568812 tn?1379165794 Hi i am on 40mg of Omeprazole for acid reflux. Has anyone here had side effects from it like loose stools? For the past two weeks or so my bowel movements have been rather odd...loose in the morning but ok towards the end of the day...no blood, but causing soreness around my anus afterwards....
Avatar f tn OMEPRAZOLE 20 MG. I would just like to know if there is a time limit that you can be on these capsules.
Avatar n tn I keep forgetting to take my omeprazole dr 20 mg 30 minutes before meals, can I take it after the meal.
Avatar f tn My doc prescribed me Lansoprazole gastro resistant as there has been blood in my vomit recently. Has anyone taken it or know anything about it?
Avatar m tn It comes and goes. Went to my gastro doc and he believes it is an ENT issue. My gastro scoped me 2 years ago and found gastritis and a little reflux-nothing horrible. I'm taking 40mg of omeprazole each day. I noticed that I had what felt to be a larger than normal lymph node on the right side of my neck too. I was put on an antibiotic and had a ultrasound of the neck area. The antibiotic seemed to work and the ultrasound just found lymph nodes but they appear to be normal shape and size.
Avatar m tn Last month my gastro doctor upgraded my omeprazole from 20mg to 40mg - mainly because my insurance company doesn't cover omeprazole 20mg anymore because it is available over the counter. So I have been taking 40mg once a day for about a month. Lately my stomach has been feeling a little queasy with bloated gas. I'm wondering if I'm getting too much omeprazole and may have too little acid.
Avatar m tn I was prescibed omeprazole 20mg (gastro-resistant capsule) by the doctor a week and half ago as i had gastroentortis and also chest pains that the doctor said was indegestion. The doctor said to go back after a week if still had symtoms. Went back friday still experiencing chest pains. The doctor just told me to keep a diary of the pains for 2 weeks. The discomfort is in my sternum area of my chest and comes and goes and also burping alot. Is this still indegestion or something else?
Avatar f tn ve visited gave me antiacid medication as well as gastro resistant capsules (omeprazole, lansoprazole, gaviscon, buscopan) and I never felt better, sometimes even worse. Last days the pain got really worse and I ended up in the hospital but they gave me only codeine and paracetamol and via my GP organized scan and endoscopy.
Avatar n tn i have this and i feel extremely tired too,my doctor has prescribed me omeprazole i takes one in the morning,it is a build up of gastro in the body and these tablets heps you not to feel this way when eating, also avoid fizzy drinks when possible and things like alchol.hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I am currently being treated for dyspepsia and gastritis and began taking omeprazole. In addition, I was constipated for a few days however had a BM yesterday. HOwever, there were black specks in my BM. BM was normal in color and texture however, black specks in stool and on toilet tissue? Is this the IBS adn result of constipation and omeprazole?
Avatar m tn I have had GERD since 1994. I have been on several medications. In most recent years I have been taking omeprazole. I think it's been helping over the years but I now have some symptoms that seem different. Almost 4 years ago I had a peptic ulcer. It was rather small. My gastro doctor did a follow up endoscopy about 8 weeks later and all was clear. I was using omeprazole to clear the ulcer. Fast forward to now. I have the following symptoms.
514510 tn?1272718736 i have acid rising into my throat when i sleep, and raising my bed a bit has helped, i also take 20mg of omeprazole (losec) up to twice a day, which also helps. i hope this is helpful.
Avatar m tn Yet my symptoms persist. To treat the severe stomach pain that i had a week ago i was put on 20mg of omeprazole twice a day and told to stop taking Prilosec OTC for the time being. Im looking for any suggestions to try to solve these issues.
Avatar m tn The doctor prescribed Zofran and that helped but gives me diarrhea. I went to a gastro doc and the thought I had gastro paresis. I told him I don't believe so. I have regular bowel movements, I hear my stomach working, and my glucose levels rise directly after I eat. The paresis would delay that glucose rise since the food is not moving through the system normally. I was tested for h. pylori and it was negative. I was given Sucralfate 1 GM and it helps.
Avatar f tn I developed really bad gas during treatment and it stuck around after eot and got worse. Now I'm having bad diarrhea and nausea and think it may be due to the Omeprazole. I take 40 mg daily and am thinking about going down to 20 mg. I found a study that says Omeprazole can cause SIBO (bacteria) in 50% of patients. I can't get into a gastro doc for another 2 months and think the diarrhea and inherent pain and nausea are driving my BP way up.
Avatar f tn can you take omeprazole without antibiotics
Avatar f tn These issues began 5 years ago during the same week I took antibiotics for suspected Lyme disease. I take omeprazole for acid reflux. Have seen gastro and endocrine drs with nothing that jumps out as abnormal. I posted once before but the symptoms changed in that initially no vomit now, I almost always vomit . Then it goes away . I think oatmeal an issue but no one else seems to think the trigger . It’s like something gets irritated or inflamed and the quiets down.
Avatar n tn what I wanted to know is ...... both of these are resistant to antibiotics......are they both resistant to penecillins and if so is there any point in ever giving her penecillin antibiotics for any infection over the years or should we use a different family of antibiotics? In other words ....could she be inherently/genetically (probably wrong words) resistant to penecillin????? Poor mite also has had chicken pox, hepatitis A, chest infection for at least 5 weeks but now gone thank god.
Avatar m tn I started to keep a journal of the PVCs and conversely to most people, I think there might be a pattern that shows I have more PVC episodes when I do take Omeprazole. Last Sunday was pretty bad and I had taken the Omeprazole on Saturday and Sunday. I stopped Sunday night and each day this week (until today) has gotten a bit better. Wed & Thursday were pretty much symptom free. Today however it's worse than normal.
Avatar f tn Two years ago I was put on omeprazole, had an endoscopy done, and a pH level probe test. Endoscopy came back normal. Omeprazole made me feel dizzy, nauseated, and out of it. Stopped taking it slowly. I learned of low stomach acid and have been taking probiotics & apple cider vinegar pills for two years. Symptoms had 90% been cured! Now my symptoms are flaring up again.
Avatar n tn hello. I am 22 years old. For the past 2 years I have been having some gastro problems I cant seem to get rid off. I get gas whenever I eat anything high in carbohydrates. I cant eat and apple without getting gas. It always has a putrid odor. I wake up every morning with a stuffed nose and a white coating on my tongue. On days when I eat nothing or no carbohydrates at all, I wake with a clear nasal passage and very little if any gas at all.
1747349 tn?1332683680 The first being a proton pump inhibitor or stomach acid reducer such as omeprazole. Also, two types of antibiotics usually clarithromycin and amoxicillin.
Avatar f tn Was not heartburn was not Gerd like symptoms. Any rate she put me on omeprazole. Just this year I weaned myself off of it at my endocrinologist urgings. The reason being as he explained it was to allow the production of stomach acid to help with the absorption of medication‘s that are much needed. Basically his comment was “any day that you take omeprazole is a day that your medication is not going to help you” and in all fairness to him I had already read some articles about that.
Avatar m tn If you know that the pain is non-cardiac I would suggest you ask this question on the gastro-intestenial forum, though I'm not sure if that's what they call it. It sounds like a gastro or colon or stomach related problem. I know that gas can produce very sharp stinging pain along the sides. I think it will depend on the duration of this pain and a full blood panel wouldn't hurt either to help you determine what's wrong.Good luck to you!
