The allergist got a sinus x-ray and it showed a pretty yucky sinus infection. Once again, a round of Omnicef for 14 days made him better, but when I took him back for recheck and repeat x-ray, it showed he still had a mild sinus infection on the left side...So what is happening is the antibiotics have been getting him better, but not all the way, so it just comes right back, even if we keep him on antibiotics for 2-3 weeks at a time. He is set up to start allergy injections next week.
My dentist explained that inane a chronic sinus infection and would have to take implant out. He removed the implant, cleaned the sinus and prescribed another course of augmentum.
That did not help with the problem, as infection did not go away. The surgical site seems to have cured but infectionis still in my sinus. He response from the dentist is 'I do not know- I have never seen cases that antibiotics so not work'.
Is it possible to have intense sinus pressure and not feel "stuffy" or congested? It has been such a long time since I had a sinus infection and I don't ever remember having this sensation. I have swollen eyelids that come and go, almost like hives, but rarely itch. Can be one or several. On omnicef for sinus infection, but doctor doesn't think this is causing it. Before omincef had a sulfer type med that caused swelling in joints, sick stomach, rash, fever. Have been on Omicef 5 days. Started having strange raised bumps for three days that come and go. Will say that two weeks ago had actual hives around eyes and think it was caused from eye cream.
I was given a new antidepressant and anti psychotic, and was feeling almost normal, when I came down with a sinus infection. On Monday, I went to the doctor. I was given a sinus cocktail shot, which contains benadryl and steroids, and cefzil which is an antibiotic. By Tues afternoon, I was starting to feel nervous and antsy. Now, Wed morning, I am very sleepy, shaky, crying and feel like I am jumping out of my skin.
Now, having explained everything, I would like to ask your educated opinion on what might the cause of this type of sinus infection and why I cannot be cured with the medicine I have been given? My personal hypothesis is that since my sugar levels are usually in the 180-200 mg/dl and I have an extremely big hepatic health problem, I am unable to heal. My other guesses are: 1) I may be immune to many antibiotics or I may have a virus and not an bacterial infection.
How long should a severe kidney infection last? I have had it for 5 weeks now and still having a hard time recovering. Still sometimes have chills and fever, night sweats and very fatigued. I have taken omnicef and taken all of it.
When she developed this acrid mouth stench I took her in figuring a sinus infection. Well she had a barely red throat and the PA decided to check for strep which was positive. Never having dealt with strep I assumed the smell was from the bacteria of strep. The Amoxicillan they gave her did not work so we went back for Omnicef and after 2 doses of meds the smell was gone. My child was 1 1/2 months old when she developed a "cold" that consisted of a stuffy nose for about 1 1/2 months. A swollen gland in your groin could be due to STD but it could also reflect skin infection in your leg on that side, athletes’, foot (really) or any number of other sources of inflammation. A single swollen gland as you describe is in no way suggestive of HIV.

I took her to her pediatrician that same day where they did a strep test which came back negative, prescribed omnicef and sent us home. The next day her temperature just kept skyrocketing, getting up to 106. That night I took her to the ER at Children's in Dallas where they ran another strep test, mono, flu, and cbc. Her mono, strep, and flu all came back negative. Her white blood count was at 21. They gave her a shot of rocephin, told us to continue the omnicef, sent us home.
I have had a round of Avelox a few weeks ago and recently Omnicef 600mg/day for 10 days and still have discharge. Question,
wouldn't these antibiotics be affective against NGU, Chlamydia or Gonnorrhea? Thanks for the help.
For 6-8 weeks I let go what I thought was a sinus infection without the care of a dr. The pain got really bad with my sinuses, particularly on the left side of my face....ear pressure, tinnitus, sinus pressure, eye pain (not to say it was not on the right side, too, but that was the primary location of the pain). I went into the dr. and got on two different antibiotics over a 3 week period of time (Z-pac, Omnicef). This did not clear anything up so I went back in with the same symptoms.
In the following days I ended up with a head cold ( stuffy nose, very mild sore throat, heavily congested and swollen lymph nodes). I went to my local doctor and he diagnosed it as a sinus issue. He prescribed me a round of antibiotics ( omnicef). The symptoms disappeared until I was in severe cold conditions (-5) and briefly came back around. My body successfully fought of the symptoms without antibiotics. My question is, am I at risk for any oral STD's ? Do I need to get tested ?
Hey everyone, I'm about 3 months into Lyme treatment. Most of my symptoms have disappeared or improved but I still have pretty bad pain in my fingers and tendons on my hands. My thumb, index, and middle finger hurt the most, along with the tendons down my thumb. Since starting antibiotics it has improved slightly but it only got so better. Currently I'm on doxy and omnicef along with many supplements (mainly for my immune system). Will different antibiotics help better?
