He will have a sinus infection, do a round of anitibiotics and be better for about 2 weeks, then starts all over again. Antibiotic, better for 2 weeks, sinus infection again. Two weeks after one of the last antibiotic rounds, I took him to an allergist who tested him. He is allergic to a ton of trees, grasses, weeds, molds as well as the dust mites. He is on antihistamines. The allergist got a sinus x-ray and it showed a pretty yucky sinus infection.
My dentist explained that inane a chronic sinus infection and would have to take implant out. He removed the implant, cleaned the sinus and prescribed another course of augmentum.
That did not help with the problem, as infection did not go away. The surgical site seems to have cured but infectionis still in my sinus. He response from the dentist is 'I do not know- I have never seen cases that antibiotics so not work'.
He was put on amoxil and had an allergic reaction so he has been taking omnicef. The Dr told us this week that the omnicef has not done anything and that he was going to give him a round of antibiotic shots. So far my son has had 2 of the 3 shots. My first question is how quickly do these shots work? My other question is: Is there some underlying problem that is causing these ear infections, something more serious? He has not had any other type of infection i.e.
-Second myringotomy and adenoidectomy at 16 months. Very infected sinus cavities and ears. 10 day run of Augmentin and 6 day run of antibiotic ear-drops post-op.
-Second myringotomy was due to complete 'plugging' of both tubes and continuing ear infections.
-RAST test showed Level 2 Egg White Allergy (all egg products removed from diet).
-1 day off post-antibiotic (11 days post-op): fever, effusion from ear, green sinus drainage.
Is it possible to have intense sinus pressure and not feel "stuffy" or congested? It has been such a long time since I had a sinus infection and I don't ever remember having this sensation. My right cheek/sinus cavity(only one side has seemed infected) feels sore and really aches. I was diagnosed with a sinus infection about 2 weeks ago----was put on an antibiotic which did not help. Four days ago, I was put on Omnicef.
I am allergic to so many antibiotics. I now have a serious sinus infection and my doctor cannot find an antibiotic to treat the infection that does not cause either hives or diarrhea. I need help. Below are the antibiotics that I cannot take but can I take???

Hello my 12 year old was taking omnicef for a ear infection and 10 days into it she got hives all over her body and they come and go and really ichy do you think it's from the Omnicef?
I have swollen eyelids that come and go, almost like hives, but rarely itch. Can be one or several. On omnicef for sinus infection, but doctor doesn't think this is causing it. Before omincef had a sulfer type med that caused swelling in joints, sick stomach, rash, fever. Have been on Omicef 5 days. Started having strange raised bumps for three days that come and go. Will say that two weeks ago had actual hives around eyes and think it was caused from eye cream.
i too suffer from bad anxiety and depression and also over the last week had very bed sinus infection which i suffer alot from... and everytime i get sinus problems i get bad anxiety because all the miscles in my neck face and head are tence due to sinuses and anxiety feeds off tension its a circle because u cant stop the tension because of the inflamed blood vessels that comes with sinuses...... hope im making sence...!! try relaxing which is hard i know...
I would suggest you go and get checked to be sure. You should be checked not only for gonorrhea and chlamydial infection but also for white blood cells indicative of non-gonococcal urethritis. There are organisms other than gonorrhea and chlamydia which might cause a discharge, trichomonas being one of them. Again, while I think it is unlikely you have an STD, I would get checked, both to get the possibility off of you r mind and to start sorting out what is going on.
Now, having explained everything, I would like to ask your educated opinion on what might the cause of this type of sinus infection and why I cannot be cured with the medicine I have been given? My personal hypothesis is that since my sugar levels are usually in the 180-200 mg/dl and I have an extremely big hepatic health problem, I am unable to heal. My other guesses are: 1) I may be immune to many antibiotics or I may have a virus and not an bacterial infection.
