omnicef ear infection

Hello my 12 year old was taking omnicef for a ear infection and 10 days into it she got hives all over her body and they come and go and really ichy do you think it's from the Omnicef?

I have a family history of severe ear infections, my brother is legally deaf in his one ear due to an ear infection. I would definetly consult with his pediatrician and see if you can get a referral for an ENT. It has made a world of difference for my son. t better went back to dr 2nd visit had ear infection different antibiotic prescribed better for about a week after taking all antibiotic then sick again went back to dr said ear infection in one ear still conjested runny nose eye junk and three days left of antibiotics

i dont know if he has become immune to the meds (ZYRTEC, ALBUTEROL-as needed- and OMNICEF) -OR- if its something more than sinus and ear infections. SYMPTOMS: diarreah, sty inside eyelid, dark orange ear drainage,yellow-green nose drainage, coughing, sneezing, congestion, slight wheezing, and slightly high temps around (99.8-100.1) can someone tell me what could possibly be wrong with him before his next appt.on feb.19th??????

She has received since the 14th omnicef 5ml of 150 (whatever the lower strength is)mg/5ml that was a 10 days script that she took 5 of because they then started rocephin injections on the 20th. The original omnicef was for an ear infection. That was clear when she went in on the 19th and they rocephin (1gm) injections were started due to the prolonged fever (since the 8th). She had three 1 gm injections..one on each the 19th, 20th, and 21st.

But, exactly 2 days later, his nose begins to run clear and sure enough the ear infection returns. He has tried 4 different antibiotics (Amoxicillen, Zythromax, Omnicef, and Augmentin), but the infection always returns. I am concerned about all of the antibitics he has had. We have been referred to an ENT. Do you think the ENT will say that he has to have to have TONSILS or ADNOIDS removed or BOTH? If, so should I seek a second opinion? Thanks!

3. Typically glands swell at the time of infection and in response to infection. Swollen glands are non-specific. A swollen gland in your groin could be due to STD but it could also reflect skin infection in your leg on that side, athletes’, foot (really) or any number of other sources of inflammation. A single swollen gland as you describe is in no way suggestive of HIV. 4. No 5. No. but you should get it sorted out as suggested.

his pediatrician prescribed Omnicef for severe ear infections. She said there was a 5% chance hed be allergic to that but she wanted to try it out. well, he was allergic. After 3 doses he broke out in HIVES all over his face and scalp scratching and screaming in a way no child ought to scream. I immediately gave him benadryl and stopped the meds (wed at 9am was the last dose) it is now friday afternoon he has no fever but is still breaking out in some hives. they go away on their own.

Also, the infection has been treated with numerous antibiotics (amoxicillin, flagyl, omnicef, augmentin, clindamycin), and all seem to help at first, but only clindamycin has lasting effects. Not even augmentin worked. Any idea on what kind of bacteria would respond to clindamycin but not augmentin?

How long should a severe kidney infection last? I have had it for 5 weeks now and still having a hard time recovering. Still sometimes have chills and fever, night sweats and very fatigued. I have taken omnicef and taken all of it.

I went back to the doc today and prescribed me Omnicef antibiotics and Auroguard for the pain in my ear. Well the Auroguard seemed to help at first, but over the hours the pain has persistently gotten worse and the drops aren't working as well. My arm is still trying to go numb, it's painful! Because he is allergic to Penicillan and Zithromax isnt very effective for any infection he gets (including ear or respiratory which he very rarely gets) the doc usually gives him Omnicef which works but wreaks havoc on his tummy. (unfortunately he cant tolerate Ceftbutin or Cefzil at all, which causes him to vomit) I dont understand why he keeps getting these infections.

I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question, wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.

The allergist got a sinus x-ray and it showed a pretty yucky sinus infection. Once again, a round of Omnicef for 14 days made him better, but when I took him back for recheck and repeat x-ray, it showed he still had a mild sinus infection on the left side...So what is happening is the antibiotics have been getting him better, but not all the way, so it just comes right back, even if we keep him on antibiotics for 2-3 weeks at a time. He is set up to start allergy injections next week.

I have swollen eyelids that come and go, almost like hives, but rarely itch. Can be one or several. On omnicef for sinus infection, but doctor doesn't think this is causing it. Hey everyone, I'm about 3 months into Lyme treatment. Most of my symptoms have disappeared or improved but I still have pretty bad pain in my fingers and tendons on my hands. My thumb, index, and middle finger hurt the most, along with the tendons down my thumb. Since starting antibiotics it has improved slightly but it only got so better. Currently I'm on doxy and omnicef along with many supplements (mainly for my immune system). Will different antibiotics help better?

I have been treated with 4 different antibiotics for an infection in my sinuses. I began having yellow mucous out of just my right nostril and went to see a doctor on 12/7/09 where I was given a prescription for Omnicef. The doctor was not real knowable about STDs. He gave me omnicef to take. Will omnicef cure the potential infection? I dropped the prescription off at the Rx and can't remember the directions or mg but will the omnicef work?
