Nuvaring and weight loss

Common Questions and Answers about Nuvaring and weight loss

nuvaring

Avatar n tn I tried a few other doctors and none of them were any help either. They all just said the migraines and weight gain and missing periods were normal and that I should just lose weight. After the three months on the NuvaRing, my period returned naturally, but it was irregular for a a couple of years. Since January, I hadn't had a real period. I've had spotting that was sort of sticky and brown--not the right color at all--but not a real period.
Avatar f tn I was on nuvaring for four years before I stopped taking it so I could try for another baby and I will be getting it after this baby also.. its so easy and like the other poster said, I didn't gain any weight, acne was gone and definitely wasn't hormonal at all! You put it in for 21 days and then take it out for 7 days then you get a new one and put it in for another 21 days and so on..
7600327 tn?1393358885 OK so... on March 2nd I found out I had a miscarriage & on the 5th I had a full D&C and was told that would be the first day of my new cycle. Now although I was told not to have set before my follow up appointment I did. The day of my follow up which was March 20th, I was told everything looked good & I went back on the Nuvaring. Ever since then I've been on a major weight loss kick, but in the meantime I've been feeling nauseous.
Avatar f tn YES! It can cause diabetes! It is listed as glucose intolerance in the side effects. I went though 8 months of #@!& on nuvaring. I went to the doc because I wad exhausted all of the time, fuzzy brained, and starting to loose my hair. When I asked if it could be the birth control, my question was dismissed. They tried to put me on all of this medication for slightly elevated blood sugar. I refused. I decided to go off the nuvaring, which I was on only for acne.
Avatar f tn I was on Nuvaring for 5 years...I got off a month and a half ago and the first week I gained 7 lbs. I totally freaked out! But I remained positive and continued to workout as usual and eat helathy and actually ended up dropping ten lbs.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I am a 29 year old female - and about 7 months ago I stopped using Nuvaring. I already had a bit of adult acne and some weight gain before I stopped, but after I stopped the acne went a little crazy - on the lower half of my face and my neck. It has also been a bit over 6 months since I've had a period, which is beginning to freak me out.
Avatar f tn Hey! I was on the depo shot years ago. I didn't get my period for 3 years and I really, really loved that aspect. As for the weight gain it is true but here is how it breaks down (as recently told to me by my gyno). The depo shot has a tendency to make you hungrier than usual. So, it's not arbitarily making you gain weight, it's what you put in your mouth that makes you gain weight. I didn't have any hair loss while I was on it.
Avatar f tn I was on the pill for years and came off of it to get an IUD which I got taken out after 8 months and started the Nuvaring. Coming off of the pill I LOST weight and felt better than ever... almost complete opposite...
5121963 tn?1363905257 I really want to try a new medication for my endometriosis, but It's very hard to decide. I'm on progesterone now (been on this for a year) the good thing is that it FINALLY stopped my periods and sometimes my pain. (stopping bleeding is goal) but the bad side is that I'm suffering with horrible side effects such as hot flashes (I get them like every 5-10 minutes. It's horrible!
Avatar f tn And gained lots of weight and have been on bcp for 10 yes and stopped about a year ago to get pregnant. My obgyn prescribed metformin but I haven't been really following through with it because I did not feel it doing anything... Maybe After all I should give it another try!
Avatar n tn Please let me know if you can answer my NuvaRing question! On April 2 I found out I miscarried -- 2nd trimester loss, so I had to have a D&C. I had the D&C five days later. Two weeks following the D&C, I had my follow-up appointment with an RN (my OB had been called into a delivery, of course). She suggested I get on birth control for a while, since we decided not to try to conceive again soon, so she recommended the NuvaRing.
Avatar f tn I started the nuvaring today and is it suppose to be like this i went to go pee and i wanted to check if was still here and stuff well i checked i felt it soon as i u know... Is that right i have had it in all day too...
7718617 tn?1395419876 First and foremost - you need to lose weight and try exercising for 30 min 4-5 times a week. Even if it is just a walk. Anything it's better than nothing. Next - go see your doctor. They can put you on meds that could help. Some common meds for PCOS and people TTC are metformin and Clomid. Finally, when you think you are ovulating have sex every other day. Not every day. It should be a bit easier to determine ovulation when on Clomid.
290867 tn?1333569278 I couldve sworn that I replied to this (maybe it didn't go thru) The IUD CAN cause scarring and sometimes make it hard to conceive children later on. My OBGYN wouldn't put one in (I wanted the copper one but mirena can cause problems too) because I had a csection and he said there was a pretty big risk to me of porforation where it goes thru the scar tissue into the abdomen.
Avatar f tn Periods can be late for lots of reasons. Things like changes in routine, stress, illness, weight gain or loss, or just a blip in the hormones. Most women are occasionally late and periods don't always work like clockwork even if it's the norm for someone. Pregnancy tests are very accurate and symptoms of pregnancy are very much like symptoms of PMS. Also, if a women doesn't have enough hormones to trigger the pregnancy test, they don't enough to cause pregnancy symptoms.
Avatar f tn The next day I was feeling really weak and sick, and I started waking up really nauseous every morning, and I end up going back to sleep to sleep it off and stay in bed until afternoon. Yesterday I freaked out because my back was hurting and with the nausea I thought I might have a kidney infection or something, but it's kinda been coming and going.
Avatar n tn All of the extra hormones, including the hormones inside of the semen, make your vagina very sensitive to semen. When i was on the nuvaring...semen burned. Nuvaring=hormones. No nuvaring and not pregnant=fine. Now 36 weeks pregnant and semen burns.
889551 tn?1416184483 Lexi is nine months old now, and I quit birth control three or four months ago because I tried the NuvaRing and hated it (my cervix was really low when I put it in, and it made it uncomfortable). This month I had spotting at ovulation, and I didn't think anything of it until DH told me that the condom had broke two days before the spotting started. At 8 dpo I started spotting and have been spotting brown and red ever since.
Avatar f tn I like the nuvaring. Didn't like the depo shot gained about In water weight took me over 18 months to loose.
Avatar f tn I loved the convenience of nuvaring, but I was also having suicidal thoughts, anxiety, chest palpitations, loss of libido, insomnia and weight gain due to not having any energy!!! Thanks for listening girls. I removed mine just today after using it off an on. My significant other will have to either suffer the effects of me being a total b-word, wear a "raincoat" or enjoy having a little pitter patter around the house. I am good with the latter as opposed to suffering the way I was.
730826 tn?1317943334 I'm on nuvaring too and I'm usually way more than 3 days late. I'll take the ring out on Sunday and then won't get my period until Friday. I know how you feel, though. I get totally freaked out when my period is late too. But the reply before yours, peekawho, is right. Wait a week and test again.
468832 tn?1324348961 I heard pretty good things about that, my ex gf was also on nuvaring and had little to none side effects.
Avatar f tn LEGALLY your mother can't force you to get the shot. IT can make you gain weight, I put 50+ lbs on with it. Personally I'd suggest the Nuvaring if it's an option. I spent 3 months on it and LOVED It! The reason is Nuvaring is low dose, you won't normally put weight on with it, and it's easier than a pill and you don't have to remember it every day the same time.