Then to add insult to injury when I took her for her 4 month check(one week later) up they discovered she had an ear infection and was wheezing a bit when she breathed. So now she is back on the antibiotic omnicef AND breathing treatments(which don't seem to be working in my opinion) and still as stuffy in the nose as can been. This has been just a nightmare to me as I just want her to be healthy.
When she developed this acrid mouth stench I took her in figuring a sinus infection. Well she had a barely red throat and the PA decided to check for strep which was positive. Never having dealt with strep I assumed the smell was from the bacteria of strep. The Amoxicillan they gave her did not work so we went back for Omnicef and after 2 doses of meds the smell was gone. Two weeks after meds the smell came back... back to the Dr. no strep... no answers....
this cleared and i developed productive coughing, sinus pressure congestion. i saw a doctor and was diagnosed with sinusitis/ bronchitis, with a negative strep culture from the oropharynx. was placed on omnicef. I returned to the doctor with worsening of the arthralgia and fatigue. I have a slightly elevated ESR and CRP. My ANA is still pending. What am i possibly looking at?
She was given omnicef for an antibiotic (she is allergic to Zithromax) About a week and a half later she was diagnosed with Pnemonia, and given anther omnicef perscription. One week later the pnemonia was getting worse, and she was hopsitalized for 2 days with IV antibiotics. We left with an additional 5 days of omnicef. Now lately, I have burning in my throat almost continuously with morning after waking the worst. My diet is very good. I am 5’10” and 152 Lbs. Never been overweight and never ate a high fat diet.
There they ran another set of the same tests, all coming back negative, her blood count was at 12. Said it was likely a viral infection and sent us back home. Saturday and Sunday go by, she is still exhibiting all of the same symptoms while I am still continuing the omnicef and she has had a shot of rocephin. On Monday I noticed that her lymph nodes in her neck were swollen something terrible. She was still running the high fever and is completely lethargic and weak.
For 6-8 weeks I let go what I thought was a sinus infection without the care of a dr. The pain got really bad with my sinuses, particularly on the left side of my face....ear pressure, tinnitus, sinus pressure, eye pain (not to say it was not on the right side, too, but that was the primary location of the pain). I went into the dr. and got on two different antibiotics over a 3 week period of time (Z-pac, Omnicef). This did not clear anything up so I went back in with the same symptoms.
This is a nasty sickness and she to took a round of omnicef for a bladder infection. We were unfortunate in our home town to get a diagnosis quickly, we took our daughter to a hospital 100 miles from our home for a doctor in an emergency room there to finally listen and admit her into the hospital for treatment. very lucky to have had such a wonderful group of drs. to assist in a time of need unlike the ones in our home town...
So I've been on depo for 9.months now and got my renewal shot and antibiotics for 10 days on the same day, how long should I wait before having unprotected sex? How will they effect eachother????
In the following days I ended up with a head cold ( stuffy nose, very mild sore throat, heavily congested and swollen lymph nodes). I went to my local doctor and he diagnosed it as a sinus issue. He prescribed me a round of antibiotics ( omnicef). The symptoms disappeared until I was in severe cold conditions (-5) and briefly came back around. My body successfully fought of the symptoms without antibiotics. My question is, am I at risk for any oral STD's ? Do I need to get tested ?
I was only on two antibiotics at the same time, and didn't have the kind of discomfort you report.
Ask your doc what can be done, whether other treatments would be less problematic, etc.
Also I would NOT take any herbals or medicinals or anything in that frame of reference UNLESS your Lyme doc okays it as to what meds/supplements you take at what doses for how long. Herbs and pharmaceuticals are all just chemicals, and mixing them without a doc's okay is just asking for trouble.
She put me on Augmentin for 8 days for a sinus infection and said that she saw fluid behind my left eardrum. After the 8th day of pain, the augmentin did NOTHING and I went to the ER. The ER doctor was concerned about my family history and me being a smoker, and recommended a CAT scan and a spinal tap! I had both. I also insisted he do a full sinus scan. The CAT and Tap came back normal. My sinuses were a "little cloudy" on the left side.
