I've had pills and nuvaring. I'm in the same boat as you. I forgot pills. I'm scared the shot will make me gain weight. I'm allergic to latex so can't use the patch. My doctor won't do IUDs for personal reasons which I agree with. My coworker got the implanon and she is allergic to it and itches like crazy and she said it really hurts. I think I'll end up going back on nuvaring. I didn't gain weight.
I had a follow up last week to get my thyroid levels checked (I have them checked every 6 months) My T3 level had almost bottomed out since my January appt. The doc said most of the weight gain was water weight and suggested a diuretic. So he tweeked my thyroid meds and I researched natural diuretic because I don't want to take the prescription stuff. I have lost about a pound a day mostly thru drinking green tea and coffee (I didn't have any caffeine intake before this).
Hey! I was on the depo shot years ago. I didn't get my period for 3 years and I really, really loved that aspect. As for the weight gain it is true but here is how it breaks down (as recently told to me by my gyno). The depo shot has a tendency to make you hungrier than usual. So, it's not arbitarily making you gain weight, it's what you put in your mouth that makes you gain weight. I didn't have any hair loss while I was on it.
I tried a few other doctors and none of them were any help either. They all just said the migraines and weight gain and missing periods were normal and that I should just lose weight.
After the three months on the NuvaRing, my period returned naturally, but it was irregular for a a couple of years. Since January, I hadn't had a real period. I've had spotting that was sort of sticky and brown--not the right color at all--but not a real period.

I am a 29 year old female - and about 7 months ago I stopped using Nuvaring. I already had a bit of adult acne and some weight gain before I stopped, but after I stopped the acne went a little crazy - on the lower half of my face and my neck. It has also been a bit over 6 months since I've had a period, which is beginning to freak me out.
I was on the Nuvaring and after many different kinds of BC it was the one I loved. It's the only time my periods were regular but the hormone levels were perfect. I didn't gain weight or get moody. And stopping and starting my period was a piece of cake, not like when I was on the pill.
Ok I am 24 y/o and i am pregnant with my first baby. My doctor's keep asking me what kind of birth control do I want for after the baby is born but i don't know. I have never been on birth control so I don't know much about it. I just want something that won't make me gain weight or forget to take. Plz help.
Periods can be late for lots of reasons. Things like changes in routine, stress, illness, weight gain or loss, or just a blip in the hormones. Most women are occasionally late and periods don't always work like clockwork even if it's the norm for someone. Pregnancy tests are very accurate and symptoms of pregnancy are very much like symptoms of PMS. Also, if a women doesn't have enough hormones to trigger the pregnancy test, they don't enough to cause pregnancy symptoms.

Well i would say your fine. I always lose weight at the first of my pregnancy. I am 37 weeks and have only gained 7 pounds so its all what ur doctor thinks. Mine is ok with my weight gain because im healthy and i do eat plenty lol. But in my opinion you are fine cause you should gain more at the end rather then the beginning. Just remember the baby and fluid is only so much and you are all the rest. So ask your doctor what would be a healthy weight gain and try to stick to that.
I've never gained weight on the pill...I've heard of the depo shot making women gain weight...but everyone's different.
Completely normal! I lost 5lbs in the beginning of my pregnancy then gained it back, today I went for a check up and I've lost 2 lbs since my last appointment. So my total weight gain this whole pregnancy thus far has been 10lbs, as long as the baby is developing and measuring right weight gain isn't a big priority.
LEGALLY your mother can't force you to get the shot. IT can make you gain weight, I put 50+ lbs on with it.
Personally I'd suggest the Nuvaring if it's an option. I spent 3 months on it and LOVED It!
The reason is Nuvaring is low dose, you won't normally put weight on with it, and it's easier than a pill and you don't have to remember it every day the same time.
It's normal, I was the same until I reached the 20 week mark & I gained weight rapidly.
I lost 5lb without getting sick and it took a few weeks to gain it back. They sometimes suggest drinking ensure to help gain weight.
Firstly rule out conditions like hypothyroidism which can lead to excessive weight gain. A person wanting to lose weight should do so in a scientific way for long term benefits. A healthy diet and regular exercise or incorporating yoga into your daily regime can help to lose weight. Eat more of green leafy vegetables, fruits and protein and less of fats, butter and potato etc.
My younger sister got the depo shot for about 4 years and she has been off for about a year or so she has yet to receive a regular period gain massive weight also she has been having skin problems that we think has to do with the depo...I also kno someone who got one of the rings not sire witch one but she go prego & the couldn't find the ring inside her ...so I'm going to say the pill or maybe the patch if they still offer them ..
