar m tn Is it possible to get a WB test in a foreign country? If not, can I order WB online? Should I have my specimen sent to U of Washington from overseas? How do I preserve the specimen?
Avatar n tn You posted a thread in the HIV livng with forum saying you already have been diagnosed HIV+. What are you doing here again? Why not just go get the regular antibody test, they are accurate and the rapid ones give instant results?

Avatar n tn I am going to ask my neurologist to test me for lyme soon. Should I tell him what test I want or should I just let him order a test he thinks is best? I'm going to start there and if he refuses to test me (which I doubt because he is a great neurologist) then I will see a LLMD.
