YES! It can cause diabetes! It is listed as glucose intolerance in the side effects. I went though 8 months of #@!& on nuvaring. I went to the doc because I wad exhausted all of the time, fuzzy brained, and starting to loose my hair. When I asked if it could be the birth control, my question was dismissed. They tried to put me on all of this medication for slightly elevated blood sugar. I refused. I decided to go off the nuvaring, which I was on only for acne.
I've had pills and nuvaring. I'm in the same boat as you. I forgot pills. I'm scared the shot will make me gain weight. I'm allergic to latex so can't use the patch. My doctor won't do IUDs for personal reasons which I agree with. My coworker got the implanon and she is allergic to it and itches like crazy and she said it really hurts. I think I'll end up going back on nuvaring. I didn't gain weight.

On April 2 I found out I miscarried -- 2nd trimester loss, so I had to have a D&C. I had the D&C five days later. Two weeks following the D&C, I had my follow-up appointment with an RN (my OB had been called into a delivery, of course). She suggested I get on birth control for a while, since we decided not to try to conceive again soon, so she recommended the NuvaRing.
The next day I was feeling really weak and sick, and I started waking up really nauseous every morning, and I end up going back to sleep to sleep it off and stay in bed until afternoon. Yesterday I freaked out because my back was hurting and with the nausea I thought I might have a kidney infection or something, but it's kinda been coming and going.
I am also allergic to latex and tried the NuvaRing and had quite a severe latex allergic reaction to it. I ripped my Gyno a new one after that happened. I understand that it's technically latex-free, but it contains the same main ingredient as latex (which is what caused the reaction) and I feel that needs to be mentioned on the box at least.
I had sex fathers day and the 29th and the condom broke but i hav the nuva ring and i got my period but its lasts 3-4 days well i put nuvaring back in on july 5th then had unprotected sex (pull out) on the 7th of july i feel different always hungry n and expect period in a wk wen can i test or how do i kno for sure if test is negative could it be from nuvaring because with my 2yo i had missed period n tested negative
in my case their was nothing wrong with my ovaries but I did have insulin resistance which caused me very bad acne, no period at all, alittle facial hair, and definitely darking folds around my neck and arms.My OB/GYN put me on metformin and birth control. A year later I've lost 61 pounds because of it..i feel amazing. It was slow in the beginning because of the side effects from the metformin ex. stomach bloat, gas, diarrhea, and ingestion.
But yesterday night, after I got home from work, I noticed that it had become very sore in my anal and vaginal areas. I did a check and found a few lumps surrounding te area. I asked my mom for advice, and due to my medical history with anal fissures, she said that it was probably hemorrhoids. So I put some hemorrhoid cream on them and went to sleep.
get any side effects but maybe 3-4 months ago ive had terrible mood swings, i feel very depressed, mayor loss of hair, i also got a tingling on my right arm and currently experience leg pain..often get headaches, weight gain, breast enlargement, spotty darkening of my skin (face). I'm getting off the Nuva Ring this month. I don't recommend it!
I just finished Sovaldi and olysio and no hair loss at all, in fact hair looked great
I do have hypothyroid which is familial, mother , daughters have it,
Check your thyroid levels
That can effect hair loss, dryness etc( even my eye brows and under arms thinned from hypothyroidism )
You may need to be on thyroid medication such as synthyroid if it is off
3 months ago I switched to Nuvaring from the pill. Hubby and I were going to wait until the spring to start ttc.
My dr said I could leave my ring in for 4 weeks to avoid my period so technically I haven't had my period since October 9. I have exactly 1 week until I can either take it out for my period or leave it in to avoid it.
I have been bloated and hungry all the time. Yesterday I was exhausted after shopping for 2 hours and napped when I woke up I was so nauseous.
